My first event that I think Sookan is brave, is When Sookan and Inchun go to find mother in the south. A quote to support this, "Look', is said, "that is the South. We have to cross this river by going over these cross-rungs." (Choi 162). This shows that Sookan is brave by, Sookan and Inchun were Abel to cross the river themslevs. The second fact i think that makes Sookan brave is when she goes to school. A quote to support my, answer, "I followed her into the school years, and silently took my place infront if her." (Choi 79) This shows that Sookan is brave. When Sookan walks into the schoool yard she is showing bravery. The last event that i think sookan was really brave was when she was washing grandfathers feet. "I felt like a different
One good example of courage is in Homer's epic poem, “The Odyssey,” when Odysseus enters the Cyclops’ cave. In the epic poem Odysseus and his men enter the Cyclops cave and the text states “We climbed, then, briskly to the cave. But Cyclops had gone afield..." (Homer 157-158). This example demonstrates that Odysseus enters a Cyclops cave and is not fearful. Odysseus enters the cave because he sees treasure and wants to get it for him and his crew. Odysseus chooses to enter the cave even though he knew the cave was the Cyclops home and this demonstrates courage, and this is why the trait should be encouraged. Another good example of courage that sticks out is Newton Knight, who chooses to help slaves even though he lives in the south during the Civil War. In the Biography.com Editors’s article, “Newton Knight,” Knight chooses to stop fighting for the Confederate Army and goes back to his hometown to help slaves, as the text states “They saw themselves as defending the residents of Jones County from the Confederacy” (Biography.com Editors 1). Therefore, this example demonstrates that Knight chooses to fight against the Confederate Army even though he lives in Mississippi. It takes a lot of courage to go up against the Confederate Army even though he lived in the south and almost everyone was against him. It should
A piece of evidence that shows courage is the quote “He ain’t done it! He ain’t burnt…” that shows courage because Sarty thinks they are in court because his father burns down barns so he lies for his father. I believe that shows that he is brave because he is willing to lie in front of everybody including the judge just to protect his father. He did what he thought was right at that moment.
These are three examples in the book Year of Impossible Goodbyes that show Sookan’s bravery. Sookan going to the south and starting over,Sookan taking care of Inchun for a couple of days, and Sookan running to South Korea. Sookan showed her bravery when she was going to escape to the south with her mom and Inchun. "They had come strait from jail (Choi98)" people said about the Russian soldiers so it seems brave to escape from the Russians. When they went to the security part of the journey to the south, Mother was held back and Sookan had to take care of Inchun “It was hard to be a Nuna(Choi 153)”. Even though she finds it hard, she still feeds and takes care of Inchun which shows lots of bravery. The final event really tests her bravery, crossing
First example of bravery is shown when Simon helps Joe sneak into their coach’s office which could have gotten into trouble, but he didn’t care about that fact and helps his best friend, even if it was not the right thing to do. Another example of bravery is shown when he speaks up for himself at the church. When the priest asked him for his opinion, and he stands up in front of the crowd and express his opinion. The last example of bravery is shown in the scene where they get into the bus accident and end up in the river where they get stuck. Simon decides to stay and help Joe get the kids out of the bus. When the last kid is stuck on the bus, and the bus starts sinking he goes out of his way to help the kid get out of the bus risking his life and drowning in the process. These examples show what a brave kid Simon is in the
He shows a lot of bravery throughout and he shows more bravery as the story enfolds. His braveness is showed near the end of the book when he is trying to save Kat. He is being brave at this part because by trying to save his friend he was risking his own life at the same time. When he is saving him, he says: "I jump up eager to help him, I take him up and start off at a run, a slow steady pace, so as not to
Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, shows great courage when he fights a lost battle for Tom Robinson, a black convict. Atticus knows that Tom is suppose to have equal rights in the court, but he know that racism of the jury and judge will probably result in a loss. “Courage to stand up/ For what’s right!/ Courage to stand up/ For the weak!/ Courage to know/ When a battle is lost!” (Hodges). Be Brave by Bree Hodges, gives examples of what you basically need to be brave in life. Standing up for Tom takes courage, because nobody else in Maycomb could or would take the job. The segregation and racism in that area, it makes Tom very weak in society. Atticus knows that Tom is going to lose, but that does not stop him at all from fighting.
One doesn't have to be characterized as fearless to be courageous. There are many stages throughout the book when Lee takes risks yet is still afraid. Lee’s father is a traditional Chinese man who has
Bravery allows people to challenge new things, or risky things. For example when John Proctor decided to go to the court to save Elizabeth, it required a lot of bravery. He tells Elizabeth “I will fall like a ocean on that court! Fear nothing, Elizabeth.”
One example is when he cross the border with his sister this is a courageous because he have the They take care of their brother since they were crossing the border, he cross the border for a better future and a better education. Another example was when he helping his father on the work because the family need more money also he was the bigger Brother. Another example of his courage was when he memorized the declaration of independence since I had to learn it for school, this is important because he doesn't know the language but he effort himself for learned the declaration of
These literatures express each of these examples of courage in great detail. Each character goes through a different kind of hardship, which takes courage to make it through their struggles. In the book “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian”, Junior is a little boy who lives on the reservation with his parents and older sister. Junior gets picked on alot but his friend Rowdy, beats on the kids
Braveness is something kings and leaders have. Braveness doesn’t come with everyone only certain individuals have bravery. Beowulf has bravery” he purges all evil from this hall”. He takes them
Courage is doing something even though it can be difficult and fearsome. I, for one, wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Gandhi- the list goes on and on. These famous people all have one thing in common- They fought for what they believed in. In our society today, it can be difficult to stand up for what is right in fear of going against the “norm”. Characters both fictional and in real life who have real courage, however, are not afraid to do what is right and needed for the greater good.
Bravery can help you to do something that is new, frightening, or dangerous. People may need bravery to speak out against injustice or persevere when a task is difficult. Think about an event in your life that required bravery.
My second example of courage in today’s world is my cousin’s family. At the age of only one, my cousin’s son, Max went through many brain surgeries. My cousin, his wife, and daughter all needed to be strong for Max. They had a strong faith in God. Although Max is behind for his age, they still have patience with him. They still love and treat Max with respect. My cousin takes a lot of courage to be able to stay strong for his family. My cousin’s family is a modern-day example of courage because of the surgeries and sickness my cousin, Max has
Courage is a necessity to overcome fears and achieve a desired goal. Fear is something that exists in all of us. There is no hero or any particular courageous figure that is without fear. Being fearless is not required to be courageous, one simply has to look past or overcome their fears to possess this great quality. When overcoming fears and going against the norm, there are always risks involved. There are different types of risks that come about. Someone could risk life or limb, while others risk their reputation. Either risk is serious enough that a person must have courage to endure that particular risk. Courage can occur anytime, anywhere, and often in our everyday lives. Everyone will experience courage no matter how young,
