This chapter is talking about the European empires in the America, and how they reached there, and also for what purpose. The Europeans realized that they have to change their positions and build their empire or expand their empire in somewhere else, and they found that America is the best place for them. The geography helped the Europeans to migrate to America and it made it easier for them to reach there, because Portugal, Spain, Britain, and France were much closer to America rather than the Asian part, and also they understood the wind direction so they could easily travel to America and reach there. Europe was poor compered to China and India because China and India used Indian Ocean for trading. The Europeans used a great strategy for
European imperialism during 1450-1750, began as a plan to gain more riches for the European nations. The Europeans did this for three main reasons, which were for God, Gold, and Glory. The Europeans domination over Latin America, Africa and Asia were made out to be good for the native people of these lands. However, the Europeans were not there to help these geographic areas. They were there to spread their influence and gain riches for themselves and the European nations. The successes and failures of the Europeans and non Europeans would decide their relationship status for as long as they could co-exist.
Colonists settled in present-day Texas for a different reasons. Towns began to grow as more colonists arrived and needed food and supplies. Some people who came to North America sought a new life in a strange land that was rich with new supplies and resources allowing many settlers to start a new life. One of the main reasons the people of Spain wanted to come to North America is because they heard about it from other countries and wanted to get a claim on the land before everyone else took it for their own. Another reason was because they heard there were people that live there and that maybe they could negotiate trade with them somehow maybe getting their hands on the riches of this new land and to be helped by the natives and to find treasure.
1) Describe the conquest and development of the West between 1820 and 1850 by European Americans.
4. 1902 National Reclamation Act: created new farmland and drew Mexicans in. Encouraged the irrigation of arid land.
For the people of Europe the Americas was a place to prosper, worship in there own way, and expand there kingdoms. The only problem is that they attempted to settle in their own way and all failed dismally. The New England, Mid-Atlantic and Southern Colonies grew differently in various ways, but each with the same state of mind, “do it our way”. Examining the three sets of colonies will prove that they were all different in religion, government, and ways of expansion.
The first attempt of Europeans coming over to America was in 1000 a.d. by the Vikings. They sailed from the British Isles to Greenland, where they established a colony, the moved on to the Baffin Islands, and then finally Newfoundland. In Newfoundland, they established a colony in a fertile region and called it Vineland. From there, they sailed along the coast of North America observing the native plants, animals, and people. Strangely though, after a few years Vineland was abandon. Although, the Vikings never returned to America, their accomplishments became known to other Europeans.
The europeans the came to america after christopher columbus came to america left huge cultural impacts by causing the death of almost the entire group of people. This is shown by what the europeans did to the taino during the early years of the european exchange. Before the europeans came to america the taino came from Venezuela and traveled across the Antilles in groups of voyaging and settlement. They developed many successful communities in the area around venezuela. They farmed basic crops like maize, beans, yucca, and sweet potatoes. When columbus came they were quite generous to his crew. This gave columbus the wrong idea however as he thought that they would be easy to take advantage of. Soon after that spanish men took native away
Immigrants migrate to America because they too have dreams. They take life chances by leaving their country to America for the opportunity to achieve an enriched life for their families (Schaefer, 2015). In the video, “Immigrants Success Creates Abundant Opportunities for Many Others”, entrepreneur Sally Safe an immigrant, came to the United States to open a restaurant. He succeeded by opening 400 Subway franchises and employs 4000 people, which Safe was able to economically help his employees to be stable with a job with benefits and paid vacation. Safe states, “United States allows you to do what you want to do”, so he stayed “willing to take a chance”. Coming to America supported Safe to go after his dream. Also, he was able to contribute back to society by supporting a non-profit organizations for those to find jobs in the food service and he also supported the shelter for battered women.
During the Era of exploration the Europeans traveled to the Americas. The americas were a brand new place and there were new people as well, the indians. This new place was large and vast and there was so much to know but was the europeans coming to the americas a negative or a positive aspect of world history? Europeans coming to the americas was a negative impact in world history.
Many people wonder why immigrants come to America. Most immigrants come across border for freedom, others for money, but most of the time it’s for their religion. A lot of people run away and come to America because they want ‘Refuge’ AKA (Protection).
From Europe to the United States of America Before the discovery of America in 1492 by the European explorer Columbus, Europe had exhausted almost all its land resources; it had depleted its seas because of its disorganized way of fishing and had cleared all its forest lands from Adriatic to Baltic, for the timbre wood in order to build ships and fancy churches. Europe was a small land with huge population; it was a crowded continent and used resources of other countries to develop itself. Hunting down of animals was the idea of recreation for the noble class in Europe. Domestication of animals such as horse, goat, pig, and sheep was essential for the European prosperity. Europeans had been constantly engaged themselves in war due to greed
There are many reasons as to why the Europeans were able to make empires far away from their homelands. The first reason being that Europeans were near the Americas unlike their opponents (Asia) in which were father away. The Europeans were determined to gain more land, enlarge the religion of Christianity, and expand the economy by gaining more territory. Every European had their own reasoning for wanting to expand therefore, everyone had their own motives. Another reason that enabled them was that they were also involved in trading which helped them transport items to and from the Americas. The last reason was the Europeans immunity to diseases. While many Americans fell ill because of all of the European diseases, the Europeans did not, enabling them to conquer more land.
During 1400 - 1700 in Europe people think about the Renaissance, but something else was happening on the other side of the world. The Europeans that came to North America helped the world be more connected at the cost of the Indians. The Europeans discovered North America and conquered and controlled it from 1492 to 1776. The Indians did not appreciate all the Europeans but loved the trades they brought. They permanently changed the world from plants and animals to culture but changed it for the worse by bringing diseases.
Thesis- The discovery of the “New World” by Christopher Columbus and his crew in 1492 served a great change for the Europeans. Citizens of England, Spain, Dutch, and France try to start new settlements in hopes of finding gold. Even more, moving to the new country helped European citizens start a new land because of the opportunities to own land. Although the discovery of the New World served great change for the Europeans that wanted a new life, it left the Native Americans fighting for their life due to the Europeans diseases, advanced weapons, forced to learn a different religion and enslavement.
With steam engines becoming popular in the 1880s, more immigrants were importing into America from many places like Canada, the Middle East, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Mediterranean.
