Who Is George Washington A Good Leader In Animal Farm

If you have ever been in a room with a person that is supposed to be a leader, but doesn’t even know what that is, then you will relate to this. The pigs are like this because they don’t know what it means to be a good leader, and mess everything up. Unlike the pigs in Animal Farm, George Washington embodies the characteristics of a strong leader because he shows the traits of being honest, being passionate, and not being power hungry.
George Washington was a man that was not power hungry unlike the pigs, who were very power hungry. As Snowball finished his speech, the animals heard a disturbance outside the barn when, “They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws.” (Orwell 33). Although, it is bad to know that a leader can not show great honesty, sadly the pigs always did. While everyone was nervous about boxer, Squealer had an announcement to make, “Our great comrade boxer died in the hospital, I was with him in his last hours”(Orwell 64). Squealer was never with Boxer, because boxer was sold to a horse slaughter. The pigs can be described from this as dishonest and also the money used from boxer’s death was used by them to buy themselves whisky. With all of the success that George Washington had in his life, he could have done anything when, “As had happened after most upheavals, he could have used his success to make himself a dictator or even a king” (George). Even though Washington had the chance to become more powerful, he stood true to his word and was honest about making a country run by the people not one person.
