He tends to have the main characters in his films as children. It makes him effective to the young community because he can attract the young community’s eye. At the same time as he is attracting children, he also targets adults by showing parents. In Home Alone, the parents leave the boy. Also Chris Columbus did a very good job targeting the child and adult audiences with appropriate humor. It’s a film that both children and adults can relate to. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets , the main characters of the film are all children (Profile: Chris Columbus, 2001). However, Potter’s parents play a big role though you only see them in flashbacks. They are not there visually, but they are always being mentioned and talked about in some way. This is also a film that targets both audiences by having fun settings and scenes while still having deeper
First, Christopher columbus brought diseases to america took natives with him and brought new foods! Christopher Columbus brought plague . He took natives to Europe. He also brought livestock, fruit and diseases! Christopher columbus was not a great person, not just because he brought diseases but he did it on purpose!
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer who received credit for the discovery of the Americas in 1492. His goal was to discover another route to India instead, he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and arrived in Hispaniola which is present day Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Although, historians argue he did not technically discover the Americas, he opened trade routes between the Old World and the New World. He influenced later explorers and impacted the development of the Columbian Exchange. The historians present their attitudes towards the consequences and outcomes of Christopher Columbus and his discovery. They also state their argument on his controversial legacy about whether Christopher Columbus should be perceived as a hero or a villain.
Many times Christopher Columbus was celebrated. But was he truly a hero? Until recent times, no one knew what harm he did. Now he is criticized and people are torn between celebrating him or to forget about him. In “Columbus and the Indians” by Historian Howard Zinn, Zinn writes about Columbus’s expedition and his terrible treatment of the Native Americans. Nevertheless, “Why we should celebrate Columbus day” , by The Order of the Sons of Italy talks about all the wonderful accomplishments Columbus made. Howard Zinn notes all the harm Columbus did, while The Order of the Sons of Italy believes that Columbus was a hero for discovering America.
All throughout history, whether present or past, books are filled page to page with people we consider heroes, as well as villans. Some quick people that come to mind when thinking of the fall of their legacy lead me to people like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Andrew Jackson and Napoleon Bonaparte. No matter what the subject; whether it be considered history of a sport, US history or even some celebrities lives, there will always be the one who was a hero in the spotlight and then the real truth comes out. Herofication dates back to the times of the beginning of America where Christopher Columbus, the man who we celebrate on Columbus Day to the public eye today is seen in a positive light. Contrary to popular belief, Columbus wasn't the nicest
So some of you might not know but Christopher Columbus was really greaty. All he wanted was gold and treasures nothing else he did what he could just for treasures. Also he want to be governor of a state or country now that is a really greedy person.Another thing about Columbus he wanted 10% of the wealth they found on the trip. That means Spain gets most of it columbus got 10% that means the crew members wouldn't get a lot to support their family.Lastly he poison crew members because the took a little gold!!That is mean because they do all this stuff for him and then he stabs them in the back like that. This kind of stuff is just some of the ways how Christopher is not a hero.
First of all, Columbus used violence. He lacked respect for the indigenous people he encountered. He also forced the so called “Indians,” to be Christians. The third thing Christopher Columbus did, was spread diseases from one place, to another, from his different interactions.
I was taught that Columbus was a great hero for discovery America all through elementary and junior high every one of my history will tell the exactly same stories about him with little bit more details. I guess it never accord to me he can also have a bad side to him as well, and in history in High school you learn to take the whole picture, and then you make your decision. After reading Howard Zinn I know now that Columbus isn’t that great of a guy that we celebrate today. Everyone has bad past want to forgot, and the great Columbus Had one too.
In the year 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed the Atlantic hoping to land in Asia, but ended up in the New World. The world where he met Native Americans and called them Indians. Hoping to find spices, he found enough to trade between continents that ended up being called the Columbian Exchange. His rediscovery marked a new chapter in textbooks which many are still arguing whether it makes him a hero or villain. Christopher Columbus should be remembered as a villain because his encounter, with the intention of taking advantage of Native Americans, lead to many deaths.
Christopher Columbus’s four voyages took place between 1492 and 1504. During that time, Columbus witnessed many religious, geographical, and political changes.
Columbus going on his last trip was the best experience he could ever have. Why it’s the best it makes him think about all what he did to reach this point of time. At the end, he was successful at reaching a new land and he colonized America. Some what you could say that Columbus is a hero or a villain but most importantly if Columbus didn’t exist we could’ve never known that America exist till this day you could not deny that that Columbus is one of the people who help shape the world.
One would expect these immense accomplishments to go to a person’s head, but Columbus manages to be humble: “O I am sure they really come from Thee!/The urge, the ardor, the unconquerable will/The potent, felt, interior command, stronger than words/A message from the Heavens, whispering to me even in sleep/These sped me on” (insert citation). Columbus gives all of his credit to God, instead of believing that he simply was an incredible explorer.
As far back as the late 14th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find land that had greater resources; resources they had use to rebuild Europe. After Europeans had come, the Spaniards, the Scottish, the English, and many others colonized North American. In the process of colonizing, they completely ignored the thousands of tribe members who had lived there and have been living there for many generations. Christopher Columbus, who was the first European to step foot in North American, used these kind beings as slaves. Those who did not were slaughtered, enslaved, and raped. These men and women believed they were a part of Earth and never once abused its lands and its animals. They never believed in one specific religion, while the Europeans were beginning to form a nation full of educated Christians. The Europeans tried to convert these spiritual beings and failed. This irked the government officials and what happened was hundreds of years of mass killings of the Cherokee, the Pequot, the Cheyenne, the Narragansett, as well as hundreds of other Native American tribes. There were treaties made but because the Native Americans were uneducated, they never understood them. Dee Brown argues that the Native Americans were deceived by the Europeans time and time again, and since the Native Americans needed resources; they had to agree to their rules and regulations.
The story of Christopher Columbus begins in the city of Genoa in the year 1451. Columbus was the oldest of five children. He went to grammar school but left school at an early age and began sailing on Genoese ships in the Mediterranean. The sailing experience that Columbus gained
Whether viewed as a monster who destroyed ancient civilizations or a legendary figure who led society to where it is today, Christopher Columbus remains a greatly controversial historical center point as his impact on civilization then, and now, have sparked ongoing debates for centuries. But despite the greatly exaggerated slander against him, Columbus should be revered and celebrated as a hero for his contributions to societal development instead of hated for the blatant lies created by mainstream media in an effort to demonize an iconic historical figure in an attempt to push anti-western sentiment.
As I grew older, I learned a little bit more about Columbus’s trips to the Americas. I was told that Christopher Columbus wasn’t as nice of a person as I was taught when I was younger. I learned that Columbus’ heart was set on acquiring as much gold from the natives as possible. He turned them into slaves and brought diseases with him—from which whole tribes died off.
