There was once a little boy who always dreamed of a place being better than where he was. He dreamed of going to school each and everyday and not getting to work at such a young age. He had high hopes of being someone in life like a doctor or a lawyer. But he could have never fulfilled that dream because of expenses. He had always heard of the Great Americas, so one day he said well i'll go check out how great the Americas truly are. That one young man was my Father. He had came to the United states to work and help maintain his family of (12) in Mexico. My father's story is a true sad story that I can probably talk about forever. But the real question asked here today is what makes america great.
What makes America great? We are FREE! How
As a kid I have to many things to say about what america means to me, but in life I can always decide so america to me is the best land in the world because we have had a major history of many important people, everyday people risk their life here and protect us.Many people die for us to live, with all the history in america I can try to sum it down a bit to important times in history, George Washington our 1st president of the United States of America, born February 22, 1732 and sadly died December 14, 1799. After his death America changed for the better.
The United States of America, the self-proclaimed sole remaining superpower, often touts that it is the greatest nation in the world. Yet, when the data is analyzed, this claim is proven time and time again to be wrong, whether it is math or science, literacy or numbers, household income or workforce. Time and time again, and the numbers continue to slip. Healthcare is no exception. In 2012, the United States ranked thirty-second worldwide in life expectancy (Avendano and Kawachi 2014). Of the thirty-four Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) nations in 2010, the United States ranked twenty-sixth in infant mortality (MacDorman et al. 2010). In a 1998 study of thirteen developed nations (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and United States), the United States ranked, on average, twelfth. The rankings for the United States on each of the sixteen health indicators was: thirteenth for low-birth-weight percentages; thirteenth for neonatal mortality and infant mortality overall; eleventh for post neonatal mortality; thirteenth for years of potential life lost (excluding external causes); eleventh for life expectancy at one year for females and twelfth for males; tenth for life expectancy at fifteen years for females and twelfth for males; tenth for life expectancy at forty years for females and ninth for males; seventh for life expectancy at sixty-five years for
America has many ideas, people, and values that it can attribute its greatness to. Every single person that has ever been born in this great country has impacted the United States in countless ways. Anyone who is fortunate enough to live the life that Americans get to live, are given the chance to create, change, or continue the legacy of America.
In the essay “What’s so great about America” by Dinesh D’Souza, the India born author shares his experience while living in America. D’Souza first starts his essay saying “Here is a country where everything works”(D’Souza 237-238), everything from the highway sign to properly working public toilets. He also emphasized how overwhelmed an immigrant can find themselves while visiting a supermarket for the first time. D’Souza then compares America to most countries today that does not have the most basic of health care products like deodorant which “is unavailable in much of the Third World”. New immigrants and people all over the world are witnessing the lifestyle of the poor in America living well, other
There is no possible evidence or argument could persuade me that it is true because if America was the greatest nation in the world, there should have been no racism and discrimination, however, America is still struggling with the issues. That is one of many facts that America is not the greatest nation in the world. America does not have the best education system, economy, employment rate, and so on.
Two hundred and forty years of economic struggles and crisis, racial discrimination, police brutality, political wars, relentless political leaders, almost fair judiciary system, faith, fear, love, and compassion are some of the spices that made United States of America the greatest nation in the world today. Our founding fathers fought and thrived to make the USA a nation of togetherness, a nation without prejudices, a nation where dreams come true, a nation free from strict laws and culture, our fathers fought with all their might to bring us together and to make us stay together. Nevertheless, with all its glory and title has the greatest nation on earth, United Sates of America is still a nation
In the article of “Pro: Students must fully understand the principle that makes America great. It talks about that if the U.S. high school don’t understand the principle of freedom and equality to American government and the historical roots of principle as adults. They tend to blame the teachers for the shortcoming of America’s school, As the teacher are trained. They tend to spend too much time learning how to teach. According to the Nation Assessment of Educational Progress has shown, many students in the studies of U.S. history and government, are not even mastering the basics. But also need improve on education in science, technology, engineering, and math. As they say, they tend to blame the teacher for the shortcoming “Without a major
America stands for freedom and diversity. It’s about people of all different races, background, and history coming together to form one big country. I also think America stands for freedom of speech. It’s one of the big reason why foreigners move here. That what makes America so great we have so many people from all over who have experienced so many different things and have different perspectives and they can come to together and make a good plan for us as a country. Some countries you 're not even allowed to have freedom of speech. Countries like Burma, North Korea, Turkmenistan and Libya people are not allowed to say negative things about politics and if they think the country is being run the wrong way. If they do then they can have serious penalties. America though is a place where people can speak their mind and not have any penalty for it. It 's one of the many key attractions for so many people coming here and it being the 3rd biggest country with 322 million people and it being considered one of the world 's more diverse countries. I think we want to be perceived at country that is welcoming and friendly to newcomers. We fill that role pretty well. I was looking up on how americans are perceived on google and come across many blogs where foreigners had responses on their opinions on how they see americans. Most people were really positive on what they thought about americans. They liked their friendliness and would go back to America if they had the chance.
Simply put no, America is not the greatest country on earth; even though most American’s choose to believe it is. While I know that almost all Americans share a very strong sense of pride and nationalism; not to mention a devout love for their country, it’s just that they might not think about it 24-7. I disagree greatly with the very often wrong and misstated statistics that suggest that America is just another sad declining country; the statistics people quote are just fake and insensitive to our nation. With that said we are, as a nation, falling behind on some categories like education and healthcare. The United States is almost last in childhood obesity in 2-4 year olds; also the U.S.
America as we know it is falling apart. In past generations America was known as a great Country of freedom and unity. Now days people abuse their freedom and “rights” to far which ends up hurting others. For example the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, and protection from unreasonable search and seizures. All theses rights have been abused in many times throughout the years.
I chose the video “Why America isn’t the greatest country in the world anymore”, which is the opening scene of HBO TV Show Newsroom. This 6 minutes clip portrays an interview between host, three guests and the audience of students. Will, the main character of the clip, is very vague and diplomatic with his answers, until he is ‘forced’ to provide deeper response about the supremacy of America over other countries in the world. In his statement, he declares the opposite, that America is not the greatest country in the world anymore, and he lists the reasons why.
The great nation of the United States has relied and grown on the basis of a widely used term: “The American Dream”. Those three words for many spark feelings of opportunity, hope, and aspirations, however more so now than ever people are considering the term as three empty and even deceiving words. The root of the issue lies in the economic state of the working class and the steps that the government is taking to ensure the virtues of social class mobility in our society. In 2013 Secretary of Labor Tom Perez proposed to raise the federal hourly minimum wage from the current $7.25 to $10.10. Since then, there has been heavy political debate and controversy over the proposal and Congress has yet to act on it. The evidence through social observations and analysis is clear that raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 would protect the sacred American dream by increasing opportunity for hard working Americans, stimulating revenue for businesses, and defending the interests of our nation’s consumers and taxpayers.
People helping people are what makes America strong. We seem to forget that everyone needs help at one point in their lives. Some people go about their daily lives and seem to have blinders on. Zig Ziglar said it best “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” Stop look around and you will see the need. Horace Mann stated, “Doing nothing for others is the undoing of ourselves.”
Today I will be talking about how the people of the United States of America believe in their country. Have you ever wondered why people around the country believe in the U.S.A. Well now you can with my essay.
How is America a gift to me? I have many reasons I think America is a gift to me .I will state them in this paper for all of yall. Like Thomas Dunn said “ But the freedom they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for, Is their monument to-day , and for aye.”
