What really makes you who you are? Wait no a better question would be, who really makes you who you are. I believe that the single biggest factor in what made you who you are today is your family and close friends. Yeah there are things like smarts or how well you remember things, but almost everything else about you is from your family. A person's outlook on life is influenced by their family's choices and actions that are related to them. Their actions and reactions to things are a result of the beliefs and moral compass of the people around them. Almost everything you know about yourself comes from or was started directly or indirectly by your family. For instance, when you were a kid, didn’t your family put in place rules to keep you from doing things you probably shouldn’t have, well that is an instance of them giving you a sense of right and wrong. Another example would be if one of the rules was to not break anything, they just established that breaking things is bad and that people who do it should pay for it. Similarly, another example would be that they told you to hold the door for people or say please and thank you, that's an example of them giving you manners. Family members can often influence you by not even teaching you right and wrong. If they let their kid do whatever they wanted and didn’t punish them for it, then that person can become greedy or emotionless when presented with a punishment because they don’t understand why they are being punished.
For example, Lorraine's mother always tells her “you’re not a pretty girl Lorraine.”, she also always calls Lorraine fat and ugly. Lorraine’s mother does not set a good example for Lorraine because she bullies her. Another example is John’s father likes to lie which rubbed off on John, one time John’s father went around bragging how he phonied up a car insurance claim to get a hundred dollars to replace a piece of aluminum on their new car, which he had really replaced himself. John’s father taught John that lying was not bad without even knowing. John’s family also had other issues because John’s father was an alcoholic and did not care if John drank beer. John was not old enough to drink beer but his father did not care because he was an alcoholic. Both families show that they have bad family values because they are mean and
Many different fields throughout history have studied the ongoing question of how we become the person that we are. The question usually lies between whether nature has molded us and whether we have been nurtured in a specific way. For many centuries, the answer has been answered repeatedly. In Newman’s text he says that the structural-functionalists insist that the task of any society is to produce members who’s behaviors, desires, and goals coordinate with those of the society. It’s also important that these conditions are deemed to be appropriate for that specific society.
There were many people in my life that got me to who I am today. My family and friends were the main people that influenced who I am. There were many events that influenced me but the most recent one is picking early college.
I have told you how I am the way I am now. And now you know why all these things mean so much to me and give me such a boost on life. Everything that goes on in my life shapes the way I am and those main things are my family, friends and religion that gives me my personality and my view on
Throughout our lives we're influenced by many. It can have an effect on the way we view issues within societal boundaries. One of the major influences children have in their lives comes from their parents. The parents of a child can have both a positive and a negative influence on their lives. In the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird", there are two excellent examples of how parents can be a major influence on their children. Atticus Finch, father of Jem and Scout Finch, plays the loving, kind and knowledgeable father. He is an example of how parents can have a positive influence on their children. Bob Ewell, father of Mayella Ewell, plays the drunken, abusive, and neglectful father. He is an example of how a parent can be a negative

You want to know what shaped/molded me as student. Wow, that's a funny qurstion! I believed I didn't know what made me who I am, but as I look back and forth, I realized, it was me. I am my own motivation. I don't look up to anyone, I just look forward to something. I am a believer, dreamer, achiever, and wonderer. As I look around me and see how my family and others of a different and same ethnicity living their whole life on a budget, barely making ends meet, I tell myself I will be better and become better. I will not let my surroundings select or change the way I am. When I was younger, I believed everything would just come and fall into my arms. I wanted to be all of the occupations I seen on TV. I planted in my head that I would be a
All of this added up has made me a great person with manners, also so generous and because of that, every morning I wake up and feel so blessed for everything I had today. Adding to that I feel like at my age I think pretty mature not like other teenagers that grow up by themselves or their family wasn’t as much supportive, they go through the wrong path. That’s the result of the people who stand below the bridges asking for money that had helped me see and think to myself, I don’t even want to end up like that. So it always depends on family and friends who make you the person you are today whether good or
Who I am today is a result of my life experiences and the ways I have chosen to deal with them.
For example, my mother taught me right from wrong all my life, and with the negative actions I committed, she’d punish me. With actions simple as getting a grade lower than a B on my report card, going over curfew, or forgetting to take the meat out the fridge when I get home from school. I knew if she punished me for small actions, I wouldn’t want to commit any big or inappropriate, illegal actions in my lifetime. Making good moral decisions depends on what they learned to value at an early age too.
I think I am the person that I am now because of my mother, my grandmother, and the teachers who helped me during my whole life. I never had a lot of real friends, but the ones that I had where a lot special to me, and they also helped me in a lot of things. I was known for being a little lazy, but really smart. My only problem was that I used to dedicate more time in my interests that in everything else. My teachers helped me a lot during elementary school, because I was failing the school year in first grade, but thank for them I finish being 1st place during 3 consecutive years. I always follow the best steps that my mom show
Family has a way of influencing the way a person looks at things because of their family are the ones that are usually trying to teach them the lessons of life that they have to learn as they grow up. For instance, in To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus tries to teach Scout and Jem that they don’t really know a person until they walk around in their skin and live their life. Harper Lee states, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view…” (39). As a result of Atticus teaching Jem and Scout this he is saying that Jem and Scout should never judge someone if they don’t know who they are or what they go through.
Our beliefs is another example of what makes us, us. What you believed in when you were younger is probably different to what you believe in now. As you get older, these things will continue to change. Our personality may change. We may go through a rough time in our lives, that might change true way we act or the way we think. In the poem “The Rose that Grew from Concrete” written by Tupac Shakur, there is a rose that grows from concrete. The rose symbolizes humans. It says how anyone can get through hard times, and when they do, they become stronger. As you continue your life, you may realize that who you thought you were, isn’t actually who you are. For example, you may have the thought that you liked one of your hobbies, but as you grew older, you started disliking that hobby. This all connects with figuring out who you are and your
What are the specific things that make me, me? I love being happy. I love what being happy brings; joy from your heart that makes you smile with laughter. That joy that God gives, that surpasses all understanding and lights up your face where everybody can see the glow that shines. People love that light because it is contagious, and it is hard to be ignored. Adults and children are attracted
What is it that makes us who we are? Is it how we were raised? Is it the specific time and location in space during our birth? Or is it by mere choice alone in every moment that makes us who we are at that moment, ever-changing? I could tell you that they are all are true. And I could also tell you that they are all false. And guess what, both statements would be correct. Here’s another shocker, truth is relative. You can turn something from an untruth into a truth and vise versa all with the power of belief, thought, and faith. If you truly believe with all of your heart that you are a product of your upbringing and nothing more, then you have made that true. You’ve also chosen to be a victim of your past but hey if that’s the truth you want you got it. Now if you believe that your upbringing is the past and nothing more, and that you choose moment by moment who you are, then that is true. Truth is based on your reality. And your reality is based on your thoughts and beliefs. There is no set reality. There are no set truths. Reality, just like truth, is relative to the being who perceives it. Now personally I have chosen not to be a victim of my past for that is all that it is, the past. And the past, just like the future, exists only in our minds. Without your mind, without you remembering the past or dreaming of future possibilities, there is no past and there is no future. There is only NOW. The universe has no concept of past or future. It only
