I come from Generation Nothing. Generation Internet-Addicted, Generation 2-cool-4- U. No one cares about a group like us. Why should they; we're seen as a group of heartless monsters that couldn't care less about ourselves, let alone anyone else. And, yeah, this world is going down the drain. At least half the people I know have serious mental disorders; at the age of fourteen, I have had to talk more people into eating, more people out of cutting, more people out of suicide, more than any average person in a previous generation did in their lifetime. We are a messed-up group of kids. We're more afraid of losing our phone than our virginity, and why shouldn't we be; it has our entire life on it. We're not afraid of actual threats 'cause we've been taught to deal with them …show more content…
We forget that our differences, standing out in a crowd, defying authority; that's what keeps us going. For instance, if I had any different skin color, and stated that aforementioned sentence about defying authority, the so-called authorities would think I was a terrorist, or in a gang, or trying to take over their whitewashed cities. Chances are, I would’ve already been shot. Even here, as I stand, anyone would think I was a silly little teenage girl who'd gotten everything she ever wanted in life and was simply going through a harmless phase, that she'd grow up to the monotony of being a suburban-stay-at-home mother with four kids and a station wagon who'd lost the ability to think for herself. Society dehumanizes everyone. I'm supposed to be this cookie-cutter print-out that gets spat out of school at eighteen and doesn't know how to function so just follows the road of life with everyone else 'cause it's easier. And, yeah, it's a way of life, but is it really living, or is it simply existing? Everyone I know has already given up on their future, 'cause dreams are just whimsical fantasies for little girls who need to grow up and face the real world.

The risk of being killed in some random act of violence isn’t even in the same universe as having your own, personal Bogyman who hates you and wants to hurt you and everyone you love. I freely admit that I’m not the least bit rational — it’s a gut-level fear we have been living with for 30 years.
Nobody in the Light When society makes you feel like you have to look a certain way, it affects the actions of a person. In the novel Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld, where Tally Youngblood lives, if she does not look ‘Pretty’, society will judge her on based on her appearance. To overcome this obstacle, Tally uses determination at first, followed by loyalty. Tally Youngblood demonstrates determination at the beginning of the novel. “Shay grasped Tally’s hand, and waited until their eyes locked.

Like many other teenagers, she didn't feel understood. The best way to describe her is when she writes "don't do this, you're acting childish and immature again" (21) meaning that she doesn't think highly about herself since she talks to herself like this. Another quotation exemplify her is "I don't know if I should be ashamed or elated" (30). This shows that she is really confused and lost trying to figure her life out. Adding to this when she says "life is unbelievable now, time seems so endless yet everything goes so fast" (98) it shows how caught up in drugs she is and how it's hard for her to slow it down.
Professor Joanne Simpson wrote in her article “Multitasking State of Mind”, “When [Gen Z is] not connected, they don’t know quite what to do with themselves.”(Par 17) Generation Z has been attracted to social media in a way that is has made them addicted to it and also sleep deprived. Lack of communication with other human beings however, is another negative effects of social media in accordance with Generation Z. Social Media affects Generation Z in a positive way by how it is used educating young children and giving the teens the potential to improve the many practical skills. Social media has been a big part of people’s lives since the mid 2000s and it is affecting Generation Z both negatively and positively.

Is social media to blame for actions that put kids in danger? Social media and YouTube may have an effect on children causing harm to them. Challenges have been around for centuries but kids are eating laundry detergent and even lighting themselves on fire. People complain that social media and YouTube should have stricter rules on what people post. People say that social media and YouTube have no influence on what kids do.
Over the last 30 years, the methods of human interactions have grown explosively, from face-to-face conversations, to video calling, instant messaging, texting, Facebook, Youtube, Snapchat, and Instagram. As the technology we surround ourselves with pervades an increasing number of aspects in our lives, it has begun to affect our mental health. A Carnegie Mellon study concluding that internet usage leads to significant increases in loneliness and depression received U.S. national media coverage (Kraut, Patterson, et al., 1998). However, others argue that the internet may just provide a place of refuge for those suffering from loneliness, anxiety, and depression. (McKenna and Bargh, 59)
Because we think we have grown, we believe we do not need to ask ourselves,
The Internet is a technology that has negative impacts on our daily lives. It has changed aspects of our life for the last 50 years, and it has demonstrated the considerable influence on people’s lives. Almost 3.2 billion people in the world use the internet. The Internet has gained acceptance across the globe, and it has also become a reason behind the critical changes in the modern society. Some of the changes are social isolation, health disorder, lack of privacy and internet addiction.
