World War II Was one of the largest wars in the world, and because of this there were many controversies to do with the war. One of these was whether or not it was right to use bombs. Although bombs were violent in World War II, they were very effective in conquering territory, which is what caused their continual use. However, bombs were extremely dangerous and the idea of building bigger bombs caused the Atomic bomb to be created. Bombs are very dangerous weapons. In World War Two, many cities and towns were destroyed during bombings The bombs would even destroyed entire ships. Millions of people were killed by bombs. The undetonated bombs would pose a serious risk. The bombs used during World War II were very effective in defeating the enemy. America could defeat Japan …show more content…
Atomic bombs would leave radiation where they would land. The atomic bombs destroyed entire cities and towns. Incendiary bombs should not have been used in warfare. They created large firestorms that destroyed huge areas. Fire is also the most painful way to die. Bombs were very expensive in World War II. Factories had to mass produce the bombs. Large European Cities were conquered without great losses, such as Paris and Amsterdam. The attacks could be carried out at night. New technologies improved precision of the bombs. One of the examples of this would be the German Blitzkrieg. Another example would be later in the war, with the American Firebombing of Japan and mass destruction caused. “More than $2 billion was spent during the entirety of the Manhattan Project.” Truman had little knowledge about the Atomic Bomb. “Not until Roosevelt died that he learned about the Manhattan Project”. Second Atomic Bomb was dropped 3 days after the first. The arms race created very bitter enemies. The atomic race caused cold war - Russia vs The U.S. The blitzkrieg attack on London caused animosity-Germany vs
Wars have been ended in many ways. Some have ended in anti climatic endings while some end in total destruction of a country or a military. But World War 2 ended with the introduction to the nuclear age of war. Many peace activists say that the bombings that ended the war was very unnecessary and not the way to end a war. But others say that it ended the war quicker. In my opinion the bomb was a good way to show the Japanese who was stronger and brought the war to a quicker end.
The atomic bomb was seen as a weapon capable of ending the war, and it did just that. Due to its quick and magnificent destruction capabilities, the United States could avoid hand to hand combat and save the lives of many Americans. On the other hand, the bombs were seen as unnecessarily brutal. Because of its lethal range, hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed.
The pressing question still lingers: Was the United States justified in using the Atomic Bomb against Japan during WWII? World War II stands as the bloodiest and deadliest war of all time. It involved more than thirty countries and resulted in over fifty million civilian and military deaths. It lasted six years, beginning with Adolf Hitler’s invasion of Poland in 1939. As the Allied Powers (mainly the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union) and the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan) were in direct conflict with each other, many wonder if the cost of victory was too extreme. In late 1941, the process of creating the world’s first, most deadly weapon began. The production of the first atomic bomb was code named “the Manhattan Project.” After months of production, August 6, 1945, America dropped the “Little Boy” bomb on Hiroshima, wiping out ninety percent of the city. August 9, 1945, just three days after the devastation of the first bomb, America dropped the “Fat Man” bomb on Nagasaki. Dropping the atomic bomb on Japan was not necessary, nor justified in ending World War II. Due to the fact that America targeted heavily civilian populated cities (with limited military value), that Japan was in a position of surrender before the bomb was dropped, and the fact that the U.S. did not give enough time for Japan to process the devastation of the first bomb before the second in Nagasaki shows that America’s decision to drop the atomic bomb was entirely unjustified.
Many debates have been provoked based on President Truman's decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The debate is not solely based on the bomb being dropped, but more on the actual necessity and intention of the bomb being dropped.
World War 2 was one of the worst wars in world history. The allied forces, the U.S., France, China, Russia, and Great Britain, were at war against the axis powers, Germany, Italy, and Japan, to stop the nazis from taking over the world. There were many bad events and battles that happened over the 6 year time span of the war; but one of the worst has to be the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings at the end of the war. Some people say that the U.S. Needed to drop the bombs to save American and Japanese lives. Some think otherwise, that the bombs were not nessecary to end the war. Even the scientists who created the bombs believed it shouldn't have been used. Once the bomb was created, there was controversy
With the start of World War II the race for the first atomic bomb started. With Germany under Hitler’s reign, the Nazis began separating uranium to form the first atomic bomb to control the world. The push for the United States build the first atomic bomb began with this knowledge. With the help of several scientists the United States succeeded in building the atomic bomb first. Two atomic bombs were used; a uranium bomb on Hiroshima and a plutonium bomb on Nagasaki. Along with the many deaths were six stages of A-bomb illness which includes acute stages, atomic bomb trauma, A-bomb radiation illness, radiation blood injury at lethal dosage, blood injuries, and secondary radiation illness. Seven unhealed scars were also an effect of the atomic bombs that includes keloids, A-bomb cataracts, leukemia, cancers, chromosome changes, exposure in utero and microcephaly, and genetic surveys. Regulations and guidance were set in place soon after the bombings to protect the people of the world based on the information that was gathered and it has changed over the years based on the new information that was learned. With the use of the atomic bombs in World War II, a lot of pain and suffering was caused, but a great deal of information was learned to help protect future generations from radiation.
