Basic ADLs consist of self-care task that include, but are not limited to showering, bathing, personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, ambulating and transferring. IADLs are not necessary for fundamental functioning, but they let an individual live independently in their community. This includes taking prescribed medications, cleaning, grocery shopping, meal preparation and moving within the community.
