“Justice cannot be for one side alone, but must be for both” (Roosevelt) Forbidden love, suspense, and death are revealed in the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet. The marriage of Romeo and Juliet was planned to be the outcome, but certain people lead that to tragedy. Friar Laurence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is responsible for the tragic, but avoidable, death of Romeo and Juliet. He went behind the two feuding families backs and developed a plan that killed the two lovers. To enact the plan, Friar Laurence willingly gave Juliet a vial of poison that helped her fake her death,“ Take thou this vial, being then in bed,/and this distilled liquor drink thou off” (IV.I. 93) and when she would awake from her slumber Romeo was supposed to be at her side, “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift” (IV.I. 114) but Friar Laurence didn’t get the message to Romeo in time. …show more content…

This is another reason that Friar Lawrence is to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet. If Friar Lawrence did not give Juliet the potion in the first place and just told her to marry Paris and be happy with him, then the whole mess would of not started in the first place. “Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself, Then is it likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to chide away this shame, That copest with death himself to scape from it: And, if thou darest, I'll give thee remedy.” (IV.I.34-41) This is the scene where Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion to fake her death and nobody would have died and everyone would just be
