. Why are trade-offs among life history traits so commonly observed? Life history traits are an organism’s age of maturity, parity, fecundity, and longevity. An organism might live in an environment where the availability of water is low, then an organism has to lose some characters (such as some energy allocate to growth) to give to gain another character (such as the ability to retain water in its body) in order to survive during its’ lifetime. Trade-offs among life history traits are commonly observed because the tradeoff character that are dominant pass down to their offspring and it is commonly observed so they can be adapted at the conditions they are living in. 2. Why would organisms with low annual survival rates begin to reproduce at an early age? Organisms with low annual survival rates begin to reproduce at an early age because they could be outgrown by larger competitors due to their short lifespan. Therefore in order to disperse their seeds/progeny to other locations they must reproduce quickly. Another reason is to some small organisms must mature and reproduce early because it is advantageous to having some of progeny survive before an organism die. Benefit of increase in fecundity at that age and costs may be reduced survival and fecundity at older ages. In addition, at an earlier age, an organism can result in having more number of offspring over their lifetime which is favored by Natural selection. 3. Explain why organisms face a fundamental trade-off
