What Is The Difference Between The Outsiders Play And Movie

The outsiders book and movie are both dangerously amazing! They have a few differences but for the most part they're pretty similar.You may not think they're that different but they are in some ways.

On April 24, 1967, S.E. Hinton published the book The Outsiders. Then sixteen years later director Francis Ford Coppola’s movie version of The Outsiders was released on March 23, 1983. The book is about a young boy named Ponyboy who lives with his two older brothers because his parents were killed in a automobile accident. Ponyboy goes through a lot of tough times because he is a part of this group known as the Greasers. The Greasers are a group that are known for being from the poor side of town and the Socs are the rich kids on the other side of town. Throughout the entire book the two groups kept fighting and then something terrible happened that changed Ponyboy’s life forever. The movie and book have many differences

The Outsiders was such an interesting, sad, and dramma book and movie that a lot of people have seen. It included deaths and characters saving lives. While you read this you will understand more and more why some of the characters are heros.

The novel of The Outsiders is better than the movie. The novel gives more vivid details than the movie does. Even though the movie shows actual image, the novel lets you have your own image of what’s going on. The movie did not show the part where Ponyboy was getting jump. That is where most of the conflicts started. It also didn’t show the part where they were at the court, which is a really important part in The Outsiders. The feeling and tension are more intense in the novel than it is in the movie. Over all, the movie is not better than the novel.

The movie is fairly similar to the book except for a few exceptions. One of the main things is that the movie is less detailed and is faster paced. Another thing is that pony never went to the hospital after the fire and didn't have a concussion. When Dallas was driving to the hospital with Pony and he got pulled over by the police who was on a motorcycle. While At the hospital Johnny’s mom comes to visit him but Pony and Dallas don't talk to her. When Dally leaves he goes and robs a store and the police are after him. Then when the police catch him he raises his unloaded handgun and the police shoot him. He gets shot once and does a few rolls stands up and gets shot more. The gang goes home after finding Dally and Ponyboy starts writing the “Outsiders”.

The Outsiders, made in 1983, is based on the original book made in 1967, The Outsiders. The movie copied the same plot of the book heavily, as it still portrays the same main character, Ponyboy Curtis (played by Thomas C. Howell), a fourteen year old boy living with his two brothers. This one and a half hour film shows Ponyboy’s life as a greaser, as he experiences the positive and negative sides of his family life style, and questions the benefits of the greaser’s biggest enemy; the Socials.

I preferred the book over the movie because I feel that the book introduced us more into the problems between the Socs and Greasers as well as the Greasers individual problems. I watched the PG-13 version of the movie and that one followed a lot of the key points of the book unlike the PG version. I really liked though that scene when dally snapped once Johnny died it showed the other side of Dallas Winston. In all it really did have good characteristic and it did kind of go along the book as well as it could. I do personally did like the PG-13 one much better it did a better explanation of things. In all Francis Ford Coppola did a really good job directing this movie and doing a lot of little things that didn’t need to put in like the gymnast

The book and the movie of the Outsiders are two very different stories. The book has so much more detail then the movie. The movie is not the most detailed but it does get its point across. There are may similarities and also many differences between the two the book is by far more interesting and more detailed then the movie. I enjoyed the book a lot and the movies a lot but the movie was missing a lot.

The Outsiders is a book that has been read by many people. Most of the people have enjoyed the book, but not the movie or vise versa. The Outsiders was very good and had a great story behind it. The reasons why the book is better than the movie are the book gives more detail, people can let their imagination go wild, and the movie leaves out key elements that the book has.

The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.

The book and the film were both simular, and yet different in many ways. An example would be, in the film, Ponyboy was walking to the drive-in and meeting Cherri and Marcia. Although in the book, Ponyboy began his journey by telling the readers about his experience about being jumped by the Socs and being threatened. The director probably had some options to pick from to leave out from the movie, and the director chosed this to leave out. Leaving out the part where Ponyboy was jumped was an effective move because without the experience Ponyboy was lost and helpless because he did not know what to do when he and Johnny got cornered in the park by Bob and other Socs.
