In closing, to receive this scholarship it will be an accomplishment for myself and a chance to achieve my goals. With this scholarship, I plan to take advantage of this opportunity and get all that I need to get my degree. I guarantee you if I receive this scholarship I will use my degree to help those around me live a better
First generation college students, are just trying to be different than the rest of their family. They are trying to better themselves from what they grew up with, or at least for me, I am. I deserve this scholarship because I am trying to beat the odds. I am trying to overcome my environment, I want to be more than just what I was born into, I just want to exceed, and show how capable I can be.
I would like to be considered to receive the Catholic Daughters of America College Scholarship for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons is that I highly value education and have proved to be a dedicated student. I will graduate at the top of class and have received recognition for excelling in my educational path throughout high school. I have the skills that are needed to be successful in the college setting. I also plan on attending a private college, which can be more expensive than public colleges. The scholarship will be utilized to offset the cost. I feel that this private college is the ideal setting to be able to focus on the academic field I want to obtain a degree in. It also has more opportunities for service to others.
I think I deserve this scholarship because I am a bright student that continuously strives to be the best that I can be. I have been through many struggles but continue to make the most of life itself. To me scholarships are not just free money to go out and spend on whatever. I truly need this money to be able to further my education because it is already a huge struggle for me to put gas in my car so that I can go to my nurse aide class. I know that things will work out as long as I never give up on my dreams. I am very serious when it comes to my education. This is because in society today if you don't have a good educational background then it is very hard to find a good job. Life has always been a battle for me but knowing that there are people out there who are ready to help and inspire me through the hard times just makes it all worth it. So as long as i know that people appreciate what I do, I will never give up.
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because I come from a background in which my parents did not go far with education. This has made life hard for my family and myself. My mother is unable to work because she is dealing with multiple sicknesses and my father, who was our main source of income, passed away. My parent both put a lot of pressure on me to get a good education, but we lack the funds to make my dreams of becoming a doctor a reality. If I am awarded this scholarship, I would be so grateful and it would not go to waste.
I strongly believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because not only am I a dedicated and hardworking growing young adult, but I also incorporate those traits to what I value the most, school. Ever since I started school, I have worked hard to where I am now. I have a 3.8 G.P.A. On a 4.0 scale which I have worked long nights for. Since throughout all of high school I have been, an still am, involved in many extracurriculars such as DECA, Interact Club, Spanish Honor Society but also managed to be involved in sports as well like Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field and Cheerleading. Being a top, varsity athlete in all, has taught me many valuable traits which have helped also become a wonderful young adult.
To say that I deserve this scholarship more than anyone else who applies seems pretentious. My entire life I have been taught that nothing in life is owed to me, but rather I need to work my hardest to accomplish my goals and overcome obstacles. One of the obstacles I currently face is funding my college career. Scholarships and grants are imperative to not just me, but every student that does not have financial support from their parents. My parents are unable to contribute financially to my education, but support me wholeheartedly in my endeavors. For the last several years, I have maintained a full-time minimum wage job to help with books and some tuition; however my classes are requiring more of my time. In order to become a full-time
I believe I should be awarded the Courage To Grow Scholarship for many more reasons than one. To begin with, I am a smart, determined young lady with an ambition to succeed. To me, most setbacks lead to major comebacks, and during downfalls I make it a priority to continue to fight towards whatever goal it is that I have set for myself. Being that I am a hard working individual, I go the extra mile to get any and every goal I have set accomplished. I always find myself setting new goals to make bigger accomplishments because I prefer the thrill of overcoming challenges that your average person would give in to. In addition, I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I am an African American girl who wants a fair chance of pursuing
I believe I should be awarded the Courage to Grow Scholarship because the meaning of school is much more to me than it may be for others. School has such a sympathetic meaning to me due to the fact my Father and I have an amazing relationship and anything to make him proud will become a goal of mine. When I was younger around the age of 5 I promised my father that I would go to college, even though at that age I barely knew what college was. If it wasn’t for the promise being made or me keeping it who knows where I would be today; it has brought me a long way and gave me the opportunity to push myself to be a better person.
1. Why do you feel you are deserving of this scholarship? I want to help research and design robotic prosthetics that provide more natural movements and the sense of touch. Movement is one of the challenges that affect people with missing limbs the most. Having the ability to stand, walk, reach, and grab are tasks that do not come easy for them. They will always need assistance. Being on our high school robotics team, we built robots that could lift, throw, and grab objects. I would love to make robotic devices to help disabled people live normal lives. I recently had the opportunity to visit a facility for wounded soldiers at Ft Sam, TX. We learned how they fit and customize prosthetic arms and legs for the soldiers and how they benefit
Words cannot express my gratitude. Receiving the Bettye McDonald Caldwell and Fred T. Caldwell, Jr. scholarship is truly an honor! After the lottery scholarship, I end up having to pay for about half my tuition, which makes this gift is an incredible blessing. Going to school full-time and working
I would like to be considered for an additional scholarship due to not only financial reasons but because I believe I can become a model Honors College student. I'm actively involved in multiple organizations on campus, I work part-time as a student assistant with the Honors College along with making sure I get good grades.
Uneducated, Ignorant, and a house keeper was all I was set to be living in a small predominantly white town in Florida. I knew racism existed, but was too young to comprehend it. As I sat in class to better myself, and ensure that I learned the native tongue of those around me I found myself becoming blended. I am a Puerto Rican/Dominican American and the second generation of being a natural born citizen. I am, however, the first generation to apply to college. I feel I deserve this scholarship because I have come a long way from racism and overall expectations.
I plan to attend the Kansas State University in Italy Faculty led program so I can gain more knowledge and creativity as I continue working towards my degree in graphic design. I have always wanted to visit Italy as well. I think this would be the perfect experience for me since it is held through the Art department and led by my very own professors, who I will continue to work with after traveling abroad. Personally, I have always loved the idea of traveling to other countries to be able to learn and appreciate their cultures first hand. I believe the breathtaking architecture and landscape in Italy will greatly inspire and impact my graphic design and photography abilities the most. This experience will truly help me to grow as an artist. Therefore, I know when I come back for the fall semester that I will be bursting with ideas and inspiration for my art projects. In my future professional career, I would love to be able to work internationally with foreign companies. This program will greatly improve my chances of having that opportunity and give me the skills and knowledge I would need to succeed in doing so.
I am currently a high school senior, I attend Booker T. Washington Early College High School. I want to be a successful teacher and an entrepreneur. To accomplish the goals I set for myself I will need a college education and it is very expensive. I think that I am deserving of this scholarship because I am an honest conscientious hardworking student who would be extremely grateful for such an opportunity.
