When war began in 1775, it seemed clear that Britain would win. It had a large, well-organized land army, and the Royal Navy was unmatched on the sea. The Revolutionary War is a big thing and has significant potential. North American had bigger reasons to fight for their independence. North America had an advantage for being the home field because the British had to come overseas to fight us and they had to bring all their supply with them. The Patriots wanted to defend their homeland including their families and their property. In addition, the patriots were more prepared for the war. War was unpopular in England-wasn’t at risk, recently involved in a war with France. England was overseas and it took longer to ship supplies over England had
The American Revolutionary war began in-part because of economic struggles England faced after securing safety for it’s colonies during the Seven Years War. England needed to increase their taxation on the colonists after the war to pay off its war debts. Prior to these taxes, the colonies were wholly content while under the wing of the British Empire. Not only because the protection the British provided, but also because of their deep reverence for the Motherland. Colonists were angered by with Parliament due to their lack of acknowledgement towards colonists rights and opinions. Colonists stood together in a defiant motion towards liberation from England’s tyrannous acts of lawless duplicity. Before British government was able to fully
The American Revolutionary War was caused by the political disagreements between Great Britain and the American colonies. Most of the Americans initially didn’t want to completely separate from England but wanted to regain the rights that Parliament had taken away from them. England made war unavoidable with its unwillingness to negotiate, heavy taxation of the colonists that violated their rights, and strict trading policies.
The American Revolution was about different conflicts. The conflict arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government. The colonists wanted independence from Great Britain because the king created unreasonable taxes. After that the colonists decided to rebel against this. There were several battles that change the outcome of the American Revolution. For example, the Battle of Trenton changes the course of the war because the Americans won. The Battle of Trenton was the most important battle because Hessian army was crushed in Washington's raid and it made people more confident in the country.
After listening to the Growing Conflict with Britain lectures and reading the textbook I learned, it is more accurate to the British lost the Revolutionary War because they lost more than what the Americans won. Not only did the British have to deal with fighting with the colonies, they were enemies of many other nations as well. The Dutch and Spain soon declared war on England, (Revolutionary War-Major Battles, Slide 29). England struggled with protecting itself in Europe as well as other colonies fighting back. As a result of the distractions caused by other nations wanting to see British lose, Americans won and finally got France on their side.
During the American Revolution, The British and the American colonists had many difficulties and challenges to overcome. Both sides had great disadvantages and advantages, but the in the end the colonists had the most advantages and won their independence from the British. Some of the most important reasons the colonists won was that they were fighting on their own continent and knew the land better than the British, they received help from other European countries such as France and they had a well-experienced General; George Washington.
War never truly has one person or side at fault; each front brings something to the table. Nevertheless, the American Revolution is a conflict that raises major debate over who to blame. The American colonies were at a standstill. How could a new nation grow with such a controlling mother country always on its back? As a result of the French Indian War, the British had to pay for their colonies war debts. For England to pay for these debts, Parliament imposed multiple harsh taxes and acts on colonists. Millions of British pounds used to fund the war were expected to be returned to Great Britain. Why does a British colony have to pay England for a war that the British were fighting in the first place? After some consideration, the
Although the Revolutionary War was based on the premise of liberty and equality for suppressed American colonists, it was mainly influenced and fueled by geopolitical, economic, and political interests of European nations. After the French and Indian War Britain had the largest number of foreign colonies on the freshly discovered continent of North America. The amount of land claimed however was not as significant as the value that a territory brought back to the mother country. Mercantilistic policies demanding control of vital areas, as well as nationalistic rivalries between nations had already given way to several world wars between the dueling powers of Europe. Colonies in distant lands such as America were merely marionettes
Here in 1763, life is very messy, compared to the 21st century, for example, Therefore, England had a lot of colonists in America but they wanted more, so they took more land from Native Americans even had war with them, it caused some people became homeless. Second, French also had colonists in America, and they make friends with them, French through traded fur to get money and didn’t consider the results, sometimes they may had war with native Americans about the money. Third, other countries like Spain, also came to America and claimed territory so it must had some problems which will cause the war. This is why I think the situation here in the Iroquois confederation is messy. There are too many people want to get more benefits.
The British are coming! The British are coming! Yes, we have all heard the stories of the terrible deeds committed by the Red Coats, but what if that is not what really happened? After all, history is written by the victor. Numerous battles were fought in the Revolutionary War. While most had a clear start and a definite end, it has never been decided who started the Battles of Lexington and Concord. Though after reading the eyewitness accounts, it is truly simple to understand. The blame lays at the feet of the Colonial Militia, because they incited the battles and continued to attack, even as their enemy retreated.
In regards to key developmental aspects of human growth in my life and as I integrate Erickson’s eight stages of development into my 48 years of life, I found that many of my transitional tasks were delayed, or not developed according to Erickson’s time frame. This might be due to the dysfunctional lifestyle, neglected childhood and promiscuous teenage years I had and it has taken me many years to develop my sense of identity, my sense of intimacy, and to change my behavior (Feldman, 2011). In the argument of Piaget he says that children at the age of three to five years think abstractly and this affects their motor
The American Revolution taking place first in 1765, was mainly because there was a want for a free and open government. After the battles of Lexington and Concord they colonies were debating whether fighting for independence or reconciliation was the best way to protect their liberties as colonies. If and when people decided that independence was the best option, they were still hesitant about openly seeking this freedom. Though Congress was sending out declarations that the colonies were loyal to King George, they were also preparing for war with the British, which was much of a contradiction. The British also prepared for war and even recruited slaves to fight for them. Many
The irregular and disorganized British rule of the American colonies in the previous years led to the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. Most Americans did not originally want to separate from mother England. They wanted to stay loyal to the crown. England’s unwillingness to compromise, mismanagement of the colonies, heavy taxation of the colonists that violated their rights, the distractions of foreign affairs and politics in England and the strict trading policies that England tried to enforce together made the revolution inevitable. The British were definitely expected to win the dispute because they significantly over powered the Colonists in most areas. They had more money, weapons, people, etc. However the American’s prevailed with
The Revolutionary War allowed America to finally get its independence from Great Britain. “The parliament refused to give the colonist representatives in the government”(History.com). As a result of this America finally declared independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. Americas plan was to separate from Great Britain to become its own country. The war was truly gruesome as some stated “give me liberty or give me death” they were ready to die for their cause. The war lasted a total of 8 years from April 19, 1775 to September 3, 1783. The Revolutionary War was very gruesome, but it played a necessary role in the independence of America.
Many factors contributed to the British losing the American Revolutionary War. By the 1770’s the American colonists were not socially, religiously, or culturally connected to Britain. The colonists has their own ways of life and thus were not British by culture. The majority of the colonists had immigrated to America to escape the rigid class structures of Britain and Europe.
The American Revolution was a war for independence. It was a war which was fought for equal rights and the freedom of a would be nation. It showed the pure courage and heart of the American colonists by pitting them against a much more powerful opponent. The British had the best army in the world, and the colonists were often just poor farmers armed with their hunting muskets. It was truly a case of David versus Goliath. The reasons, course, and outcome of the American Revolution provided the perfect scenario for achieving independence.
