What Was Your Personal System For Ensuring That You Achieve Your Goals?

I had set some goals for my internship- to earn experience from it, to earn 3 credits from it, to learn to work in the team, to gain confidence, and gain valuable understanding of the accounting field and will be able to better grasp the things how my coursework is preparing me to enter my chosen career and to strengthen my CV.

I have learned that I must adapt my plan of action and tailor my reaction to the needs of others. There were many times where interruptions from customers or my supervisors occurred while I was doing an assigned task, however, their interruptions were more important than the task I was working on. The pressures and stresses in the workplace are inevitable, and it is up to me to adapt to those pressures. The skills I gained in customer service and the knowledge I learned about the organization in such a short amount of time has allowed me to undergo any stresses that arise. I was able to prioritize my tasks and account for the interruptions that may temporarily stop me from finishing them. I have also gained skills in teamwork and leadership. I have become a better leader and collaborator, as I am able to communicate my thoughts and ideas explicitly to my peers and supervisors. In addition, I value the work most do in offices because at times it is very tedious. Every individuals job is important in an office setting because it is like a well running machine. If one part is not functioning then the entire machine is useless. It is crucial to be responsible with all tasks to have the company running smoothly. By meeting deadlines at the time stated or earlier. As well as always taking initiative for tasks you might understand how to complete because it may help your company excel . It allows you to gain experience and develop you skills, which is how this internship has helped me. What was missing or disappointing, if anything, about this internship? What was especially rewarding and educational?

I’m still confident that my knowledge, skill sets, and experiences from my past internships will be a great contribution while I am learning about International TV/Media market and an insight on how a high level business office works, and what creative input is needed for a successful marketing and positioning. Each professional spoke about the internship programs in their own companies. They then talked about the most important factors when applying for internships. Having a 3.0 is more important than a 4.0 because it will get you in the door for an internship. From there, experience and internships become much more important. Related experience includes internships, projects, and research experience. One of the best ways to stand out once obtaining an internship is to “articulate a desire to learn”. As you are given work in an internship, the panelist suggested that you should be sure to show that you are interested in learning more about what you are doing or about learning new things. Another interesting idea that was discussed was about the outcome of an internship. An outcome of an internship is often the realization that you do not want to continue with the work you are doing. This realization is still an extremely valuable outcome from any internship

At the beginning of this internship, I did not know what to expect. It was the first time I was going into a professional work place and a professional setting every day. Therefore, my expectations were based on my assumptions of an internship that I have observed through the media and the opinions of other students.

My published work on “The Hub” and my knowledge of social media helped determine what activities I would be doing. I would tell students who are getting ready to do an internship to offer to help with anything they can. It shows drive and initiative, and the staff will appreciate it. I feel like the courses that best helped me prepare for this were online journalism production, reporting, and news presentation 1. I did a lot of video work and writing in these classes, and that is what my internship focused on. My best experiences were when I got to help with working with the reporters. If I could do it over, I think I would have made a few changes to my internship experience. Due to busy schedules, I found myself a little disorganized with time management in other classes and my personal life. Although I tried being organized at the top of my responsibilities, I could have allocated more time for networking with the fellow staff members from the corporate office and other clinics of Oak Street Health on different locations.

     I was able to be successful in this internship because I had to utilize and develop many new skills. I used my interpersonal skills such as: coping strategies; peer relationships and effective social skills; communication, problem-solving techniques, decision-making, conflict resolution, how to work in a team, where everyone depends on each other and a lot of patience. I developed many new skills such as multitasking, problem solving/decision making, and leadership qualities. I learned that I am a role model. It is important to develop a good relationship with students; however, I must keep in mind that I am expected to behave myself in a professional manner at all times. I also learned some of the important skills of a teacher such as: how to provide direct instructions, clarify content, teach skills and answer the students questions; help students identify their skills, abilities, and long term plans regarding education and personal problems.

This is a priceless opportunity. The skills I would perfect while in the internship will better prepare me for life after school. I hope to also learn new skills and techniques to better my performance. These will better equip me to handle situations

At the beginning of the internship, each intern was required to make a list of goals they hoped to accomplish throughout the internship. We were given four categories to consider. The first area was Leadership Effectiveness. My goals here were: be focused and committed to the engagement and willing to overcome obstacles; maintain a professional approach, especially when representing the organization; and keep a positive attitude and respect others. The second area was Management Effectiveness, and my related goals were: stay within the constraints of time budgets when managing responsibilities; continually seek feedback, formal and informal, to know how/what to improve; and communicate clearly and often to keep team updated on progress of project. Service Excellence was the third area, and my related goals were: understand the why, not just the how, of assignments; learn team expectations and client’s business; and maintain high-quality services using knowledge gained from team. The last area was Marketing, Sales, and Communication. My goals here
