A person's faith is always a crucial factor in his life. It’s one of the few things that can answer how a person lived, why he lives, and what could happen throughout his life. In Todd Burpo's book entitled "Heaven is for Real”, our faith is tested to the limit as Burpo narrates the miracle of his son during a near-death experience. Throughout the book, Todd Burpo exhibits evidences of heaven's existence through his son's experience. Moreover, the book mentions several biblical references to provide more insight in Christianity. Heaven is for Real focuses on enriching our minds with the hope of having peace and understanding through God’s love and teachings.
Colton Burpo is a 3-year-old boy enjoying his young life with his sister, Cassie,
We all have our own picture of what we imagine Heaven will look like. In this book, three-year-old, Colton Burpo tells the reader about his experience to Heaven and back. Some adults may live much of their lives with a literal faith. Stage three is group faith Young people start to value the importance of friendship and often come to view God as one who treats them much like a trusted companion. Stage four is person faith. People strengthen their faith by questioning earlier beliefs. Stage five is mystical faith. At this stage of faith the awareness of God’s inner presence leads one to become more aware that God also dwells in others. Interfaith dialogue now becomes not a threat but an opportunity for new understanding. Stage six is sacrificial faith. Jesus, Dorothy Day, and Archbishop Romero are examples of this sacrificial faith. Such people display radical and consistent commitment to the doing of God’s will that is uncompromised by concern for personal security.
Beginning with his conversion to Christianity at the age of five, Rauser takes us through seasons of certainty and doubt as he examines issues like salvation, hell, grace, good works, the Bible, the Church, and Christian doctrine. He “tells that story of moving from the naive innocence of a child’s faith, on through layers of doctrinal and ethical complexity, wrestling with the fear of ultimate failure, and finally arriving at an abiding trust in the God who is infinitely greater, wiser, more merciful, and more loving than I could ever be” (xii).
Believing God loves us unconditionally is right. But, what if we lived like He does? It’s easy to say, “I believe!” We believe healthy nutrition is good for us, but what did we decide to eat today? While we believe eight hours of sleep restores our bodies, we constantly fall short of this benchmark. For many of us, believing truly is a good thing, but there lies a clear distinction between understanding God is good and
It can be argued, as human beings, we are students of life, and death is one of the hard lessons that we will encounter. Our faith is not a fixed concept, it is affected by a convergence of factors and events in our life. A person’s faith is a complex and differs from one person to another, but one thing is for certain, it affects how we look at life and how we approach life. Rudolfo Anaya’s Bless Me Ultima divulges into the life an inquisitive six year old Antonio as he transitions from a young boy to a man and becomes cognizant of life’s tragedies. His inquisitive nature that persists to understand himself and his world bears an internal struggle that leaves a rift of ambivalence that mentally tears him between opposing ideals.

In Ingmar Bergman’s masterful film The Seventh Seal, Death grants knight Antonius Block a reprieve, sending Block on a quest to make a difference and find God in his waning time on Earth. Though Block cannot tangibly prove that God exists, he still believes that He is somewhere out in the world, and that he simply cannot find Him. Much like Jesus Christ from the Gospel According to Matthew, Block wants to do one more good deed in the world while enjoying the little positive moments he has left. And, in their final moments, both men feel disconnected from God. Antonius Block is similar to Jesus Christ in that both characters try to simultaneously maximize their time on Earth and feel connected to God, ultimately suggesting that faith gives a person meaning in his or her turbulent life.
My mom once told me when I was young and ignorant, “Faith is the foundation of a beautiful friendship with the one person who will always remain by your side”. These words were expressed even more profoundly every Sunday in the echoing corridors of a small church by a priest I had yet to know or even care about. Preaching with his perplexing words in which I could only muster barely a fourth of my full attention span listening to. Thus, the term faith did not exactly resonate with me until many years later. My early years were filled with the teachings of the bible in Sunday school and later on as well in middle school during Friday night sessions. Unfortunately, my mom was an extremely strong enforcer of our faith for she was also raised Catholic from birth, but my dad on the other hand has a more scientific approach to how the world came to be. The years I spent in Sunday school blurred into an everlasting line of bleak nothingness just a ticking clock waiting till an end. Even today I do not remember anything that occurred within those taxing sixty minuets of constant bible studies it’s as though I lost the key to the inner workings of my childhood. Nonetheless, there have always been unbelievably great role models in my faith such as my mom, youth ministers, and friends who encourage me to be open to my faith. However, it’s always been my own restrictions that prevent me from furthering my relationship with God. So when my sister suffered her first severe

The movie Heaven Is For Real takes place in a small town in the point of view of the Burpo family. They are a religious family and the father is a preacher at their church. Though everyone has their doubts about their religion during times, you wouldn't expect a pastor to. This however changes when their son suffers from appendicitis and goes through a near death experience and claims to have visited heaven. When I say this I mean the positive things that makes life beautiful. I expect heaven to be a peaceful home away from war and death. I expect Heaven to be a place where one will not work or suffer again just because they want to put food on their table. I expect Heaven be a place that is free of disease and sickness. to 27.
