Who is Jack the Ripper? The question has been asked for hundreds of years all around the world. The first Jack the Ripper murder happened on April 3rd 1888. Jack the Ripper would prey on local prostitutes in the London, within the district of Whitechapel. Whitechapel was known as the “bad” part of London because it housed prostitutes, criminals, and other unwanted scum from around the city. Just an example of how bad and criminally active the district of Whitechapel was like, some people would compare it to modern day Compton or South Central Los Angeles. Just like Compton most everyone living in the Whitechapel district were of a low social class and hated outsiders. Jack the Ripper’s first victim was Miss Marry Ann Nichols, once the police found her body they were in disbelief because this was the first murder of its kind in London. The second victim was Miss Annie Chapman, she was found dead on September 8th 1888 after the corner investigated they discovered that Jack the Ripper had removed her Uterus. The third and fourth victims Miss Elizabeth Stride and Miss Catherine Eddowes were both killed on the same day on September 30th 1888. The last confirmed victim was Miss Mary Jane Kelley her mutilated body was found on November 9th 1888. Miss Kelley’s body was mutilated the worst out of any of the prostitutes; what is so crazy about his final fill was that most of her organs were removed including her heart. Now that question is asked again, who is Jack the Ripper? After the police started to investigate they started rounding up the “top” criminals in London but had no success due to the fact there was really no evidence. Due to the fact he was never caught there is some big controversy over who the killer might be. The suspects ranged from the scum of London to even a member of the Royal family. The main suspects in the Jack the Ripper case was Montague John Druitt, George Chapman, Lewis Carroll, and even Prince Albert Victor who was the Duke of Clarence.
