Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers defying their families’ ancient grudge to be with each other, even if that means in death. The question is who is to blame? Romeo, even in death should be held responsible. If it weren’t for his series of misguided actions the outcome would have been very different. The situations he created for himself showed his fickle nature, impulsive behavior and impatient demeanor towards everything that occurred.

The people or things deserving the most blame are the Capulet and Montague feud, Lady and Lord Capulet, and Romeo and Juliet. The feud caused the prince to issue a warning telling if the Capulets and Montagues were ever seen fighting again, death would occur. This in the end caused the death of Tybalt and Mercutio. Juliet has forsaken her love to Romeo, and decides that her marriage will be done with only one person, which is Romeo. The Friar promises Juliet that he will reunite them and they can live happily by telling Juliet “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift, and hither shall hem come; and he and I shall watch thy waking, and that very night shall Romeo bear thee to Mantua” (4.1.114-117). The Friar begins to tell Juliet that his plan is foolproof, and it will help them escape safely into Mantua where they can live happily ever after. As the play continues on into act 5, Friar Laurence begins to send out his letter to Romeo. However, Friar John comes back to Verona and tells Friar Laurence “I could not send it—here it is again, nor get a messenger to bring it thee” (5.2.14-16). Parents today, are an important to influence on their children. It’s their job to teach them from right to wrong. Unfortunately, suicide is still very much apart of our society today, especially among teens. When a young person commits suicide one of the first things to happen is that we try to assign blame to one person or one reason.

How dumb can a person possibly be? That's a very good question which happens to be answered in Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the story of Romeo and Juliet there are many questionable events that take place due to poor decision making. Even though everyone makes mistakes, there is someone who is responsible for everything bad that happened in the story. That person is Romeo because he started the downward spiral of unfortunate events. From him falling in love with the enemy, to killing the man from the family that hates despises you. This person also happened to be Juliet's sister. These reasons will be more thoroughly examined and fleshed out over the course of this essay.
