Why did you choose this recording over other ones?
Sydney has heard this song before, and she said it was good. Also, I enjoy how it is more upbeat than the rest of the songs, and the vibrato is less choppy which I enjoy more.

This piece gave that great smooth jazz feel that I associate with saxophone playing. His articulation and vibrato is just beautiful. Also, it sounds like the saxophone was the main part in the group, and I enjoy saxophone solos like
Eric Church is a country legend. He has written over 26 songs and achieved pure greatness. Eric Kenneth Church was born on May 3, 1977 in Granite Falls, North Carolina. He started getting into music when he was 13. Eric even taught himself to play guitar and by the time he was 21, he started to play for restaurants and bars. One day Terri Clark asked Eric if she could help him write a new song. Terri and Eric’s new song, “The World Needs a Drank” caught the eye of record company Capitol Nashville. Eric interviewed with Capitol Nashville hoping to get a recording contract, but he fell short to what they wanted and was declined. Then he started working with producer Jay Joyce, who perfected Eric’s singing and guitar playing. Capitol Nashville
There was saxophone improvisation during this song and though it was an improvisation it seemed to fit in perfectly with the rest of the song. It was a simple improvisation but was still very powerful. There was also a short trumpet solo that was just as simple yet powerful as the one on the
This song had a nice ballad sound to it. Casey Blackwelder played a wonderfully smooth trumpet solo. There were a few moments where the background music seemed to overpower the solo, but that did not affect the quality of the solo. The next solo was Bryce Harris on the saxophone. The solo was simple, but yet complemented the song extremely well. This song was played second and really caught and kept my
In Charles Murray's article “Are Too Many People Going to College?” he argues that the route that has been set-up, whether knowingly or unknowingly, for individuals to achieve success in their life by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) is obsolete in a modern world. He espouses six reasons for his position. In this essay, I’ll summarize Murray's position and then elucidate on his points while explaining my position on wach of his views. Lastly, I'll state my belief that getting a college degree is valuable even if it is not the source of my financial income.
During Kenny’s early touring years he played covers of Keith Whitley, Jones, and Haggard’s songs (“Chesney, Kenny.”). Some of Chesney’s favorite venues to play at early on were fairs, festivals, and roomy honky tonks were he could play for more than 2 hours (“Chesney, Kenny.”). Kenny was no different from any other up in coming artist during this time period, which was to play some of his songs and songs the crowd enjoyed listening to.
While in the head, the winds played a harmonization of one theme, the rest of the band just accompanied behind them, creating a rather homophonic texture. The form of the piece seemed rather simple, AAI, with larger structure of: intro-head-solos-head-tag. At the beginning of the piece, the drumset player was given room to improvise an intro, and it was nice to hear what he did especially after not having played many solos in the previous tunes. Right after the drumset player’s intro, the group jumped right into the head. This specific arrangement seemed to have written out snippets of Coltrane’s solo, because right after both iterations of the head, instead of jumping into the solo section there was a densely-harmonized saxophone soli that sounded like quotations. It was after this showcase and a few more embellishments from the rest of the group that the actual solos began. Most of the soloing was grounded on staying right on top of the changes and echoing the angular phrases in the head, not venturing out too far with the rhythms. I think the soloists did a good job of that, but could have taken more risks with playing around with the rhythms. However, being in the hot seat is already stressful enough on this piece that playing it safe is not a bad thing, it’s just about surviving at that
Although June 30th 2001 marked the passing of Chester Burton Atkins his style is recognizable even to this day. His influence has not faded and the country music world will always hail him as one of the most prodigious contributors to their art.
A person who can manage many jobs at once is like a talented machine. He knows what he can achieve so he goes for it. Sammy Davis Jr was a very talented child. For example, he began performing at 3 years of age, but not until “Sammy Davis Sr took him on tour with him”(Roberts). He performed across country from age 15 to age 16 (“What Sammy Davis Jr taught me”). With the help of his father, Sammy Davis Jr had his own television show (“What Sammy Davis Jr taught me”). As a result, Sammy Davis Jr turned out to be a very good entertainer.
A year later he co-chaired the “Hands Across America” fund-raiser for America’s hungry. In addition to recording new music, world tours, he became interested in photography, publishing several books, authored a few short stories and appeared off Broadway in his Christmas musical called “The Toy Shoppe.” The Professional Photographers of America extended an Honorary Masters of Photography to Rogers in 2014. Fast forward to this decade where Rogers became a New York Times best- selling author for his autobiography, Luck or Something Like It. Shortly after Rogers’ was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013, the Music Hall of Fame opened an exhibit in the Nashville Museum of his career called Kenny Rogers: Through the years.

Although I enjoyed the concert, it was very different than how I normally think of jazz. It sounded as if they're playing could've been improvisatory. Although I know that's not the case, at many parts it felt like there were three musicians playing separate pieces that didn't go together. It felt very free, and possibly purposely made to be unique. As they announced titles, they would indicate where the song comes from. Sometimes, they would indicate one of their band members and sometimes it would their version of someone else's song, such as their song “The Robots.” You can see the personalities of the musicians as they play and in their songs. The drummer, Dave King, wrote one of their songs “Keep the Bugs Off Your Glass and The Bears Off Your Ass” and was the most freestyle player. He seemed to have fun, and looked like he was completely free as he played. After relistening to the songs at a later point, I can confirm that not just his playing, but the entire song wasn’t exactly the same, which leads me to believe they do a lot of freestyle typical in jazz. Specifically, Dave King was very humorous throughout the concert. He would tell jokes the entire time between songs, and told a story about his big dream to give out ice cream at their concerts one day. Out of all of them, his personality and playing shined out the most. The performance showed clear elements of jazz and popular music as they played, using syncopation, freestyle, and melodies to musically communicate with the
Monteverdi combines styles and forms of music here to create a true masterpiece. Even though I have not studied composers very much you can get a feeling of true accomplishment by listening to this piece. AS a whole piece it flows well. The instruments accompany the voices well and the piece is fun tp listen to.
This tune should have a straight eighth-note feel throughout. Make the introduction very strong, as it sets up the piano groove to follow. The piano player should be careful not to clip the syncopated eighth notes short while playing the groove, as it’s the soul of the tune. Be sure to watch intonation on the trumpet/alto saxophone melody. With the saxophone counter lines, be very subtle. When trombones enter at measure 28, play the comping figures crisply, but not rushed. We restate the introduction at measure 45 - 48, and then we’re off to the first solo section.
Today, degrees are reflecting strongly on people’s lives. The cost of college has become too high for every student or parent to afford, which makes it impossible for everyone to obtain a degree. College level has become too tough and beyond student’s reach and abilities, not anyone who obtaining a degree can get through other majors, such as physics or math, degrees don’t evaluate your skills neither your efforts. For the most important, jobs in our market have been evaluating their applicants’ qualifications through their degrees. Degrees demand beyond the reach of people’s abilities and solutions should be suggested to undermine degrees as a job qualification.
Deciding to play the saxophone will change your life. There will be moments when you are playing that you feel so full inside, so content that you feel that all the world is the way it is supposed to be. You will also endure hardships. It won’t always be smooth jazz all day. Since I have experienced
