Have you ever wondered if we need nature more than nature needs us? Anthony Brandt, the author of “When Nature Comes too Close,” writes that nature causes many problems. He shows this by stating only negative things about nature and not the positive things in nature. Humans and nature affect each other equally because humans spray harmful pesticides to protect their food supply, animals spread diseases that can be harmful to humans and humans and nature are able to exist together while benefiting each other. Humans spray harmful pesticides, which is both necessary and unnecessary. In the movie, Pesticides: Harmful or Necessary, the author of the film tried to prove his point that there were good things and bad things about spraying pesticides. The film showed both Rachel Carson’s view that pesticides are harmful and Dr. Robert White-Stevens’s view that pesticides are necessary. The pesticides helped to protect their crops from bugs, but then it caused cancer among the humans. The pesticides killed all bugs, which then damaged the natural food chain. In the article, “When Nature Comes too Close”, the author, Anthony Brandt, writes that animals cause harm to humans by carrying deadly diseases such as lymes disease and rabies. Also, he believes that animals physically harm humans such as in bear attacks. Animals can also do damage to our properties, for example “moose can be major road hazards, as cars do not intimidate them.” Deer cause most of the problems because their population increasing in large numbers. This is obvious in the large number of lymes disease cases and accidents caused by hitting a deer on the road.
