Playing sports or even having the knowledge of them can result into happier and more social students. In the video Notebook: Kids and Sports, Katie Couric states, “Playing sports cannot only give kids more confidence, it can also give them more rewarding friendships” (Notebook). This implies that our school can be more successful if we have greater variety of sports kids can join. Although being happier and more social isn't the only benefit of being in sports.
I believe High School should not have sports programs. In source 1 paragraphs 5 some schools just like Martha's Vineyard Religion High School care more about sports than other subjects in school moreover about the school the principal would whether pay sizable amount of money for sports than the school's funds. In paragraphs 6 in source 1 the teens at MVRHS have to get up really early like 6:00 a.m for relation to the school. So the athletes can have they classes early so they can play the game and because of this half of the student body are extremely tired which cause depression from the lack of sleep.
Have you ever wondered how Edgar Allan Poe creates such amazing and suspenseful works that catch the reader's attention? He creates suspense using craft elements such as imagery, irony and repetition in the following stories; The Cask of Amontillado, The Raven and The Tell Tale Heart. Poe uses a lot of imagery to create a suspenseful feeling in The Raven and The Tell Tale Heart. As an example, “While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.”
6th graders should be allowed to participate in school sports just as 7th and 8th graders. Reasons we should participate in school sports are, kids can get even more fit and strong than just being in gym, another one is people can challenge each other in competitions, my final one is that children can be incredibly better along with teamwork and leadership. This is why I think we should play in sports in 6th grade.
They are held to a higher academic standard, resulting in higher grades (Logos). In most cases, if a student does not meet the grade requirement, they are not allowed to participate. This motivates students do not care as much about academics to work harder and get better grades. Schools that have strong athletic programs also have higher test scores. Participating in sports can help students find a place where they fit in It has been proven that student athletes have higher self-esteem, which leads to higher academic achievement. Sports are a great way to burn off steam and relieve stress after a long day of school. Not to mention, involvement in sports is a great way to make long lasting friendships and it makes school more enjoyable. Athletes are more involved in school activities and in the community. This helps bring the community together. Sports enrich and contribute to education.
Sports in high school are important because they involve students in school activities, build self-esteem, create social relationships, teach teamwork and cooperation and provide positive mentors. School activities can unite a school where students, faculty and staff, and parents
“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life.”(Billie Jean King) Most students from first grade to twelfth grade say that sports are a big part of their life and make them who they were meant to be in a positive way. Some people might argue that students in sports or extracurricular activities have lower grades than the other students, but it's the opposite way around. Sports improve your performance in school because they strengthen your concentration ability and leadership traits.
First of all sports keep our youth out of trouble. “Sports lead to less smoking, drug use, pregnancy, and risky sex”(“Active Kids Do”). Sports lead to less of all these things because most high school sports have a two hour practice 4 - 5 times a week plus a game so, in doing that it gives less time for our youth to be caught up in illegal activities. Also kids will have to feel the rave of the coach if they get in trouble because that usually means they can’t play a game and the whole team is depending on them. All in all sports help kids stay out of trouble.
Sports are embedded in many American schools in a way they are not anywhere else. One element of our educational system consistently surprises them, “Sports are a huge deal in American schools,” says Earl Smith of the New York Times. The positives have always outweighed the negatives in the case against high school sports. As Sato Kai state, “The benefits of sports as part of the education process are abundant and sometimes beyond quantifications,” According to many academic specialists, sports offer formative and life long lessons such as: discipline, responsibility, self confidence, and accountability. These skills can furthermore excel your later life and give you a greater chance of being employed in a high level job. Participation in high school sports helps your later development as an adult and teaches you life long skills that can't be taught elsewhere.

Yet another thing sports can do is teach a player many life lessons. According to Scope Magazine's Tim O'Shei, sports teaches perseverance, team spirit, and fun. Many sports coaches will not allow players to participate in a game if the player's homework is not done on time. Some studies even show that some grades may drop after the season is over because of the lack of motive in a student. A student could also learn how to be a good sport by congratulating his or her team even if they lose. They should learn to be a good sport because whether the team wins or loses, the good spirit of the team would remain. A good team spirit could also make it fun and motivational for everyone else. The perseverance, team spirit, and fun in a team player could make both a good role model and a fun person to be around.
American high schools are bound to have plenty of sports for all students to play. So why not pick a sport to play in high school? The reader will learn the many reasons why playing sports is a vital part in a student's life. Highschool sports will allow students to become better educated and get higher grades. By playing sports, students will be able to make more friends and enjoy school more. Lastly, if students were to be able to get a sports scholarship for college, their parents will only have to pay little to no money. High school sports are good for students because they can get a better education, make more friends, and have a better chance at getting into a good college.
Sports can be a unifying force, too. Parents of high school students who participate in sports have higher expectations for their children. They will drive their children to work harder and achieve more potential. Girls find participation in sports to be a way to break gender stereotypes, enhancing their sense of possibility. Also, playing team sports can minimize feelings of difference and isolation.
Christians were persecuted, tortured, and enslaved by rulers for many years and it was not considered a religion to be followed by anyone until Constatine became a ruler. Many kept their religious preferences a secret until the Sarcophagus of Janius Bassus was created. At this time Christianity had become very established, and even the the upper class were converting to Christianity. Romans were more interested in one god than in several. One such member of the elite group was Janius bassus. His sarcophagus probably shows us how much the Christian style of art influenced the art works produced at this time.
Playing sports may help children develop new friends. Some people against youth sports might say that if a child is not that great at a sport, he will have to sit out and not get a chance to play. Only in adult sports athletes don’t get to participate. In youth sports, every athlete is required playing time. Although I believe that sports help children develop friends. Participating in sports has helped children make friends by 87% (Doc 1). Playing sports provides pleasure for children and gives them an opportunity to meet new people and acquire new friendships. Children playing sports find it a lot easier to make friends rather than children not involved in sports.
