Why College Education Is Important To Me

I believe that college is the right choice for me. I’ve grown up looking forward to advancing my education and creating a foundation for a future career. Both of my parents are college graduates and ingrained in me from a young age that college is the path to success. My aunts, uncles, and cousins are also highly successful after completing college. All the adults that make an impact in my life have gone to college, and I believe if I continue advancing my education I will turn out extremely successful.

College is important to me because it is the key that will open my future to many possibilities, which can lead to success. By not having a college degree it will limit my options of careers. Neither of my parents have a college degree nor I have had to work harder to survive in this country. Since I will be the first to attend college in my family, I am excited how this will benefit my whole family.

Many people find themselves questioning the importance of a college education. They ask themselves, “Why is College important to me?” One answer is extremely crucial in todays economy. In order to succeed and have little or no struggle financially, you must have a education that will end up being a career of your choice. Not just something that you have to settle for.

Why is college important to you? College is important to me because I see the many opportunities that it will provide for me that will not be provided if I do not attend. As a minority and a low-income student opportunity is limited. The support of college and a degree, provides many options and possibilities that I do not receive on a daily basis. Many of the people from my community are working just to pay the bills, however I want to find a career, explore the world and give back and I believe that college will give me those opportunities to do so. Attending college, also give me the chance to meet new people from the world and learn about them and how their world has shaped their live and the circumstances that led them into college. A college degree is important for a variety of reasons for both the young and the old, namely to develop or improve one’s trade skills, to experience different cultures and to increase one’s educational background in order to attain a higher paying job. For me, a college degree is important because it will help me to attain the educational background I need to make myself more marketable in the ever changing workforce. It will also provide me with the confidence and skills needed to apply for a better paying job or aid me in attaining the ever elusive promotion, if I so desire.

College Education is most important because its knowledge that can never be taken away from you and you will always have your college education to fall back on. First of all, the value of a college education can be taken in all different kinds of aspects. When enrolling in school I look at it like this is my pride and glory and no one can take this from me. On the first day of a new school year the popular thing to do is play an icebreaker name game. My teachers give the quick spiel of: name a (blank) that starts with the same letter as your name. As someone whose name starts with the letter E, I find myself struggling to find a quick example, whether it be an adjective, animal, color, food, etc. Excited? Eel? Electric blue? Eggplant? Everyone shares their name and word beginning with the same letter and the game soon ends. I am thankful for the opportunity to return to school after so long, and thankful that I am doing so now instead of procrastinating and allowing another ten years to go by.
