President George W. Bush responded to the events of 9/11 with force and comfort for the citizens of the United States while condemning the terrorist attacks. On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, the United States of America was under attack. The Islamic terrorist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked several airplanes. “They crashed two into the World Trade Center in New York City, igniting infernos that soon caused these buildings...to collapse,” (875 Foner). Another plane hit the Pentagon, “the country’s military headquarters, in Washington D.C.,” (875 Foner). In addition, a plane on its way to Washington D.C. “crashed in a field near Pittsburgh, killing all aboard,” (875 Foner). In response to the attacks, “Americans tried to bolster the rescue effort in any way they could. Cities and towns sent firefighters and EMTs to Ground Zero,” (History.com Staff). Although the 9/11 attacks are one of the worst terror attacks targeted towards our country, the horrible events united us as a nation in the aftermath. “September 11 enveloped the country in a cloud of fear,” (875 Foner). Among the terror of these events, America looked upon their leader, President George W. Bush, for strength and guidance. President George W. Bush did just this. When reading the president’s speech, one can almost tear up over the encouraging, eloquent words used to unite us as a nation. President George W.
