Who Are Leonardo Da Vinci's Works?

It is necessary, first of all, a few words about the sources that allow us to grasp the Leonardo da Vinci's designs, in addition to their own works of art (which are nonetheless sometimes an embodiment of some of these ideas) . Leonardo da Vinci's writings about art find themselves spread over many notes in notebooks or isolated leaves margins. Often, he wrote these notes backwards so as to hide them from unwanted prying, in which case the notes must be read through a mirror to be understood. One of the most important of these Leonardo da Vinci's writings collections was undertaken by Richter, a scholar who in the late nineteenth century published the writings of Leonardo da Vinci Literary. These, in brief, are the written sources that allow us to delineate more precisely the conception of art developed by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as a number of other ideas of this genius born near Florença4. On aspects related to the life of Leonardo, but also for other artists of the period, there is a source of his own time: the famous "Artists Lives" of Vasari5.
Although only published more systematically long after, in fact the influence of Leonardo da Vinci's writings had begun to give the very life of the Italian artist and scientist, since some of them came to circulate the Italian workshops of the time. Thus, it can be said that the ideas and concepts of Leonardo helped redirect the Renaissance conception of art, at least in some points. But, as stated above, even considering that Da Vinci was a brilliant visionary, he was also a man of his time, so that the naturalistic and humanistic vision of the Renaissance period designs on it
