Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States. While being president he was trying to lead our country through a time of economic depression and total war. Franklin D. Roosevelt was one of the most important leaders of the 20th century. Alan Brinkley, the author of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, wrote this biography in order to show Roosevelt’s life from childhood to presidency and all the trials and tribulations that occurred.

What does it take to hold the title of best president? Well it takes someone who has effective plans they can put in place to help lead this country, someone who can get the people and government on the same page (trust factor), they will have to be ready for any and everything, a leader of superior proportions. All of these traits are those that Mr. Roosevelt possess in the way he handled the Great Depression, thirteen million people out of jobs, and World War II.That is why I believe that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was truly the best president because he got stuff done, he was firm in his actions not just his voice.

While it is true that America has had many historical figures who became President, Theodore Roosevelt can be remembered as one of the greatest presidents of America, this is mainly because of his extraordinary amount of previous achievements before eventually becoming president of the United States of America. He was a Cowboy, New York City Police Commissioner, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Colonel in the war of cuba, Veteran, Governor of New York, and Vice President. Theodore Roosevelt was the most energetic man ever to fill the office. In my opinion, he was the President who was more creative in laying out the progressive agenda. He was first to established what the government had to do. In other words, he had to convince Congress, media, and the public as a whole that the Country needed to go in his ideals of direction. A progressive politician who believed federal government should take charge, and expanded powers of the presidency. He also established the FDA to regulate punitive of drugs. Known as a trust buster, which meant that he was always fighting the big companies, so there would be fair competition. I believe that World War II was a continuation of World War I because of some not resolved issues. Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles by expanding the military and invading Poland. One of the events that led to the beginning of World War 1 was: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism; which stands for MAIN. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia but they then joined up with Russia. After, Germany declared war on Russia which caused the war to expand. World War I ended in 1918 when Germany surrendered. It also had a great impact on European countries after it ended.

Roosevelt had two opportunities to involve America in World War II: Japan was at war with China, and Germany was at war with Great Britain, France and other countries. Both war zones presented plenty of opportunities to involve the American government in the war, and Roosevelt was quick to seize upon the opportunities presented.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was a man who besides his intelligence, charm and strong confidence, he was able to sustain the nation through the most overbearing crisis know as the Great Depression as well as World War II. While managing to stay optimistic, Franklin Roosevelt helped people regain faith in themselves. Despite all the chaos going on at the time, “he was met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory (pg. 90).” He was praised for pushing the government to help those who were underprivileged. This was a new beginning in time for Americans known as the New Deal. He told the country to live by; “The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself (pg 90).” Franklin Roosevelt made a very

Pearl Harbor, the first sneak attack by another country on US soil was a pivotal beginning to the war for the United States. There were many reasons for the United States to get involved into the war and help its allies, but it was Pearl Harbor which forced us into it. Because of Pearl Harbor, Hitler and the crimes against humanity that he committed it justified United States entry into the war.

However, the American people did not want to enter in another war, such as World War I, that costs so many lives and money.
