There are so many different answers from so different types of people, that there is no exact answer. Some just go ahead and basically say the definition to the American Dream, not realizing that those are two completely different subjects. While others like to think outside of the box, about not just what America has done for its country, but what it has done for the world. To me personally, I always have mixed feelings and thoughts about this question. I think about all the negative things about this nation like race and equality issues but then I also think about how it has given me and my family a chance to start a new life here, about how thankful I am for the living conditions I am provided by this country. America is not the only country that is in a bad state, there are worse things happening out there, but I do not understand why no one is trying to fix this nation. If we were to all step up and do something, this country could turn out to be something we all can eventually learn to love. So how can we expect America to become a respectable country when it cannot stop criticizing each other and everyone around
The soil of the middle-east stained with the blood of our American soldiers just so we can not take advantage of our right to vote. Although the present day American is a totally a different person, at the close of the Revolutionary War the same individual was a European immigrant impacted by the nature of the American continent. In St. Jean de Crevecoeur’s perspective, an American is a race that results from a mixture of Swedes, Dutch, French, Irish, Scotch, and Englishmen (48). This race consists of unique type of people who are not governed by laws as strict as they experienced in Europe. They are a breed of people who had no home and no country in Europe. This paper discusses what the American was thought to be, in view of St. Jean de Crevecoeur’s Letters from an American Farmer.
America offers so much to the people who live in the U.S., but America will always be full of criticism, violence, and people who are offended by everything. America still seems to manage to be one of the world's best nations. The first Americans planned America to be as successful as it is, but for America to be more peaceful. America is not one of the most peaceful places, but it is not the most dangerous place to live. Even political parties lie and cheat each other. A lot of the Americans are greedy, because they take advantages of what America offers to their citizens. Even though America is not perfect I am still glad to live in the U.S.
Some argue that being an American is wrong and unfair and the worst place on earth. Americans nowadays are lazy and rely on other people’s tax money to make their way through life, causing Americans to be mad at each other. Despite all the drama, majority of the Americans get along with each other. Willingness to pledge allegiance to the flag, pay taxes, vote, uphold the constitution and readiness to defend our country at a moment’s notice are all very important. America is a very rich and wealthy country in which we as Americans has lacked for nothing. Americans are very blessed when it comes to viewing and studying the different cultures in other

Many people dream about being an American. They dream because they envision America as the land of peace and prosperity. But is it? At times it has been, and at times its not. It is hard for the United States to be correct all the time because they have been unwilling designated as the "World Police". Throughout history there have been examples politically, economically, and socially, where being an American is rewarding and times where it is embarrassing. To be an American means progress. We evolved from a world ruled by white men to a world of equal opportunity.
What it means to be American is a definition that people have not taken the moment to realize what being American means to them the most. The founding fathers introduced the revolutionary idea that each person's desire to pursue their idea of happiness was not a self indulgence. They also created a government to defend the right for everyone. Such as the pursuit of happiness became the driver of business spirit that also defined the American free market. What does it mean to be an american? From the things we did in class and personal experience. I believe being an american means opportunity to do almost anything. I said this because we are the land of the free. But there is some obstacles that we have to deal with that can make it hard to be free.
What is an American? This question cannot be answered by one word. There are so many different characteristics, qualities, and features that can be used to describe an American. Besides features, someone is only a real American if they take advantage of all of the many privileges that are given to them. Any person that is not grateful for the privileges that are given to them to me are not real Americans but this is only my opinion. Real Americans use their privileges to benefit themselves and everyone around them. In today's society there are certain things that are expected from American citizens, for instance being a responsible citizen.
America. The land of the free and the home of the brave. This sentence from the national anthem describes what it means to be an American perfectly. Americans are on a land of freedom that is fought for by bravery. They should show it in how they act every day.
What it means to be American? Everybody you ask this question to will have a completely different response. Some responses might have similarities but none will be exactly the same. In the beginning of the year my response was “To be an American means having a rich history, having opportunities to better ourselves, and having freedoms.” Unfortunately not everyone has had the same opportunities or freedoms. Native Americans, who are indigenous, dealt with having their freedoms taken away, less opportunities even though they had rich history in this land before it was taken away from them. Look at what Zitkala-Sa endured. Not only that, but African Americans have fought long and hard for freedom and equality as well. W.E.B. Du Bois stood for