World War Two and the Atomic Bomb World War II is one of the most historic points in the history of the world. The war was by far the most devastating in the history of the world. There were many controversial actions during the war, but one of the biggest was the decision by the United States to drop atomic bombs. The atomic bomb should have been used to end the war because it saved more lives than continuing the war. The official bombing order was signed on July 25, 1945, by Thos.
The discussion of lethal weapon has put nuclear weapon in the top list. Nuclear weapons and atomic bombs had first created since the 19th and 20th centuries where the United States, Great Britain, and Canada joined together. As it has been known widely, on August 6 1945 atomic bomb in Hiroshima detonated, followed the three days after in Nagasaki. Those atomic bombs have caused death of one hundred thousand Japanese civilians and
The Atomic Bomb or known Atom Bomb was created by a scientist, which assembled the first bomb. He and General Leslie Graves officially and successfully tested it in New Mexico, July 21, 1945. Despite this, two refugees from Italy and Germany in the early 1940’s, Enrico Fermi and Leo Szilard were the first to ever produce a controlled chain reaction. The bomb was created to use during WW2 and end it. This was big for America as president Franklin was notified that Germany was working on a similar weapon to use on America and its Allies. This bomb was needed to win the war and it took approximately 160,000 lives as a result while also having many affects on the people then, the people today, and the environment (Henretta, Edwards, & Self, 2012). The US was the first and only country to this day to drop an atomic bomb on another country, not once, but twice. This did end the war; however, the results were quite devastating to Japan. The environment and lives lost were all greatly impacted however, the world as a whole would be impacted for years to come. It also had its political reasoning behind it to show the global power of America. The devastation caused by the bombs also created deterrence from using them in the future at the time. Furthermore, now as other countries have improved technological
World War II was a catastrophic event that changed the course of history forever. Fifty million people were killed due to the abundance of destruction done in Europe and Asia. Although many events that took place during this time like the Holocaust were controversial the atomic bomb still is extremely controversial among millions of people. Dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki resulted in 80,000 innocent civilians lives gone. This is a ridiculous amount of deaths for one event in world history. Undoubtedly, it was not justified to drop the atomic bomb Japan, between the United States not giving Japan a reasonable amount of time to surrender and killing innocent civilians, the use of this barbaric weapon was rushed and uncalled
It was only used in war. (other than test) The atomic bomb gets its power from the release of energy by splitting the nuclei of elements such as plutonium or uranium.
The necessity of the atomic bombs have long been debated in America. Although they did contribute to stopping the war, Americans still wonder if murdering Japanese civilians was a necessary means to an end, or if it could have been avoided. Some people believe that the war would have ended without using the bombs. Others believe they were the sole purpose that the war finally ended. Many people were involved with bringing the bombs to fruition, such as the scientists, the government and military leaders, and the very teams that flew them to their targets. Then the President addressed the situation and American citizens spoke their minds. All of these people had their own thoughts on whether the bombs were needed. In this essay, the opinions on the atomic bomb’s necessity will be reviewed by presenting both the pros and cons from a variety of sources.
Without any help from Europe, they were in a situation, where they were even unsure if they could see the next sunrise as in flag. Although the supporters of atomic bomb claimed that it also protected the lives of Japanese, there was no proof at the time that atomic bombs would cause them to surrender and result in fewer casualties. The only necessity was to convince them to accept unconditional surrender. But, the United States has hastened to the solution from the reasons that the war is continuing for long, and perhaps for the retaliation of Pearl Harbor and starting the war. The atomic bombs destroyed almost everything, while some remained like Hiroshima Peace Memorial, best known today as Atomic Bomb Dome, which keeps passing down the knowledge to never let similar tragedy to take place
The atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan can be viewed as a good or bad thing. Some people think that Japan deserved it considering that they attacked Pearl Harbor, but some think that two wrongs do not make a right. The bombings on Japan had very long-lasting effects on the country and the people. The bombings were a cruel thing to do that killed so many and a large amount of people suffered from the after effects of the bombs for days or for years. Some people believe it was more of a political statement behind the bombings and others think it was to protect the American people and our Military. The bombs were dropped towards the end of World War II so why do such a thing when the war was ending? Why start another fight?
Earlier in the war, in 1942, the US conducted a secret military project called the Manhattan Project. The making of the first atomic bomb. Fears that Nazi Germany would
