I am pro-choice, not because I do not value human life, and most certainly not because I hate children, both of those ideas would be completely illogical to me. I believe that human life is of the utmost importance, but I also think that women’s rights are incredibly important. It is not inhumane, or unfair for women to seek out an abortion, it is their medical decision.
People state that the mother could simply give the child up for adoption, and the mother is just trying to run away from their responsibilities, but there are a number of reasons why women choose to have an abortion. Pregnancies can be very costly to begin with, and place a lot of stress on the body, the mother may be unable to afford to keep the child. In addition to this,
There are many reason why a woman may choose to have an abortion. Of the women who reported having an abortion, 21 % said they made the choice because of inadequate finances, 11% were too young and/or immature, 3% was due to the baby having possible health problems and less than 1% said they made the decision because of being raped or because of incest. There were also other reasons given. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there were 730,322 abortions reported in 2011.
I am pro-life for the most part. I believe that in almost all circumstances the baby deserves to live and deserves a chance at life. There are so many women out there that absolutely love children and want them so badly but cannot have children. I feel so terribly for these
There many reasons why a woman has an abortion. The most common reasons for an abortion is because of birth control failure. Over half of all women who have an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant. Some people have abortions because they can not support the child and also to prevent the birth of a child with birth defects or severe medical problems. There are also people that have an abortion because of rape or
Some abortion cases are due to being too young to support the child. According to “Abortions In America”, Women give an average of 3.7 reasons why they are seeking an abortion including the following: 21% Inadequate finances, 21% Not ready for responsibility, 12% Problems with relationships, unmarried, 11% Too young and/or immature, and 35% other.
One is if the baby had some sort of health issue and the doctors discovered it early on in the pregnancy. Nobody would want their child to lead a life of pain and constantly taking medication so the person considering the abortion would feel as if she was doing it for her unborn child which in her mind would be justified. The second reason is if a woman is raped, because if she went through with the pregnancy, the baby would be a constant reminder of the guy who raped her. These are the reasons supporting the girl’s decision to follow through with an abortion because as mentioned before all these reasons affect the girl and the baby in a negative way.
What are the reasons behind having an abortion? And, does abortion solve their problems? Pregnancy happens under different circumstances, some which are planned and some are unplanned and are unexpected, some women are unable to continue with their pregnancy and have no other choice. Abortion may solve the problem of an unwanted child, but it is not the answer to all unwanted pregnancies, in fact, many women are against it, many say “that if they are given a choice between keeping their unborn child and aborting it, 85 per cent will chose to keep the child” (Reachout.com, 2014). Abortion is not a blanket problem and we are unable to foresee every case possible, therefore, each case must be treated appropriately and according to the circumstances surrounding it, and a solution that best work with the reasons should be found, rather than sweeping it under the carpet.
Women choose to abort for several different reasons that they find as an excuse. Some women choose abortion because they don’t feel as if they are “ready” to take on the job of a mother. Truthfully, this is incorrect because a woman has to learn the challenges of a mother while raising a child. There are many
We all live our lives as we please all in accordance to the law, but when it comes to abortion people start to judge and try to regulate how others live and interfere in their personal choices. We live in a country based on freedoms, and women have and should continue to have the freedom to the choice of an abortion. A woman’s right to choose abortion is a fundamental right recognized by the US Supreme Court. The courts also have a category of classes called the ‘near-suspect’ classes, which include gender. Gender deserves protection from possible discrimination at the hands of the majority. Women constitute a majority of American’s and have been discriminated in the past. The Landmark case Roe v. Wade was decided and remains the law of the land. Making laws against abortions don’t stop abortions from happening; they just make it less safe, which in many cases leads to death. Therefore idea of supporting pro-life is contradictory, this is why the nation should be pro-choice. No child should be brought into this world where they are not wanted or are not able to live a normal life. Most people who are against abortion will never even become pregnant, so they should not be making laws against it. Pregnancy is a private and personal matter. Outlawing abortion is discriminatory and unfortunately abortions are being transformed from a right to a privilege for most women.
Having a pro-choice viewpoint is not something that a person chooses overnight. I went through seven years of sexual education before I really understood abortion and could make an educated decision on my choice of sides. I have gone from being totally against the abortion procedure, to fully accepting it. I believe that before you can really say that you do not believe in abortion you have to come up against it in your own life. I know several women who have had abortions, not so they could party or have fun, but so they wouldn't ruin their entire lives because of a mistake. They weren't particularly overjoyed about it - no one is - and all are good, decent people
Abortion was created to aid in certain situations in which a woman could not or did not want to give birth to a child and to care for the child. Abortion is a method in which the baby still in the mother’s womb or the living embryo/fetus is killed. Abortions will be performed for many reasons if it is an unwanted pregnancy for social and/or financial reasons or if there are medical circumstances with the child and/or the mother. A woman may be unable to carry the child or there may be congenital defects and the child would not be able to live afterbirth. The child may have genetic irregularities, such as Down syndrome. The parents may feel that they would be incapable of caring for the child and often the parents may feel that to have
a. Many woman decide to get an abortion because of the doctors birth defect testing. Some birth defects include Down syndrome, sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, heart defects, neural tube defects and countless more.
Women have an abortion for many reasons. About < .5% of women have an abortion due to rape, 3% due to fetal health problems, 4% due to physical health problems, and 4% said it would interfere with their education and/or career. Another 7% said they were not mature enough to raise a child, 8% said they didn 't want to be a single mother, and 19% stated that they were done having children. Two main reasons that women have an abortion is that they cannot afford to have a baby (23%) and that they are not ready to have a child (25%). Because of women’s differing circumstances, congress made the decision to legalize abortion. They wanted all women to have a choice when their life is at stake, they were raped, or when incest occured.
What some people don't realize there are many reasons for unwanted pregnancies due to poverty, rape
There are many reasons as to why a woman may want to get an abortion, but those reasons may not make having an abortion ethical. Some reasons include rape, incest, not being financially able to support a child, having a disabled child, the pregnancy causing dangers to the woman’s health or simply not wanting to care for a child. If the woman has the child it may interfere
Another reason why some women have abortions is due to medical problems that they think or know they can’t handle. The fetus might have been hurt by exposure to high levels of toxic chemicals, medications that might be dangerous to the fetus, alcohol, drugs, etc. They may cause the fetus to be genetically damaged. Some girls become pregnant at a very young age, when pregnancy can be dangerous. The fetus has a genetic defect or other health problem. Virtually all of the couples who find that the fetus suffers from Down's Syndrome, or a similar defect, elect to have an abortion. The woman may develop
