The Internets filled with dangerous information, that children should never have the freedom to get access to. Children are more vulnerable to the effects of ideas, imaging, and videos. parents should also take the matter into their own hands when it comes to censoring what their child's view. Although some would say censorship violates their basic rights to free speech and their freedom, censorship helps protect children from exposure to graphic content, but parents must also do their part in this issue.
Censorship is needed considering parents are not always there to filter and explain what is being seen or heard. Parents are either busy or not home due to their work hours, therefore children are most likely to stumble upon inappropriate material, or parents are not there to explain what is seen on tv. The article "what children need is censorship" states "This is the first time in our history that children have had the greatest preponderance of ideas, opinions, values and- most importantly- images delivered as a take away directly to their eyes and ears, without the knowledge and mediation of their parents" (Sigman). This shows how technology has changed the way we convey and changed the way we access information. Children would now be able to get information not

Parents must exam the content shown on television for instance, new channels, websites and browsers to ensure their kids are getting the right information and ideas. Aric Sigman author of "what children need is censorship" states "If you really want to protect your children, you have to do what parents have always done: to mediate and filter what they see and hear within reason." That implies online Pc's ought to be within parent’s eyesight and earshot and not in a child's bedroom. some people would refer that as real-time censorship, it’s the most effective thing ever
In addition, “protecting” children from the difficulties of the world through censorship isn’t teaching them anything. They are just becoming more narrow-minded, shallow, and even less human. The information in books does not injure young people, they just open up their minds to new things and new ways. Such as in Fahrenheit 451, the people were not protected by censorship, but in the end they were hurt by it. I think that it is up to the parents to educate their children that just because they say it in a book, does not mean he or she should do or feel the same. Think about this, if we got rid of everything people object to, there would be nothing left in the world. Also with censorship, children are not being exposed to the “real world,”
John Pilger said ‘’ the censorship is such on television in the u.s that films like mine don’t stand a chance’’. Censorship in the news helps, but leaves out details that are important. News articles can relate being blacked out on certain words and important facts.’’ the goal of socialism is communism’’ { Lenin} Censorship in phones is one problem because the government can listen to our phone calls and see our text messages. One, people don’t want anyone but the person they're talking listen to their calls or reading their texts. Censorship in games is about parents not wanting children to play games with violence because they think it can corrupt their minds and they might act it out in real life. Video games are bad for you just like rock n roll [Miyamoto]Censorship in internet is about the government trying to hide things from kids. When the government did that ,they mess up important charity sites and bank sites. Censorship helps us by keeping us safe censorship can stop war from happening. Kids can not be show dirty pic and videos with censorship. Censorship can let government get your name and information. In conclusion, censorship is unnecessary because it hides the truth from parents and
Censorship is the act of filtering what an audience of something hears and sees. This is an effective method for mothers to protect their children from being exposed to things they do not fully understand, however it can be harmful once it is put into the hands of the government, because it crosses some moral and ethical lines. It violates the people’s right to freedom of expression. It would also make it much simpler to hide information from the people or to give them false information in the form of propaganda. Therefore, censorship is both positive and negative and its power should be left in the hands of parents rather than the government.
There is a six year old who desires to read Fifty Shades of Grey, they pray to God above for parental access; no avail do they receive such permissions, and therefore spared no pity in any superstitious form. Later on, however, they snag the copy from auntie Jean; the child reiterates every two passages, and illustrates each scenario with care. Here is where censorship is required. Novels, similar to Fifty Shades of Grey, should publish censored copies exclusive to fifteen to seventeen. Or when little Ruthberg browses the Internet, and explores for websites papa Joel stares at for hours on end. The producers of said websites should firsthand censor their media, just in case little minds tediously hack onto an easily accessible desktop, and eventually stumbles upon what big daddy Joel has been searching. Needless to say: censorship is doubled as a benefit and an annoyance.
Censorship keeps individuals from learning. Prabhakar Pillai, author of, “ Pros and Cons of Censorship “ remarks, “ children are prevented from learning things that
Censorship has been around for millions of years. Although censorship is still practised in some countries today, almost anyone would agree that censorship is never the right answer; as we have seen in the past, it has seldomly ever works out. Which is why it is so concerning that schools are starting to allow censorship in classrooms. As a result of this, the world is seeing an alarming amount of young millennials who are fresh into the workforce, expecting to always be catered to. More and more millennials are not being properly prepared for the real world due to censorship in schools; schools have been giving in and catering to students by allowing the censoring of books and microaggressions in the classroom, as a result the students are being taught that the world will cater to everyone, which is very inaccurate.
