Rushing into an over crowded library, a man glances at a scuffed, plastic display containing bookmarks printed with various clichéd phrases. Among those phrases is "A dog is a man's best friend". Without thought, he rolls his eyes and continues. How could a dog mean so much to someone that they consider it their best friend? At a point in my life, I would have done the same as him. That is, of course, until I lost my best friend.
The Midwest has its positives and its negatives, but a positive that overshadows everything is its fast-food restaurant, Culvers. Their hamburgers, named Butterburgers, bring in the crowd, but what comes after the downing of a Butterburger is what makes Culvers special. That is their frozen custard, which is exactly
“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours...he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty,” says John Grogan, author of Marley & Me. Although dogs are just animals, they can bring out the best characteristics in people. Recently, an exploration of one of the most well-known pieces of canine non-fiction and an exploration of my own life has taught me just how true this is. In John Grogan’s Marley & Me and in my life, patience, flexibility, and love are frequently illustrated.

I believe dogs and books are both significant, especially in times of our sorrow. We have dogs who are loving and compassionate, and books which are best described to be our “ultimate escape.” To begin with, the author of the article, Christie Blatchford brings to our attention that humans can not solve all of our problems. “They mean to say the right thing, the comforting thing, but they say the wrong thing.” In my opinion, Blatchford’s perspective on human’s is true, as we are far from perfect. We don't always say the right things only because we haven't experienced scenarios our peers may have. However, when we have a friendly creature such as dogs, it's best they cannot talk, just comfort us by cuddling. This is what makes a dog is
In Memoir, Saying Farewell to a Faithful Pal by John Grogan describes the time their pet dog was helpful. The quote in the story that their dog is helpful to them is ‘’When i bought my wife home from the doctor after a miscarriage, that wild beast gently rested his blocky head in her lap and just whimpered (Grogan, pg 155, pp 11).’’ The quotes from the story prove that their dog is trying to comfort the owner because dogs sometimes can smell someone’s emotion or they know if their owner is sad. This animal impact change the person in the story because comforting someone is helpful to them and can make them feel happy. Although dogs helping someone is very hardworking. It’s like trying their best to make their owner happy so that’s why they are working hard.

Nevertheless, John admitted that teaching the “master-beast” basics to the dog was necessary in their relationship. Reading the book, I understood how it’s hard to have patience when a dog doesn’t obey the master’s commands. On the other hand, if a person loves dogs, he will forgive the chewed leather shoes and shredded furniture.
The saying, “ A Dog is a Man’s best friend” is true in the case of the Saint Bernard.
Dogs have been considered throughout society as man’s best friend. This is clearly seen in the thrilling story of Stickeen. First, I am going to analyze the dog’s relationship with the man. the man is on his way to meet the boys with his only companion, a wolf dog which represents the bond we have with nature. The dog relies on the man to provide warmth by fire and the man needs the dog for his instincts. I believe the that since it is a wolf dog it has both traits as a wild wolf and a domesticated dog. It is like a gateway between humanity and nature which allows us to be a part of it. The dog never left the man’s side because he needed him. The man however, the attempted to kill the dog to spare his life. The man also sent the dog across the lake knowing that the dog’s instincts could get him across. The man heavily relied on the dog for his survival and was willing to sacrifice him for the man’s

Having a dog as your best friend is wondrous. I remember coming home and being attacked with kisses. After he was gone I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I didn’t want to believe it. I would come home and I would open the door and wait for him to come and attack me but, there was nothing. He was really gone and I hated everyone for it. I blamed everyone and everything. I had become depressed and I missed him immensely. A week after he was gone nothing changed for me. My friends were worried and they tried to comfort me but nothing could make me happy. One day I stumbled upon a quote and it reminded me so much of him.
