The exposition of the story is when Swift and Henderson are debating over whether the machine, Multivac, or the men who created it, won the war for Earth. The rising actions of the story is when Henderson explained how Multivac's data was corrupted and how he created his own data to put in the machine and how he believes he won the war. Jablonsky then discredits Henderson and states that he knew the machine was malfunctioning, so instead of the computer making suggestions, he made them himself, so he believes he won the war. Swift then states that he couldn't leave such an important decision up to the computer, and he ignored anything that came from Jablonsky. So, neither man won the war. The climax of the story is when Swift admits that he

We finished fighting in the Battle of Fredricksburg. This battle went from December 11-15, and I am glad that I am one of the lucky ones to survive. We tried to make it a surprise attack, but the South was prepared. Major General Ambrose E. Burnside was our general for the battle. The souths was General Robert E. Lee. Our army arrived in Falmouth on November 15, but the pontoon boats were on a delay. Some men in the army started to assemble the boats on December 11, but Mississippians started shooting at the men trying to assemble them. We had to row across the Mississippian river, and drive the troops out of the town. After long fights in the streets, the Mississippians withdrew and then the pontoon bridges could be built. After, on the 12th,
December 1777 at Valley Forge. Valley Forge is George Washington’s winter camp. Valley Forge is a difficult place to live. The continental army is who stays in the camp. The army is not doing so good at this time but there is still a chance of winning. If you were a soldier would you quit? If I was a soldier I would not quit because there are a lot of sick people but not dying people, the conditions are bad but brave soldiers stuck with it, and I do not want to be a summer solder because freedom is worth fighting for.
The men have a discussion about who starts the war and they reach the conclusion that no one person really starts the war. The men were all sitting and wondering “how a war gets started” (97). At first albert says that it's the kaiser but then he says "No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there it is” (98). The men reach the conclusion that one person doesn't start a war but rather, it just happens, and nobody wants it.

Battle of the Speeches Essay The conflict of Lincoln vs. Davis, Battle of the Speeches developed in 1861, when the the last southern states seceded from the union. The southern states reason for seceding was to protect their states’ rights because they felt as if Abraham Lincoln, who was the president at the time, was taking their sovereignty. President Lincoln wanted everyone, including slaves, to be free; he deeply believed everyone was equal, but the south ran on slaves. After the southern states seceded, they formed the Confederate States of America, which then elected Jefferson Davis to be their president.
The First Battle of Bull Run was part of the Manassas Campaign. The campaign was the result of the Confederates moving their capital from Montgomery, Alabama to Richmond, Virginia. The move was strategic to gain more readily access to railroad transportation. An essential railroad point was located at Manassas Junction in which the Confederates relied heavily on for supplies. President Lincoln wanted to cut off all supply routes to the south. Thus, the objective of the campaign was for the Union Army to gain control of Manassas Junction forcing the Confederates to surrender. Since the battle was the first major land battle, the campaign was affected from the lack of either Brigadier General exercising command in combat. Hence, the First
The Future of America, its citizens, and its enslaved people hinged on the outcome of the American Civil War. The Civil War was fought between the North (Union) and the south. The Battle of Antietam took place on September 17, 1862 near Sharpsburg, Maryland, and it was the bloodiest day in American history. Before the battle, the confederacy had a better chance of winning the war. Conflict arose between McClellan and Robert E. Lee which sparked the invasion of the north and the beginning of a long war. McPherson argued in his novel that the battle of Antietam was the turning point of the Civil War.
At this point in the book we are showed the major conflicts between Man and Nature. It basically proves that man can not win.
The river was an important avenue of approach for the Union army to reach and gain control of Vicksburg. The Loess Bluffs bordering the Mississippi River provided excellent observation positions for Confederate artillery to fire upon any enemy approaching via the river. Ships were particularly vulnerable to their fire because of an oxbow north of the city’s waterfront where ships were forced to slow down to make the treacherous turn. The river approach afforded no opportunities for cover and concealment.
The Battle of Bull Run was one of the first major battles in the United States Civil War. The battle took place on July 21st, 1861 just twenty five miles southwest of Washington D.C., which was also the center of the Union Government. This battle also convinced the Lincoln administration and the North that the Civil War would last longer than they expected and would be consisting of bloodier fights costing many more lives. The US Civil War is known as the second most deadly war America has ever experienced (behind World War II). The leading commanders of the Battle of Bull Run were General Irvin McDowell, from the Union, and Brigadier General P.G.T. Beauregard and General Joseph E. Johnston, from the Confederacy. Neither of the commanding generals from North nor South was remotely ready for the conditions and the casualties their armies would endure in this war. The most important thing they did not know was that the Battle of Bull Run was this battle would help start the deadliest war the US has ever experienced.
The War of 1812 was a war between Britain and the United States fought primarily in Upper Canada. It had many causes, few which involved British North America. The results of the war include the fact that there was no clear winner or loser among them. The only real losers in the situation were the Natives in the region. They were driven out of their lands and customs. None of the borders was changed by the war, though many attempts were made. The Treaty of Ghent, which ended the war, did nothing to advance the state of the countries. It went so far as to end the war and put things back the way that they were, but the main causes of the conflict were not addressed or dealt with. In order to evaluate the significance of this war,
From being a well-known war hero in the War of 1812 to becoming the 7th president of the United States, Andrew Jackson lived a marvelous life. His past life may have affected him greatly, but it never stopped him from moving to one role to another. In addition, Jackson had gone through great lengths to obtain his position and popularity as president. He was the first self-made man, who started from very low points in his life, who became president. Furthermore, he was well known for his casual temper tantrums and his short temperedness, though he was also known for representing the rights of the common man. If he had conflicts with certain groups, he would deliberately declare war on them with no second thoughts. Furthermore, he is the kind of man who would not deal with these conflicts so he would turn to violence. Because yes, violence is the answer to all problems. Andrew Jackson is a unique kind of fellow to learn about, and most people would only know him as a tough man who always leads things to violence. Some may have not known the many difficult obstacles that Andrew has faced in his life in which he had to surpass in order to have gone so far and be very successful. Also, all the things he has done has gained him a guaranteed spot for a guy to remember!
