The montane ecosystem is the area full of upland slopes below the timberline and is dominated by coniferous trees like the ponderosa pine. The subalpine zone is below the timberline, but above the montane zone. Quaking aspens, lodgepole pines, and englemann spruce trees can be found there. Alpine tundra is area above the timberline, where there are no trees because it is to windy and icy for them to grow. The glacier zone is full of ice and snow, and there is sparse/no plant life.
