The Marxian Critique of Criminal Justice This chapter presents the theoretical approach of Karl Marx, applying Marxist theories to criminal justice. Essentially, criminal justice is used to dictate practices and practitioners of criminal justice (Reiman 2012:225). However, Marx argues the criminal justice system as an “economic reflex” (Reiman 2012:225) and legality as merely ideological (Reiman 2012:229) in favour of the capitalists.
