I have always been afraid of math, but the professor in this book did help me overcome this problem. Different from the previous two books that we read before. This book is completely different, it is neither mysterious, nor complex, but it is the most touching one. It keeps telling us that there do exist goodness and humanity in this dog eat dog world. After finish reading this book, I still did not know the romantic story between the professor and his sister in law, but I did not care about it anymore. What I cared is the special bond between the professor and Root. Although this book is titled as , if you asked me who has the most special connection with professor, I would say Root without hesitation. The professor’s eight minutes life
Personally, I did not enjoy the book. It didn't get all that interesting until the last couple of chapters. Before that, it spewed facts in my face and lacked an intriguing plot. I learned a lot from this book, but You would be better off reading a science journal, magazine, or website. Otherwise, it was an okay book.
What Did You Expect To Learn When You Picked Up The Book? To What Extent – And How Effectively – Were Your Expectations Met?
This book is a very good book. It is not one of my favorite books, but it is in, or somewhat close to, the top ten list. It has an intriguing story and has some humor in it to make sure that it isn’t all mellow.
The book starts out strong and extremely informational, slows down extremely in the middle chapters and ends in theory, which is somewhat thought provoking.
There were a few points in this book that taught me about life and how crazy it can be sometimes. The photographer named Fulgencio was very afraid of hitch hiking to Mexico City with a stranger, especially with all of us expensive equipment. On the ride, Fulgencio is so paranoid that the guy is going to kill him, he grabs a machete out of the back of the truck. In doing so he gets kicked out of the car and loses all of his photography equipment anyways. This taught me that we need to trust each other more, Just because there are a few crazy people in the world, we shouldn't let them give us all a bad name. I mean, the guy picked Fulgencio up when he was in desperate need of a car, and gives him a ride. He should have been thankful, not picked up a machete and threaten the guy. Another thing this book taught me was that just because your sister doesn't want your kid anymore because she
I wouldn’t recommend this book to the average reader. It is a bit hard to read because the author goes into so much depth that the reader could very often forget the main idea. It is a good, informative book but a bit drawn out.
This highlights the realistic atmosphere prevailing as well as reflects the true meaning of relationship. The readers are exposed to the mother-son relationship. It can be seen that even if the narrator is a twenty-year old law student, he is still the little boy who needed his neck scrubbed from the point of view of the mother. Whatever good advice the son gives, it is not followed and instead he is given a lecture. This is a typical mother-son relationship which shows that no matter how much a child grows, he always remains a little kid for the mother. Moreover, the readers also notice the routine life of the narrator and his mother. The boy used to accompany his mother to work and help her which makes a four-hour job becomes two. There is solidarity, strong family bond and understanding between them because although he did not like his mother
A Watery Reflection of Claribel Algeria The poems of Claribel Alegria and “I Am Mirror” “Rain” and “Flowers from the Volcano” all intertwine with the imagery that takes a direct look at the social injustice and human right violations happening in Central America. With her poems she uses imagery and metaphors to draw her readers into a sensory experience. Because her imagery is a foundation of her poems that all interconnect with one another. Alegria’s poems are profound and the use of direct messages about the injustice and violence that is ongoing in Central America. With the use of water imagery it shows her reflections or metaphor towards her stories of experience.
Have you ever done something to make yourself unwanted somewhere? The book, The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, takes place in Boston, Massachusetts, during the 17th century. Now and then are very different times, the townspeople wanted Hester dead, but in this time, there would be very little punishment. Throughout the novel, Hawthorne uses the symbols of light and dark to depict good and evil among the characters Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth.
BOO! The most iconic phrase to scare someone, but in this story scary will be taken to different level. There will be no table cloth ghosts or skeletons on strings. only the supernatural beings coming out to play on the ignorant. Irving’s “The Devil and Tom Walker” sets the scene with an eerie description of the characters and the setting. Irving’s style of writing is very humorous at times but then very serious at other. Irving also uses folktale throughout his stories. With all of these styles to make a point about human values. The story starts with a description of Tom, his wife and the Charleston Bay near Boston. this was intentional by Irving. To give such a bland flat, stereotypical greedy people. Yet to be humorous at the same
I did actually really like this book. I was not sure if I was going to enjoy it when the project was first assigned, but after reading for a while, I became really interested
My favorite part of the book was the warning signs to know when a stranger is a potential threat. This was fascinating to me because I’ve been told since I was just a little boy to beware of strangers. But with all these warnings about strangers I had never been told how to recognize when a
This book is an eye opener, making you look at things in a different way changing your views and perspective of things we thought were impossible or that they had no relationship at all. He incentives you to formulate the correct questions by questioning everything that you feel curious about. Just remember what a genius once said, "I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious."- Albert Einstein. Just remember how the book says
Life is beautiful because of the complex nature that it is. There are moments of pure bliss and happiness that one doesn’t want to go away. However, there are also problems and challenges that lay in the journey and it takes great courage to keep. It is a concept that is not easily explained if symbols and metaphors are not used for it. These examples of figurative language often help make the concepts of transitions, positions, and experiences seem clearer.
I loved this book so much. There is so much action and is so much better and exciting with so much amazing detail and description. This is one of my favorite books ever. When you read it, you don’t want to put it down and it makes you feel like you are with the characters in the book and you know them so well. I recommend this book to anyone who can read at this level.
