Ask students if they have and questions or concerns they would like cleared up before moving into the activity.
Clarify and answer these questions before moving into activity introduction and directions.
Once questions are answered and all students feel comfortable moving forward then give introduction of the lesson activity.
“As we have learned from the textbook tensions between colonists and the British continued to escalate. By 1774, the colonists had begun to organize and train militias. The Battle of Lexington, on April 19, 1775, is considered the first battle of the American Revolution. Today, we’re going to try to figure out who fired the first shot.”
On the evening of April 18, 1775, there were shots fired between the British and the Colonists. The question on the table here is; Who fired first? The event of the shooting took place in Lexington near the Bedford road. Both parties claim the other company is responsible for the shots fired. The British say they came into the colonists’ area, yet they did not fire until the colonists did. On the other side, the colonists state the British came in and fired, so they dispersed but did not shoot. This was the case until one individual confessed to giving them “the guts of his gun” from a distance after the rest had fled. Both companies have very different statements. I have sided with the colonists sin believing the British fired first.
The battle happened in Lexington, Massachusetts. The battle took place on April 22, 1775. The shot was a shot that was heard around the whole world. Either the British or the Colonist fired the shot first. Who do you think fired the shot first colonist or British. Because It says “ The country people shot so the soldiers shot back and killed almost all of them”. I think the British fired first who do you think did?
The first battle that caused the Revolutionary War took place at lexington, Massachusetts on April 19th, 1775. Which side fired first is unknown. It could have been british or colonist, but from what we know about the event, the most logical answer would be the colonist fired first. Even though there are evidence for both sides of the story, evidence that proves colonist shot first is most reasonable and understandable. There are even more personal opinions that could persuade most people that they fired first. Also they had every right to do so.
Who was the first one to fire in the Battle of Lexington? The Battle of Lexington was fought between the British and the thirteen Colonies. The day before the British and Colonist were already arguing over taxes. There are so many different sides to this story. This battle led up to the Revolutionary War. When the British and Colonist got together, the British stated, “Put down all your weapons, you damned rebels, or we will kill you all.” After that the Colonists’ captain ordered every man to take care of himself. Now I will tell you how I think the British shot first.
The question who fired the first shot in Lexington is hard to answer. but I know that the colonist fired first on April 19, 1775. Which created the revolutionary war that liberated the colonist from the British. The cause of this conflict between the British and colonist is due to the British’s acts they put on the colonist. For example, the intolerable acts which made the colonist angry towards the British.
In 1775, the battle of Lexington and Concord was fought in Massachusetts between the American colonists and the British. The first battle fought in the American Revolution was the Lexington and Concord battle. The British troops were led by General Thomas Gage. They were leaving Boston and marching toward Lexington and Concord because they were out to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock, who were rebel leaders. The British’s mission was to destroy the rebels military supplies.
The first shots of the Revolution rang out April 19 1775 at Lexington green. Reports say the British fired first killing eight patriots. I believe these reports to be true. There was a lot of controversy surrounding this, since none of us were there, no one can be certain on who fired first. Evidence shows the British fired first. I think based on the evidence provided it was very easy to see the British were the first to fire the shot of the revolution.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord started when a group of militiamen went out to stop British soldiers who were on their way seize guns that the colonists had stockpiled. Both sides were told not to fire unless fired upon. A shot was fired from someone in the crowd of militiamen and soldiers. Gunshots exploded from both sides. Once the first shot was fired it was chaos. Eight militiamen were killed and several wounded. No soldiers were killed and one was wounded. No one knows who fired the first
The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the start of the American Revolution. The battles were fought on April 19, 1775 when an armed militia of patriots in Lexington, called the Minutemen because they supposedly could assemble in a minute, awaited the British army who marched to Lexington to capture John Hancock and Samuel Adams, two revolutionary leaders. The British heavily outnumbered the colonists. The two sides were not yet fighting when a single gunshot was fired. To this day, no one knows which side fired the first shot, but the battles that day caused the beginning of military violence between Great Britain and the American Colonists.
The battle took place in Lexington, Massachusetts. It was April 19th,1775.We’re learning about The Shot heard around the World. It was the British vs The Colonist. I think the British fired first. The reason I think the British fired first is simple. The British did not want the Colonist to have their own country. That’s why I think the British fired first.
Who shot first? In my opinion, I think the colonists shot first. There are a few reason I think this. For one, I think the colonists shot first because the redcoats were already on the march to the colonists and that might’ve meant they were about to shoot first. Sylvanus Affidavit and Robert Douglass were on their way to Lexington. Upon their arrival, a messenger came up to Captain Parker to inform him that the Redcoats were within half a mile. I think the reason the redcoats were within a mile is because that they wanted to start war, or in other words, shoot the shot that was heard around the world. That is my take on the “Shot Heard Around the World”.
On April 19th, 1775 British troops were marching to Lexington where many militia were already awaiting their arrival. The British were after the ammunition of the militia. Paul Revere had warned the militia ahead of time so that they could be prepared. They removed their stockpiles of ammunition from their hiding places and moved them to a new shelter. When the British arrived at Lexington, the militia were lined up, ready to defend themselves. The British stopped, prepared to face the militia. They
The Boston Massacre is considered by many historians to be the first battle of the Revolutionary War. The fatal incident happened on March 5 of 1770. The massacre resulted in the death of five colonists. British troops in the Massachusetts Bay Colony were there to stop demonstrations against the Townshend Acts and keep order, but instead they provoked outrage. The British soldiers and citizens brawled in streets and fought in bars. “The citizens viewed the British soldiers as potential oppressors, competitors for jobs, and a treat to social mores'; (Mahin 1). A defiant anti-British fever was lingering among the townspeople.
Nevertheless, Susan family, in contrast, which is a traditional family, members include a father and a mother, and her biological son, Dylan. It is true that Dylan will have a better life than Kevin, ironically, he became a person who “could shoot someone” (Susan, par 1). According to his mother, “as a young child, Dylan made parenting easy” that means that Dylan has been a good guy. So a reason why made him change like this, “could shoot someone”. After this, looking back his background, he had parents who have enough good condition for caring their child carefully, he also had a good environmental growth, as well as full educated. In generally, Dylan would like other ones, acept these common things to develop his own ability, but he did not,
I would have another activity for the students to do to help solidify the concept in their minds. I would also include an activity that would have more learning styles in them. I believe I tried to push my students into a higher level of thinking before they had the basics on the concept down The advisement activity was great for all students because it has learn by seeing, hearing, and doing in the activity. As Mihut states, “Learning is active, innovative, creative and purposeful…” and if you can incorporate those into your lesson more students
