Well, to start off with I’m just thankful for being alive. Not everyone gets to have an easy going life with their whole family. The love I get is huge and surprising in general. I’ve had my share of mistakes, horrible ones, but my family and friends all still care for me and my well being. What I’m thankful next are my features my abilities. I really love how tall I am, it makes me smile everytime I see myself in the morning. Sure I’m not the best looking guy in the world, but I know I have a big heart. In this cold lonely place we call life people always forget about what's important. We’re all so cold nowadays it’s rough looking at some people whose good gentle hearts have turned to stone from bitter feelings. But the last thing I'm thankful
The first line. It feels like our lot in life is to live in a constant struggle. The struggle. That is what it is. Every day. Will it be good? Bad?- RA, NYC
Spike Lee's film Bamboozled (2000), cinematically stages American mass entertainment's history of discrimination with humiliating minstrel stereotypes which was first brought to film in 1915 by D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation. Blackface' minstrelsy is a disturbing legacy that began as a tradition in the early 1800s on stage, with white actors using burnt corks to darken their skin and "allowing them to portray African-American slaves, usually as lazy, child-like providers of comic relief" (4). This eventually evolved into Vaudeville-style parody shows consisting of songs, dances and comic skits. This tradition represented an accepted way of looking at African-Americans and was the first form of American mass culture that created
In Joe Nocera’s article, “Let’s Start Paying College Athletes”, he argues that college athletes should be paid for playing sports. Nocera begins his article by providing an example of how some athletes will receive money that is perfectly fine while other athletes cannot accept any money or else that player will be in violation of NCAA rules. It’s evident that there are large amounts of money involved in the college sports. Top college coaches can make as much or more than professional coaches. Together with men’s basketball, College football have become huge commercial enterprises generating huge amounts of annual revenue (Nocera, 2011).
My story has a meaningful story behind it. The story is deep for me and even for the artist and probably for many other people. Hearing songs like this can inspire you. It inspired me to be thankful for the people in my life. One day they can be here the next they could be gone. You never know what’s going on in their lives.
Throughout the years that I lived in, there has been many bad things happening to me. The only bad thing that I give thanks to were the time when my dad would spank me for very good reasons. At the time I would be crying and hoping he wouldn’t but they were well deserved. With every spank it hurt, I know that, but later on with every mark I had I knew that pain is temporary it may last for a minute or an hour or a day even a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take it’s place. While that something is getting back it’s time to come back stronger and better because of it and I’m showing that the world is not a happy and peaceful place no it’s a mean and nasty place and it will beat you on your knees if you let it. I have shown that it hasn’t beat’n me from all the hits it has given me, I was able to look up and get up from that situation because it’s not how hard you hit the world it’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward how much pressure you can take and keep moving forward.
Be thankful for what you have is just one of my three themes. It inspires me because as a kid, I was always taught to be thankful for what I have. In the poem, “Poverty and Wealth” you thanked God daily for health and toil. “And thanked God daily for health and toil.” When
Are you thankful for something? Well I am. I’m thankful for a roof over my head, good health, and family. Being thankful is when you express your gratitude and relief to others that do a lot for you. You can show someone you're thankful by doing the littlest things. So this Thanksgiving show someone how thankful you are. It doesn’t even have to be Thanksgiving, you can thank someone anyday. You can show thanks by baking cookies for a loved one, or you could even just tell someone thanks. I hope you take what I just told you, and go thank someone, because it’s not that hard. Now I’m going to tell you what I’m thankful for and why.
If it wasn’t for special people in my life-like Ms. Quick, Mr. Saeugling and my parents I wouldn’t be in the position that I’m in today. Because of them, I now enjoy reading. Even though I’m still not the best at writing essays, I’m going to continue my writing skills because I want to be a better writer. Now that I look back, I’m just truly grateful and bless to have had people in my life that want to see me to
There’s nothing more important in this world than having a reason and purpose to live. It’s what strives us, it’s what motivates us, it’s what carries us (anaphora). I look forward to life and the things it throws at me for I feel that I am ready. Challenges I faced as a kid have prepared me for the challenges I will face as an adult. I was constantly put in new environments as a child. I went to 3 elementary schools and 2 middle schools. No matter how much my life changed, I came to admire it. As the old saying goes “If life hands you lemons, you make lemonade” and I did just that (idiom). I am grateful for all the friends and memories I’ve made on my journey. However, I am most grateful for my family for allowing to be on this journey. This journey created who I am
Thank you for all that you do whether it’s the music you make with AFI, Dreamcar, or Blaqk Audio or your compassion for animals you’ve helped me through some of my toughest times and I don’t think I would be here or who I am today if it wasn’t for you you have been a big part of my life and I cannot thank you enough never stop what you’re doing I appreciate you and all you do and to me you will always be my biggest role model
You both are so prominent in my life and I could not be more thankful for that. This year has brought about a lot of challenges, while also many good times. Like, showing up to Disney at six in the morning after not sleeping the night before. Or finding out that I have a high chance of surgery, but you both were there through it all. Thank you for always loving me in the good and the bad times. “You taught me to do the right things. You’ve given me everything I will need to make it through this crazy thing called life. So don’t you worry about me. There’s no way you’ll ever lose me”; YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME, YOU TOO
Growing up in San Francisco was not easy. My life has been a up hill battle. I’vealways been a free spirited person. Always loved sometimes loved the wrong people. I grew up in San Francisco. Most people think of San Francisco as this wonderful free love place. Well it’s not this wonderful free love place. Fillmore is what my neighborhood was called. This Fillmore place was a very dark violent place. Many don’t make it out. Either you die young, or you go out on drugs. I always wanted more out of life. I always felt that if I could escape this dark unkind place I would be a better person. Sometimes as a child I would dream of living in a real family setting. You know a father that lived with my mother and I. “A real family not a dysfunctional one”. School has always been a outlet for me. I could go to school and learn, learn, learn. I’ve always been
Throughout this course many theories of leadership have been discussed. There are leadership traits that I feel would be appropriate for a nurse manager. I have had some experience with leadership and management both in the military and in the hospital. Healthcare currently maintains employment of numerous educational levels that require leadership; Masters of Science in Nursing level nurses (APRN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing level nurses (BSN), Licensed Practicing Nurses (LPN), and Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) are potentially within a team and will need positive, proactive leadership. In this paper I will reflect on my own leadership skills to those traits that I find to be of importance in healthcare.
“You will be thankful in the future”, is what I’m constantly hearing. I could never seem to understand why, but as I’m slowly maturing, I’m beginning to comprehend: my father is strict. As I age, he appears to grow increasingly more strict Never do I leave the house without him asking for the address of where I’m traveling to, or checking my assignment notebook to assure I’ve finished all my homework. As time goes by, I’m finally discovering all the reasons behind why he is the way he is.
I believe there are many traits in life that make you a good person and lead you to live a happy life, but being grateful is one of the best traits you could obtain. Being grateful is one thing I feel many people in our society forget to do. One day I learned to always appreciate what I have instead of what I don’t.