All children are born with innocence; they have no knowledge of anything bad in the world. Some television programmers seem to oblivious to this fact. The morbid content shown on popular television shows and movies today is incriminating evidence of this. It is as if the concept of censorship is foreign to them. The legal definition of censorship is the act of banning any or all media resulting from the presumption that its content is perceived to be immoral by the Federal Government of the United States. Censorship involves the banning of any immoral content. Much of broadcasted media
If one parent censors a book, because they do not want their child to read it, every kid looses the opportunity to read it. Some parents want to censor too much for their kids. What these parents do not realize is that it makes the child un prepared. If you give someone rose colored glasses to shield them from all the red flags of the world, all the red flags just end up looking like flags. Censorship hurts a child. The American Association of School Administrators states “Censorship is defined as the removal, suppression, or restricted circulation of literary, artistic, or educational material”. Since when does that sound like a good decision. Censorship can only further destroy our fragile society.
Lastly, there are those parents and republicans who are for censorship and say that censorship should stay. Some of their reasoning are that it protects the children from racial themes, strong language, and violence. It could also lead to children misbehaving and being raised the wrong way. Nevertheless, books are books and children will eventually learn how the world really is. That’s is why if censorship continues, it’ll hold back a child’s learning
One area of thought regarding censorship suggests that it serves an important part in the upbringing and developing morality parents have planned for their children. This is a largely popular perspective because censorship gives parents
Censorship might keep our youth population innocent at first but it does not allow a complete knowledge to be learned. Sometimes hiding things from them can leave them curious to find out. Most likely they end up finding certain information and not understanding it completely. Likewise, they later make a claim or statement that isn’t supported and could end up getting them in trouble. Students always end up not knowing as much and allows them to make unreasonable claims. They don’t always end up getting a full understanding of things and end up jumping to conclusions because of this. “The American Library Association opposes censorship and urges you to do so, too” (Censorship in Schools).
Children’s innocence must be protected by censorship. The debate on whether censorship is beneficial to society often compiles to a few main reasons. Subjects like freedom of speech, women’s rights, and children’s innocence is brought into question when discussing censorship. It is an important debate because what is censored influences societal beliefs of what is right and wrong. It decides what truths are revealed publicly. Some people think censorship is beneficial because it supposedly protects children, but it is actually useless because it underestimates children’s tolerance, witholds information, oversexualizes women, and sugarcoats the truth.
Children can easily access this information on the Internet in a matter of seconds. This is the primary reason why many government officials think that there should be censorship in the Internet. Crimes committed in other countries can also be spotted on the Internet, which can scar children for life. In addition, cable television used to be censored. This was facilitated by the concept that it was privately owned and people could subscribe to it as they wanted. That concept is still in place today, however, laws have been passed that require censors on inappropriate content (Ruschmann). Censors are put in place because people did not want to have to be subjected to obscenities while watching television. Furthermore, Internet censorship applies mostly to children more than anyone. The V-Chip is a technology that is widely used today. The V-Chip is a device that displays ratings and age suggestions for television shows (V-chip raises free). Many people favor the V-Chip because it displays a rating that the shows have received based on content (V-chip raises free). Television networks find this technology to be a great imposition to them. Censorship would eliminate this burden because the parts of the shows that are rated inappropriate would be censored. Violent shows on television also attract many viewers because of the advertising. Children are attracted to the commercials and do not always know what they are about to tune into and end up
Imagine a society without censorship, where everyone knows each other’s secrets, it would be lethal for society. What would happen if people knew one’s weaknesses?. There is evil that needs to be censored. Censorship is necessary in our society for many different reasons. It protects nations, prevents conflict in society, it protects the morals/privacy of people, and it is also helpful for children.
It is obvious that for years, the government has been trying to regulate this type of content but has seen very limited success. Part of the reason for this is because certain regulatory actions intended to protect only a small group, such as children, should not require the prohibition of material that adults have access to in other arenas. It is for example, legal for people to rent pornographic movies or buy nude magazines, so distribution of this type of material on the Internet should not be completely limited. People shouting out for protection of their 1st Amendment rights have made a good point when arguing against complete censorship. What seems more feasible is a sort of multi-layered approach to regulate illegal and harmful content on the Net. This would make it possible to form some sort of insulation for children
