Why History Is Important To Me Research Paper

History class in itself has a specific purpose which seems to be frequently forgotten. We learn about violent and horrible events in our past, as well as life- changing and positively impacting ones. From the negative events, we learn what went wrong and how to prevent similar tragedies from happening. From the positive, we gather knowledge and comprehension of the basis of our modern society. We are a self- repairing race, analyzing every flaw and figuring out what caused it. It's an ancient practice, trial and error is human nature.

Recording history is very important. History tells us about how our ancestors lived, and knowing it will give you a solid foundation for discerning between right and wrong. Looking back at our history can prevent us from making the same mistakes that were made before. God even commanded us to remember the past. Mankind recorded history through books, songs, and stories that were passed on through generations, but those records can be confusing. Just reading and hearing about something doesn’t give you a clear understanding or view on what happened before. To actually see history through photos gives you a better understanding. A man who contributed to making history clearer during the Civil War is Mathew Brady.

History is a look into the past, showing how the world used to be compared to how the world is now. History is the structure we live by. It is how we came to be. Without history we would not know any of the important details about the past. For example, it is important to know why certain events happened. The different movements that caused the world to change and work the way it works today. History has a way to be very helpful. Knowing where we came from in this world and how we got to this point and time in our lives. Learning about what has happened in the past can also teach what not to do, so we do not repeat it.

People can learn a lot of things from the past. As time go though the past gives us a lesson to learn. History is one of the important element that taught and inspire people to do great thing compare to the past. History taught us beliefs, values, and different traditions of a culture, even architecture had an influence by the past project. From the very beginning of architecture, people started to build a little tent using branch and stone. After that people start to build column to support the building. One of the examples that has shown the architecture had learn from the past is the acropolis of Athens and the white house at Washington D.C.

Historians believe they need to find the truth. They make arguments, write papers, and give lecture on what they are saying is the truth. Historians want to learn what happened. This is important, because history teaches many lessons. Students of history agree or disagree with historian's arguments and what they say happened or what is the cause of some event.

We can learn the story of history and unpack it to understand. Through history we can learn the effects of change. Through history we learn so much.

"History never seems like history when you are living through it." This quote by John W. Gardner accurately depicts the inability of most young people to understand the importance of history. Every decision that is made creates an outcome. Once that outcome occurs, it becomes history. To many, history is seen as simply cluster of sequential events of the past. When an event like 9/11 came around, the airports were shut down, it changed the way people thought about society, and changed thoughts about who they could trust. History has always inspired me to be the best person I can be so when I die, I want to be remembered as a great person instead of something bad. People will either be known for something good, something bad, and some will die without even being known. History also makes sure that the human race does not mess up and repeat one of our mistakes that we have made. I want to be known for some good that I have done. That is what people need to strive for.

As a student who has been taking social studies classes since the 1st grade, I believe learning about historical people and events that have shaped the world into being what it is today, is important. History is very important to me because it dwells within the past and tells its events so thoroughly that you can almost imagine yourself living in that period. Plus, knowing the tragedies and mistakes made in the past had and still helps us build a fair and just lifestyle. Studying history gives people the answers they've been wondering about, such as curiosity of how and why World War II is an unforgettable piece of the past we all know about.
