In the novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding Ralph would be the best choice for the little’uns to follow. In the world, we live in its important to have parts of leadership to keep everything civilized and in order. In Lord of the Flies, a group of boys are trapped on an island. The boys decided to have a vote to see who would be the best fit to be a leader to help maintain the civilization on the island and to help them stay alive. At the beginning of the novel, it is clear the two boys who are considered to be leaders are Ralph and Jack. Ralph also won the majority of the votes and is a leader. In my opinion, a good leader is someone who has experience in leadership, has their priorities straight and also cares about people has a big
In the Lord of the Flies, the boys are challenged when their plane crashes and they have to survive on a deserted island. To survive the boy’s find it necessary to establish a leader in the beginning. The boys face many of challenges throughout the whole book because of their lack of respect for their leader. Ralph, the stories leader, struggles to lead because of Jack, who opposes Ralph’s view of what needs to be in order to survive. Jack in turn, reverts to savagery and only wants to hunt and have fun. Whether the leader is good or evil, he or she needs to be assertive, be able to take action, and think about the “long-term”.
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, I would have followed Ralph because he’s the best person to be the leader. Ralph is the best person to be leader because he isn’t just thinking about himself, he’s also doing all he can to keep everyone on the island safe as possible. While Jack is worried about killing a pig for food to eat, Ralph could care less about eating, he would rather get everyone off the deserted island by making a fire as a signal for help. Ralph has the best leadership skills. He shows these skills many times throughout the novel, and these qualities are what made me want to follow him. He showed his true leadership ability through his determination, intellect, and generosity.
Many people consider themselves a good leader, but that is not always the case. In the book, Lord of the Flies, there are two types of “leaders”. Throughout the story, there is a clash between the two types of leaders. Ralph, the original leader, is overthrown by Jack, a savage tyrant. If Ralph was a better leader, Jack may not have taken over. Some traits of a good leader that Ralph lacks are optimism, confidence, and awareness. Ralph would have been a better leader by keeping the boys busy and focused, being open to new ideas, and enforcing his rules.
A leader is someone who has determination. They are willing to do anything to benefit other people in order to help lead them to greatness. When I think of a leader, the people that come to my mind are those who have helped change the world. This includes George Washington, or Martin Luther King. Jr. I definitely do not think about Ralph from Lord of the Flies when I think of a leader. Some people may argue that Ralph kept the group together and knew what was best for the young boys. However, I am aware that Ralph had good ideas. For instance, the signal fire which, in the end, helped the boys get rescued was a good idea. Despite this, Ralph did not do an altogether good job at holding the group together. By the end of the novel, one boy went missing, two of his friends were murdered, and Jack's tribe had almost accomplished their goal of hunting Ralph down and placing his head on a stick.
Throughout the story The Lord of the Flies, Ralph has proven repeatedly and consistently that he is the greatest leader in the novel. Ralph was originally elected as a leader near the beginning of the story and even though he was titled “chief” he still let the other boys have a say and valued their opinions as a fair leader. He acts with the sake of the other boys in mind, and is viewed as a superb leader by other boys, too. Ralph is the obvious choice when it comes to deciding on the best leader. Ralph was voted into the position as chief through a democratic process, and he values what other people have to say.
In the book lord of the flies written by William Golding, there is a big conflict between Jack and Ralph on who should be the true leader. On one hand, Ralph is one of the most civilized boys in the island than anyone else, he symbolizes the mean of democratic rule throughout the novel, although he is not the smartest, he demonstrates order and peace for the folks, and gives the boys a slight degree of hope to being rescued. On the other hand, Jack is a violence and bloody character, his natural savage emerged out gradually as time goes on. His characteristics symbolize anarchy, and his obsession on killing makes him the most cruel figure. Although all these seem to make him the worst character he can possibly be, he still shows the folks a sense of order and leadership, so who do you think is a better leader? In my opinion, Ralph is a better leader than Jack.
In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, there is a group of young boys trapped on an island. When you have a civilization like this, you need to have a leader. Both Ralph and Jack believe they are worthy of being the leaders. The boys are both different and alike in many ways, but what qualities do they have that make them worthy? In Lord of the Flies, Jack is what some would call the self-appointed leader.
A leader is someone who directs or guides a group. However, good leadership is the ability to set priorities and accomplish what needs to be done with the feelings of the group in mind. In Lord of the Flies, Ralph demonstrates many traits that would be considered good leadership. At times he also lacks them, and if he had demonstrated them he could have helped the situation greatly. Ralph understands how people feel and has the ability to respect that and make decisions based off of people’s feelings. He also has the ability to be very serious, which is a good leadership trait if you want to accomplish something. Ralph was also very wise and always made the decisions that he thought were best for the group. In addition, Ralph is
What makes up a leader? In the book Lord of the Flies, whose author is William Golding, this question wasn’t well thought through before a leader was chosen. Though the main characters are only little kids, they had a challenging choice they had to make; they had not the slightest idea that the choice that they would make might amount to some of them losing their lives. In the Lord of the Flies, a group of boys from an all-boys school, crash-landed on an inhabited island. Upon arriving on the island, they had to choose who would be chief. Mostly everybody chose the same kid as a chief. Though, only a handful of boys, the choir boys were loyal to their choir leader, Jack, voted him as chief. Yet the result was the same, Ralph was chief. The reason behind why the kids nominated Ralph chief was because he looked more appealing than jack and he seemed to know what to do. Like for instance, the kids were bewildered when they saw that Ralph had the conch in his hands and that he was not the “man with a trumpet.” Then they realized that Ralph was “the man with the trumpet” and perceived that he would make a fine leader. I say overall: his honesty, his ability to
A good leader is someone who cares about everyone. They are loyal, and listens to everyone’s ideas. They are smart, strong, and can make tough decisions. A good leader could fight, but a better leader can choose not to. In the Lord of the Flies, a novel by William Golding, is about a boy named Ralph who wanted to get rescued and made leadership choices based on that, but another boy named Jack who prevented rescue by splitting the group up and turning survival into a game. Ralph and Jack were meant to be in the same novel because Golding wanted to show how the wrong leadership can go wrong, and on what leader you follow can be an effect on how you survive.
2 leaders; 1 noble, 1 malevolent. Annie Walgren P.1 Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a dystopian novel written in 1954. Since the book release a large amount of books have been sold and two movies have been made. After reading Lord of the Flies the reader can understand that anyone can be greedy, deceiving or even murderous but still be a good leader.
Lord of the Flies Essay There is always a leader to lead you in the right direction, but that is up to you and who you think is a good leader as in this book. Commanders show people the right direction and prove themselves as good role models. In William Golding’s dystopian novel Lord of the Flies a group of boys try to survive without getting killed from the mystics of the island after a deadly crash during wartime. On an island with no adults and no image of civilization a group of children try to pursue their way through the use of resources on the island.
A good leader needs to have a specific set of character traits and values that will work towards the betterment of the people he is leading. The most important of these are the ability to speak easily in front of a large audience, the ability to unite a seemingly divided people if need be, the ability to discern what decisions are the best for the people, and the ability to make the right decision even it is not the popular one. Of the two main leaders in “Lord of the Flies,” Ralph and Jack, Ralph seems to possess more of these attributes, therefore making him a better leader. Applying these attributes to real life politics, the best candidate to lead a people would have to be, I’m almost sad to say, Donald Trump.
