What It Means To Be An Immigrant

Being a descendant of a veteran makes me proud of my family and its history and hardwork and dedication. Makes me proud of my country and where I come from. Helps me have a better appreciation for those who fight for our country. Makes me thankful that they give up so much like being with their family, sleep and being able to come home and take days off of work, so that I can sleep at night peacefully in my bed without having to worry about what is going on outside my house. It means putting trust in my country and everything that it stands for. It means saying that Pledge Allegiance with meaning and understanding on the words that I am saying. Helps me see things in a different light and to never take anything that I am given for granted, because there are kids fighting for their lives in other countries instead of going to school. Means waking up in the morning and going to school and working hard for a future for myself to be a positive statistic on society. It helps open my eyes to many options for the future and becoming a part of the military and fighting for what they once fought for. To return the favor to them, so they know that the tradition is not over that the young generation is willing to stand up and go through the things that they had gone through in order to keep this country safe. It means working hard to be a part of what makes this country so great, to help make what they fight for appreciated. Being a descendant of a veteran makes Fourth of July mean so much more, that it is a day that represents our freedom and what it cost to get our freedom, which is much more than just a day with fireworks and bonfires.
