Who did it Who and what killed Romeo? Come on, someone had to have been responsible for it. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, the main characters are Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, The Capulets, Mercutio and Paris. Romeo falls in love with Juliet, who is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague, Montague’s and Capulet are enemies and they are feuding. Romeo and Juliet’s relationship is forbidden but happens anyways. Paris is in love with Juliet as well as Romeo, and in the end everyone just winds up dying. There are multiple people that are to blame for the death of Romeo. To begin with, Friar Lawrence was the main culprit in the death of Romeo. Friar Lawrence said it and he is speaking to Juliet. Juliet is trying to get out of being with Paris because she is already with Romeo. “Take thou this vial, being then in bed,/ And this distilling liquor drink thou off”/ (5.1.93-94) Friar is suggesting to Juliet that she take a potion to make her fall asleep. Taking this potion doesn’t end well because it causes a frenzy of bad events. Paris goes to the Capulet tomb to see Tybalt and he sees that Juliet is in there. A messenger man is who is saying it and he is speaking with Romeo. The messenger man is trying to let Romeo know that they think Juliet is dead. “Her body sleeps in Capel’s monument,/And her immortal part with angels lives.”/ Act (5.1.18-19) Friar was trying to have a letter about him and Juliet’s plan delivered to Romeo. The letter was not delivered to Romeo on time so Romeo thought that Juliet had died and he got very upset. Romeo then went to the Capel’s Monument to see if Juliet was there and little did he know that Paris would be in there. After fighting with Paris, Romeo drank the potion and died. Ultimately, Friar Lawrence’s mistakes could have been avoided had he not let Romeo and Juliet get
The first character who is at the most blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death is Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence made the feud worse by marrying Romeo and Juliet, not to mention he broke the rules doing it. Friar says “ so smile the heavens upon this holy act….These violent delights have violent ends, And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume....” (DBQ:Who’s to Blame, Document C). Friar Lawrence hopes that if he marries Romeo and Juliet, the feud would be over and they could live in peace. Friar Lawrence causes more problems, than if he would have just told them no.
the friar is saying that he wrote to Romeo but his letter was never sent. He had planned on Romeo receiving the letter and hadn’t thought of a backup plan. He had decided that after he went to get Juliet,he would write to Romeo again. Because he hadn’t been able to send the letter to Romeo, Romeo killed himself in the tomb with Juliet.
This conveys that Friar came up with a rushed plan and told Juliet to go home and agree to marry Paris, then take the vial while alone, even though he knew something could go wrong. This piece of evidence helps to support the claim that Friar Lawrence was responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Another reason why Friar Lawrence was at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet is because of how he left Juliet alone in the tomb after she discovered Romeo was dead, even though he knew of Juliet's past threats to harm herself. Page 231, Act 5. Sc. 3.
In this quote, Friar Lawrence is instructing Juliet to take the vial filled with the unknown potion. He is explaining what the potion will do to Juliet and how it will benefit her. Juliet is hesitant at first, but soon agrees to take the potion.
Romeo and Juliet is a very tragic story of two young teens who fall in love, but in the end, they die because their love is forbidden. Many people ask, “Who is to blame for their deaths?” Many people caused problems that just caused even more problems. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet’s unfortunate deaths could have been prevented if it weren't for a few people. The people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are the families at the start of the feud, Lord Capulet’s servant, and Tybalt.
Romeo and Juliet is a great tragedy caused by the actions of Friar Lawrence. The Friar did many things while looking out for his good, and not the good of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence should not have married Romeo and Juliet in the first place. He shouldn’t have given Juliet the sleeping potion and if he didn't rely on someone else to give a letter of great importance to Romeo, Romeo and Juliet would not have committed suicide. All of these unforgivable mistakes that the Friar committed lead to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. If he could have thought his actions through this plan could have worked out better. Friar Lawrence is fully to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death.
When Friar Lawrence hears the watch he abandons Juliet and leaves her to kill herself. The friar yells to Juliet “ Come go, good Juliet. I dare no longer stay,”
Friar Lawrence is the reason why Romeo and Juliet died. “Take thou this vial, being in bed and this distilled liquor drink thou off.” This quote shows that Friar Lawrence gives Juliet the potion to kill herself. Friar Lawrence gave Juliet the potion to kill herself. When Romeo saw Juliet faking her death he assumed that she was dead so he killed himself.
The potion was able to have Juliet fake her death for forty-two hours and place her into a catatonic state. Juliet took this potion so she could get away with not having to marry Paris. According to act 4 scene 4 and 5, the nurse was the one to find Juliet deceased in her bed and is the one to tell Juliet's parents. When Romeo caught the wind with this tragedy he discovered that he couldn’t live his life without Juliet so he ended up killing himself. Friar Lawrence was to blame for this because the potion wasn’t necessary, Juliet could have stuck up for herself and decide that she didn’t want to marry Paris now. This is the second reason why Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and
A quote to show this is, “And this distilled liquor drink thou off. When through all thy veins shall run, A cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse, Shall keep his native progress, but surcease. No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest. The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade, To paly ashes; thy eyes' windows fall, Like death when he shuts up the day of life.” (4.1. 94-101) This quote is describing how the potion will affect Juliet and how she will look. This shows why friar Lawrence is the main reason for the tragic death of the two main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet, because he makes sure that Juliet gets the potion but he doesn't make sure that the plan has the main part done. He didn’t make sure that Romeo got the letter with the plan. Not having this done, ruined the whole plan and killed both the main characters. Not having the letter with the plan made Romeo kill himself because of the false accusation that was created, that Juliet was dead. This made Romeo kill himself because he saw no point to life without Juliet. Also, when Juliet saw Romeo she killed herself because she saw no point to life with Romeo either. This is shown when Friar John said, “ I could not send it - here it is again,-” This is Friar Lawrence’s fault because he didn’t make sure that the letter got there and didn’t find out how far the letter got. He
Romeo and Juliet were two young people from feuding families, who fell in love. Their love was so strong, that they ended up dying for each other. The ironic twist at the end of the story surprised many who had read it. But who is to blame for this tragedy? Many characters in this play could be to blame. We believe that some of the characters to blame are Capulet, Friar Lawrence, plus Romeo and Juliet themselves.
Juliet wakes then kills herself. The Capulets and Paris plan a wedding for Juliet and Paris. She seeks help from Friar Laurence and he helps her fake Juliet's death. Friar writes a letter, but it doesn’t get to Romeo. When Romeo sees Juliet he kills himself with poisson.
The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a book of fate and how everyone in the world affects the happenings of this world. The author of this extraordinary book is William Shakespeare. Although Romeo and Juliet killed themselves, there were many people responsible for their deaths. It is arguable that the parents of the two lovers, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet themselves were the most responsible, some could say that the other main characters like Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, the Nurse, and Paris were involved as well. There were many people responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, although they took their own lives, they were not all to blame.
In the play Romeo and Juliet there are lots of events that lead to the death of the two main characters. There are many people responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet and some of these characters are Tybalt, Capulet and Friar Lawrence.
Friar Laurence makes not only one, but three mistakes that will eventually lead up to Romeo and Juliet’s death. The Friar’s first mistake was giving Juliet, an unstable fourteen year old, a powerful potion that would make her look dead, so she would not have to marry Paris. Friar Laurence actually shows his irresponsibility by saying, “Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself…take thou this vial…no warmth, no breath shall testify the livest”( Act 4.1.). Had Friar Laurence not given Juliet the poison, she never would have been put in the position that she was in, which lead to her death.
