When Mongol warriors first attacked and conquered no one had known where they had developed from. Because of this fact, the Mongols had the upper hand in attacking and conquering greater lands. Genghis Khan was one of the great rulers of the Mongols. His strategy in the army was to unite soldiers more but in a forcing manner. A soldier could be killed if they or people from their quad had run away from battle, or if some soldiers are brave and go straight
In their role of empirical dominance throughout 13th century Eurasia, the Mongol’s were nomadic tribes of herders and raiders north of China, under the leadership of Genghis Khan. Born under the name Temujin, Genghis traits of charisma and reputation as a tactician won over his people’s support. Thus through the act of uniting groups of the steppe (region), he was crowned Khan of Khan in 1206. As quoted from Hugh Kennedy’s book Mongols, Huns and Viking's nomads at war” “the Mongols were triumphant in every major engagement fought up to ‘Ayan Jalut in 1260’ “. The Mongols were a nomadic society in Mongolia. They were known as a destructive and powerful society led by Genghis Khan who took over much of Asia during the Middle Ages. Overall, Genghis Khan was a barbarian who was brutal and destructive for many reasons. Firstly, Genghis Khan helped spread the deadly black plague. According to the video, History vs. Genghis Khan, the Mongols under Genghis Khan catapulted plague infected bodies over the walls of the cities they conquered, helping the spread of the plague.
He was well respected as an emperor for he was enigmatic enough to inspire the Mongols to follow him into war. Khan would also give his followers the spoils from their raids and would give important people positions of power: “I shall organize the army in units of a thousand, and those who have come with me to help found the empire shall be made leaders of a thousand and in addition I shall reward them with words of gratitude” (Secret History 23-24). Genghis became quite famous as his army grew quickly due to the promises of riches from their next invasion. He continued to gain honor by expanding the Mongol Empire as other leaders of other countries and empires lost their honor. Other empires, such as the Kereits, Persians, and Muslims, could not defend against the Mongols and were “stripped of their possessions and to be enslaved” (Secret History 22). Genghis Khan was able to make the Mongol Empire extremely powerful by creating unity of command, organization, and
When Genghis Khan comes to mind, many think of him as a ruthless, uncivilized barbarian, or an uncouth tribal leader who conquered and destroyed more advanced cultures and set civilization back hundreds of years. In fact, the French philosopher Voltaire described him as “this destructive tyrant … who proudly … treads on the necks of kings but is yet no more than a wild Scythian soldier bred to arms and practiced in the trade of blood,” claiming Genghis Khan to be much inferior to those around him. In actuality, Genghis Khan was a visionary leader whose conquest ameliorated the world in a multitude of ways and led to an unprecedented era of knowledge. Through uniting the major civilizations in trade, the Mongols helped water the seeds of

The Mongols just like many other tribes started as a small group and was created by Ghengis Khan. At the age of 19 when his wife as abducted, he gathered as many men as he could and started a civil war to rescue his wife. This proved his military proficiency and later became the leader of the Mongols. Soon after he began his conquest, he was swiftly taking over villages and then that became country after country. The Mongolian Empire stretched from their homeland all the way to the Caspian Sea. Even after his death the Mongolians never stopped their conquests as they were continued by his offspring’s. Ghengis Khan was known to love women so much that there are approximately 16 million direct descendants of Ghengis Khan. By 1240 the Mongolian
Genghis Khan has 16 million living descendants. Genghis Khan, which means universal ruler, was a military leader who united all of Mongolia. He acquired most of his empire from military conquest. His empire consisted of modern-day Russia, China, Korea, southeast Asia, the Middle East and eastern Europe. Genghis Khan was one of the most influential rulers because he united people, created peace and had a large impact on the economy.
To begin his conquests, Genghis Khan directed his attention to the Chinese, who had plentiful amounts of food and wealth. However, the Chinese were able to defend themselves, and prevented the Mongolians from attacking. “The initial failure in China forced Chinghis to direct his armies westward against the Turks and Persians.” (Adler and Pouwels, 239-41). In the campaigns against the Persians and Turks, Genghis Khan had his armies attack wealthy Muslim cities, and decimated the populations. If the people weren’t massacred, they were forced into slavery. Mongolians had little care for culture or literature, as they burned libraries, turned mosques into stables, and essentially ruined the cities that they attacked. “Never had such destruction been seen; word of an approaching Mongol army sometimes was enough to inspire wholesale flight.” (Adler and Pouwels, 239-41). Stories of Mongol blood thirst were a phenomenon that Genghis Khan wanted to spread among people, as to prevent the demise of Mongolian soldiers, or people. This also made it quite easy to conquer other places, as any idea of resistance disappeared when the Mongols were in sight.
Have you ever wondered where your ancestors came from? Where your family started? Through preservation of your genealogy, you can put those wonders to rest. Genealogy is the study of tracing the roots of your ancestors. People do not realize the importance of preserving their family history, because it never concerns them. Geretta Saunders understands this importance, because she wrote to Ancestory.com about her journey on finding her lost soldier. Her and her husband started their ancestral research in 1997, but they could not find the name of her husband's great-great-grandfather; all they knew was that he was a civil war soldier that never came home after the war. During their search, they found his name on a marriage certificate with his
