Millions of people visit the zoo to see the animals and they believe that the zoos are inhumane and that the animals should not be kept in captivity. I am both ways, I think they should be kept in captivity but then again I feel bad and they should be.
There are many reasons why animals are kept in captivity and I think that having them stay in a zoo is a lot better than having them stay in something way worse or locked up with the wrong people. A good zoo will provide great care and protection to animals in their care. They will be taken care of and loved by the workers. They will be shown off to the people that came to look at them.
Zoos are often the best hope or even last hope for the survival of a species, especially if they are
Animals kept in zoos has always been a controversial decision. Zoos have been around for 4,000 years. Many people argue about the impact a zoo has on an animal and the world. According to the article, ”Zoos: The Historical Debate”, “Some people argue that zoos play an important role in conservation of endangered animals, others say that zoos do more harm than good.” I believe that zoos play an important role in conservation. They also educate us about animals. Finally, zoos entertain us in many ways. In my opinion, zoos impact the world in a good way.
Zoos are home to many animals in captivity which they are different from their natural habitat. Many animals suffer when they are in captivity because the zoos are very different from their natural habitat for example some zoos do not have places for relaxation of animals or the foods are different also many animal live alone.
Scientists, zoologists, and the staff at zoos all agree that by keeping species in captivity, the species is benefiting from it. For some species, captivity is the only reason why their species is surviving. For example, the amount of tigers that are owned by private individuals
Although keeping animals in captivity is bad because they don't get to be themselves they should keep animals in zoos or captivity because it helps the species not go extinct, it brings happiness to families that go to the zoo, and zoos bring in enough money to build better exhibits. Even though zoos still have negative impacts on animals lives they should still keep animals in
The exhibits are also very fascinating, and after going to the zoo you can catch a glimpse of a certain animal's way of life. Without zoos we wouldn't have the unbelievable experience of seeing Earth's most beautiful life forms. Zoos keep endangered species safe, and out of harms way. We need to start caring about the life forms on this planet. Showing each animal compassion, and love. My knowledge on zoos has been stretched after my reading analysis today. Based off of the articles, "The Stripes Will Survive", "The Zoos Go Wild", and "Our Beautiful Macaws and Why They Need Enrichment", we can truly get in-depth analysis about the role zoo's
According to an article form Doris Linn, an animal rights expert, for About News; zoos do provide some benefits keeping animals in captivity. A good zoo delivers excellent animal care with exception enclosures with plenty of room for the animals.
Moreover, zoos help to repopulate endangered animal species such as the California condor, a vulture. As it says in the article “Zoos: The Historical Debate” after ten years of working
“Captive animals are abused and exploited in a variety of settings, including research and product testing, the entertainment industry, fur farms, and the exotic ‘pet’ trade” (Born Free USA). Zoos are holding animals all around the world captive. Zoos are not letting them live in their natural habitats and roam free. Captive animals are are not healthy and it's not good for the environment. For example bornfreeusa.org states “Every year, captive exotic animals are involved in incidents in which humans are injured or even killed.” Animal captivity should not be allowed. Captivity affects animals mental health, they can’t get enough exercise and food that they normally get, additionally, these animals that are in captivity can get many diseases and could die.
Zoos provide protection for animals. Some hunters may kill animals in the wild for their skin so they can sell it. In a zoo, this can never occur. Another reason that zoos should not be banned is that animals are really looked after in the zoo. If an animal got sick in the wild nature there is no one to treat it and most probably the animal will suffer from pain and may even die. However, if the same case was in a zoo, highly qualified vets will be available to deal with this situation appropriately and these vets will provide medicine to the sick or injured
First, animals should not be in captivity because zoos don't provide animals with enough space. According to Vegan Peace, it states, “Zoo animals have to spend day after day, week after week, year after year in the exact same enclosure, this makes their
There are thousands of zoos and circuses around the world that display various animals in them. The zoos are for people to look, learn, and “protect” the animals. The zoo's also breed, sell, and buy animals. Wild animals should not be kept in captivity because while they are in captivity, they suffer from stress, boredom, and confinement, similarly they get separated from their family and environment.
Zoos are terrible places for animals that do not belong in cages. Zoos include roadside zoos, petting zoos, and smaller animal exhibits. The animals they have are meant to be out in the wild not locked up in cages. The areas are not big enough for them to be animals. They are held in captivity with nowhere to go because if they try to break out, they are going to get shot down. Animals are not meant for entertainment. If you want to see an animal there are many websites with live cameras in order to see it. Also, if you want to see animals the animals should have a free range area and the people ride around in cars to look. The people should take the chances of getting beaten, eaten, trampled, etc. Zoos make money off poor animals who have no choice
Zoos sometimes even take endangered or hurt species and nurture them back to health, but the amount of human interaction animals get in the zoo environment can be extremely harmful in the long run. By becoming more comfortable with humans, animals a lot of the time become more vulnerable to poachers and predators (Cite). Also, students at Oxford University studied the effects of zoo captivity on species and found many animals suffer reproductive, health, and behavioral problems after being held in captivity (Evans). And on few occasions animals, such as snow leopards and ring-tailed lemurs, adjust well and can even thrive in captivity. However, a lot of the time the only reason we keep them in captivity is for the education of humans, maybe it’s time to educate another way, perhaps with some of the technology we are loaded with
Is it ethical to keep animals in captivity and use them for personal wants? Animals are constantly being taken away from their homes and put on display. Trainers make them perform at the circus and in aquariums. They are held in zoos so they can be seen by millions. Some are even kept as pets like monkeys, lions, and tigers.
Keeping animals locked in cages, bored and cramped up in such a small space is an awful sight to show the children. It creates an image in the little minds of children that animals are to be treated like they don’t matter. They say Zoos are a place where children can learn about the wild, exotic animals, but in reality it doesn't teach them anything only that they are meant to be caged up, which is wrong. Also, it is really painful to see the animals bored and lonely, so why should people keep letting them do this to these beautiful creatures. Animal captivity for entertainment should end to let them go to their rightful home.
