The documentary When We Were Kings, was created using many athletics’ of realism to create an accurate and detailed story of Muhammad Ali’s life. This is a nonfiction film made up of many different fight clips, interviews, and discussions between characters, which made it simple for this film to show how Muhammad Ali’s life actually was during the time period around 1974. When considering the elements to make up a film based on truth and realism it is easy to see that many of the elements overlap. For example, the film cannot have on-camera interviews without real people, and it cant have stock film without real people, and stock film can be of the on camera interview, so with that being said it is important for any director to connects all …show more content…
When We Were Kings is primarily made of stock films besides when there are people who come into the film to speak on this behalf. These pieces of stock film including Ali training, speaking highly of himself, George Foreman training, and also many musical clips were inserted giving a more African film. One clip that really stuck out to me was after the narrator talks about how Foreman would be punching a watermelon size whole into his punching bag which then they showed a clip of Foreman at practice and he really has punched a giant dent in the bag. They then showed stock film of Ali also entering the gym where the narrator spoke over the clip saying when Ali would enter the gym he would not give any attention to Foreman and the damage he was doing to his punching bag, instead he would just walk by the man as if he were a nobody. The use of the stock film in this clip is very useful in knowing how powerful Foreman really was, and how Ali’s arrogance gave Foreman no attention. Without the use of stock film in many of this film we wouldn’t really get to know Ali as well, because we would just hear of what he did. With the combination of the narration over the stock film the audience is able to see and hear about Ali’s greatness, which backs each other up giving the audience a sense of truth in what they are seeing and
After being jailed in the Birmingham city jail, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a Baptist minister who preached nonviolence, wrote this response to a published statement by eight fellow clergymen from Alabama. This letter was not only composed under somewhat constricting circumstances but was written in a way that can be analyzed to be considered as a classic argument. Not only does it contain the five elements needed in a rhetorical situation, but the letter includes the six parts of an argument, the five types of claims, and even the three types of proofs. Dr. King’s letter fully satisfies all requirements needed in order to be considered a classic argument.
After Being Dragged out of their homeland, brought to an unknown country, and forced to be slaves, African-Americans saw a road trip to equality through the eyes of Martin Luther King, Jr. Even after being emancipated from slaves to citizens, African-Americans were not ready to wage the battle against segregation alone. The weight which African Americans carried on their back, was lightened when they began to see what Martin Luther King, Jr. brought to the table against segregation. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the single most important African-American leader of the Civil Rights Movement and was responsible for dramatically improving the chance of equality for African-Americans. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the key individual, which helped

The year of terror is one of the most complex and misunderstood periods in the French Revolution. Palmer, in his book, Twelve Who Ruled, however, takes this period and skillfully turns it into a written masterpiece. The book is narrated from the point of view of someone with an omniscient knowledge of the subject matter, who is reflecting back on the period from the outside.
Rufus King Manor Museum, located in Jamaica, Queens was once the home or Rufus and his family. He grew up in wealthy family himself and was the son of a merchant. When he got older, Rufus attended and graduated from Harvard where he studied to be a lawyer. Aside from being interested in law, he was a statesman and a farmer. During his years of dedicated studying, he postponed his education to serve in the militia and fought in the Revolutionary war of 1778. Soon after served as a member of the confederation congress where he planned on making a difference by stating his opinions on slavery and trying to make a change.

Spielberg adds another dash of realism to the film by throwing in real historic footage to the mix. The most effective contribution to the realism and documentary styling is the genuine historic footage of the real Schindler Jews visiting Schindler's grave alongside the actors who played them in the film shown during the end. This suggests that the characters featured are not fictional and that the events in the film really took place. It stresses that these people really had families who cared for them and are of some significance to history.
Louis XIV had a passion for glory and used it to fight four wars because he was motivated by personal and dynastic considerations.
The two historical documents, Narrative of Lavinia Bell written by an anonymous author in the Montreal Gazette and the Letter to an English Abolitionist by James Henry Hammond, shared their strong opinions on the important issue of slavery. These documents were written in the 1800’s during an era of progressive changes. One can identify similarities and many differences in their opinions, motives, and goals for their writings. I believe Bell’s account was written to show the perspective of slaves’ brutal view, compared to Hammond’s letter justifying slavery and the rights of the slaveholders.
Today like yesterday, the day before that, and a hundred years ago the United States continues to face many social issues.
What is ambition? In the dictionary ambition is defined has “an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, (ex) power, honor, fame, or wealth. The willingness to strive for its attainment”. From this definition I do not even believe that Macbeth really had any ambition of his own. I do not think his ambition was not Macbeth’s greatest weakness but more is gullibility and being able to be swayed into the directions of others. In the story of Macbeth of Macbeths miss fortune is caused by first the prophecy of the witches and secondly of the discouragement of his wife constantly degrading him causing him to prove his self willing and able. Also with the swaying of others making Macbeth feel he needed these
Although Louis XIV, also known as Louis the Great, brought death and destruction through his wars, there are many positive aspects of his reign, such as the creation of Versailles and the building of France’s national army. He did what had never been done before. He changed the lifestyle and the attitude of France by creating one of the most powerful monarchies ever to be built and at the same time, reassured all the nobility and other wealthy groups of their political and social standings. He made it clear that he was the final decision maker yet he still needed the help of the nobility and other authorities.
Both men had a common ability to see the goodness in other men as royal
The history of the modern world derives from thousands of years of human history. Embedded in its history are the many eras of man which have constructed our modern learning, art, beliefs, and order. The middle ages, although represented as “dark”, backwards, and idle, were in fact a bridge linking the classical and modern world. Medieval society may not have been in a sense glorious, but the era of itself was a prime foundation of the modern world’s newfound stability, a revival of the law and teachings from the classical era, a reinvestment and reform in the church, and a precursor to the golden age of art.
Some say the glorious revolution was one of the greatest landmarks in the history of England. The glorious revolution is a very important event in history for multiple reasons. It wasn’t exactly a peaceful occasion but it was one in which no war of fight occurred. This was a pleasant change for England at the time because they had been experiencing plenty of fights over the throne and for once it was a relatively smooth transaction.
