F. Scott Fitzgerald is the author of the remarkable world novel, The Great Gatsby (1925). Born in St. Paul, MN, he grew up on the edge of a fairly extravagant neighborhood although the family had to rely on “old money” to survive. The place in which he lived caused him to romanticize and desire for the luxury’s and rich lifestyles the people around him had obtained. Fitzgerald was a romantic in the way that he marveled over the rich. He recognized their place in society to be one of the happiest places you could be in life; the idea of the “American Dream”, which was the only thing he strived for in his lifetime, was and could be obtained by the poorest of the poor and once obtained, should be boasted and showed in the most extravagant way
