Dogs follow their hearts, noses, and eyes. “They can be victims of their unrelenting curiosity, boundless love, and that is why we love them, why we identify with them, and why they are us” (Irvine, & Bekoff, (2004). Throughout history, humans have formed close attachments to them. The dog is a remarkable animal. Communicating is very important when it comes to the relationship between an animal and its owner. This paper will address three kinds of communication between animals and their owners: the spoken communication, body language and sensory cues.
Verbal communication is a signal for action commands to direct with authority; give an order. “Many owners believe the reason their animals will not respond to command is that they

After that special experience, we had a never-ending bond. This experience reminded me of when I first held my son Trae’Von for the first time.
“The Parallel between humans and dogs are viewed as series of successive and parallel small changes in a whole set of social skills” (Miklosi, Topal, Csanyi., 2006). Csanyi used examples of, “life-long attachment, reduced intra group aggression, enhanced cooperation, the ability to do synchronized behavior (imitation, hypnosis, dance) and complex constructive skills (e.g. mimesis, language)”. Melkosi used testing methods originally for attachment behavior in human infants. This showed similarities, are present in the owner and dog. “In the SST (Strange Situation Test), the behavior of an animal toward a familiar (owner) and stranger showed that when the animal left alone with a stranger, it ceased to play, but when the owner enters the room, they were responsive” (Mikosi et al., 2006).
People have wondered why humans and animals get along so well. Some will even say owners treat their pets like their children or part of the family. Studies have shown dogs and humans share the hormone called oxytocin which bonds mother and infants, reduces anxiety and depression, and builds trust and intimacy

It can be argued that along with cats, dogs were one of the first animals to become domesticated. For approximately 10,000 years humans and dogs have more than co-existed, they have developed a special bond unlike any other animal has developed with us. Today hundreds, if not thousands of breeds of dog exist. Although this fact remains true, all dogs belong to the Canis Familiaris family within the animal kingdom. Despite any tamed, domesticated, or docile tendencies, all breeds of dogs have traits that are derived from their wild ancestors and to this day many of those traits still exist and in fact, are quite important to the dog’s survival and mating techniques. Some of the more prominent survival tactics include digging, burying, being
As previously mentioned, I have always been drawn towards animals. At the age of six, all the way through high school, I was determined that I was destined to be a veterinarian. Growing up I watched dog training shows and learned about different animals. All of my favorite movies had talking animals in it and given human-like qualities. The more knowledge I gathered, the more I believed animals had rights. I treated all of my pets with love and formed a bond with them, even my pet fish. I used to watch Animal Cops on Animal planet with my grandma and was always appalled at the mistreatment of animals. They have feelings, thoughts, even memories, just as we do. Or, more specifically, just as children do. My dogs in particular have always been my children. The one I have now is more like my baby than previous dogs. We have formed a bond, just like the bond a mother forms with her baby. Pets become part of the family and the best
As the saying goes, a dog is a man’s best friend. The dog is a loving companion to a man. He is happy to go everywhere with his master. He shows his affection for his master by wagging his tail and licking his hand or face. This timeless relationship continues to evolve into new kinds of human-dog interactions that increasingly benefit society.
First, let me establish a road map of what I feel are key points to understanding dog communication.
Your dog is well-exercised and he understands that he needs to refer to you, so now is the time to teach commands. When you begin teaching your dog obedience commands, it will take practice. First, verbalize the command and attempt to get the dog to obey without any touching. For example, if you are teaching “sit”, you can draw the treat in a straight line form the top of the head. The dog will naturally follow the treat up and in turn his rear will go down. Repeat the command as he performs it and then give him praise. Repeat this several times with any command you are teaching so that he gets the hang of it.
Although I have heard from so many people, that a dog is a man 's best friend, I always wondered what completes their strong relationship. Similarities, loyalty, or possibly companionship? There is a reason why we call dogs a man 's best friend. We can learn so many things from a dog 's behavior, attitude, personality, and willingness to provide love and loyalty. When we come home from a long day at work, dog 's do not judge us. No matter how grumpy and tired we are, our dog is happy to see us. It will always greet us with a positive and enthusiastic mind. Appreciating what is happening at the moment, is something that we can learn from our pets. They do not think about what is going to happen tomorrow. They live in the present moment. "As we age, so many people lose the capacity to play, to have fun and enjoy the moment." (Herzog 97) The relationships between humans and dogs grow from attitude, personality and behavior. Dogs can
Can you imagine having a conversation with an animal? Well, some animals are capable of learning and using language. Psychologists are working with many types of animals to learn symbols and language.
First of all, many owners adopt puppies; allowing both to create a stronger emotional connection. A study conducted by the University of Lincoln and the University of Sao Paulo proved that dogs can not only understand humans, but they can also read and understand their emotions (Jamieson). The dogs in the trial were shown several pictures of humans with varying expressions. When the voice over the speaker said a command, the dogs would listen to the tone of the human and face towards the picture that corresponded appropriately. For example, if the voice sounded excited, the dog would wag its tail and point its attention towards the smiling face. The reactions dogs have to these type of tests show that their emotional connections to humans come almost instinctively. It is because of this trait that most hospitals arrange programs in which animals help victims recover.
Dogs are known as man’s best friend. Despite lacking the ability to talk, we understand them well. Buddyfruit, also known as “B-Fruit”, is a five-year-old male Pointer with a heart of gold. His family, the Whitfield family, brought him into their home almost three years ago. Cooper is a three-year-old male Golden Retriever with sad eyes and a joyful soul. His family, the Ruiz family, welcomed him into their family roughly a year and a half ago. From physical features, to aspects of personality, to history and background, every individual dog shares similarities and differences.
Man’s best friend: you would think that that title would conjure up images of humans, or even our closest cousins in the animal kingdom, such as monkeys, apes, and chimpanzees. However, the first image that enters most humans head is the same image that would have induced fear hundreds of years ago, the not so distant heir to the wolf: dogs. The same creatures that we feuded with for survival now take up a huge part of our lives and make up a large portion of the images littering the internet. Dogs take part in everything from movies to family gatherings, to search and rescue and emotional or physical service. Nearly fifty percent of American households alone have at least one dog, and between all of us we own 83.3 million dogs, a number not to be trifled with. The place our four-legged canine companions claim is undisputed and easily backed up.
Imagine a life with a best friend that never gets mad at people and never talks back. A famous saying you hear dad to day is a dog is the only thing on the earth that loves you more than they love themselves. This is a pretty ideal situation for most people. Studies show that a dog can be more than just a pet. A dog can be a best friend, a listener, and a healer. Animals have influenced humans through out our evolution they have become domestic and we have become reliable on our house pets for many reasons. Dogs assist many different groups of people. They play a major role in child development, heal the sick, and benefit the elderly.
For millions of years dogs have remained a constant companion of man. Bred from the aggressive and formidable Gray Wolf tens of thousands of years ago the domestic dog now lives in many homes across the world. Where in the far distant past the domestic dog was bred as a guard animal, a beast of burden, and even a food source the dogs of today are bred for a far more endearing purpose-companionship and love. Finding a pet dog that is more of a joy than a chore is necessary when asking: How much is that puppy in the window?
Dogs should socialize also not having your dog around other dogs can cause him to have a diffrent reaction. for example there is dog clubs throught the world and can be formed
Dogs can read human energy with facility. When the pack leader is calm and assertive, a dog will give calm, submissive behavior in return (Millan, “Calm”). This harmony creates a “balanced, centered, and happy dog” (Millan, “Calm”).
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form
