Why Humans Believe in God
The topic of god is always a hasty matter; does God exist? This question is usually followed by a set of other questions, does God exists independently of the human mind, or is God a creation of humans? So which is which? God is merely a figment of people’s imagination; humans have created God because they need order in their daily lives and since humans are all the same, they want to believe in an all-powerful being that could show them the way. Now some argument that back up this ideology could be that, humans created God because they are the only creatures with evolved imaginations, and that God did not create the universe, but he created and/or provided the universe with meaning. There are also some objections that follow this way of thinking, for example: humans did not create God; God has to exist, because something must have cause the universe to occur in the beginning. Or that if humans created God how could have God created the meaning of the universe. There are many theories and many objection to this concept, this is all because human have developed independent ways of thinking, so each persons theory of life is extremely, or slightly different than the others.
The first reason behind this theory is that humans created God because they are the only creatures with evolved imaginations. The illusion of God often helps create a transcendental social society. A Transcendental social society gives people the capability to live mostly in their
and to do it to the best of their abilities. This also leads on to the
The question of God’s existence has been pondered by humans for centuries. There are an infinite number of different opinions, arguments, and ideas favoring for or against the idea of God. Personally, I strongly believe in God not only due to my religious affiliation, but also because of my own opinions, ideas, and experience. To begin with, the complexity of Earth and the life that has formed upon it cannot be based just on luck or chance. I believe that ultimately God, as a power, rather than a mystical being is the one created and controls the universe. Although the God and his authority are not entirely comprehensible by humans, it’s our faith as worshiper that eventually lead us to a greater understanding.
Many people wonder about the existence of God and if he truly exists. We have to realize that it is obvious that he exists because of his many creations. Sometimes we think that the world has so much evil so how is God here. Multiple philosophers have made proofs and arguments abut how God really does exist. Philosophers have made arguments that he exists for example Shaun Doyle says that God reveals himself to people in many ways such as that the spirit himself testifies to Christians spirits that we are God’s children, William Lane Craig has found the differences his existence has made, and Pascal Wager’s is an argument that says that believing in God is not on an appeal that he exists, but based on an appeal to self-interest.
God is our creator; He came before us and created the universe as we know it. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”
The belief in some higher presence, other than our own, has existed since man can recollect. Religion was established from this belief, and it can survive and flourish because of this belief. Christianity, one of several forms of religion that exist today, began sometime during the middle of the first century. Christians believe in a higher presence that they call "God." This belief in God is based on faith, not fact; faith is "unquestioning belief that does not require proof or evidence." (Webster's New World College Dictionary, 1996, p. 487). The belief in God exists primarily for two reasons: It answers the question of why we exist, and it is used to exert moral control over society
Who is God? As both an existential and conceptual force, God exists as an median between birth, life, and death as a way to either provoke or stifle the human spirit.
The question of God’s existence has been an ongoing debate for centuries, however the answer cannot be determined for sure. Although there is more logical evidence that disproves the existence of God. Many arguments and theories have arisen from famous philosophers and scientists that take a position on the debate. People assume that the existence of evil and pain disproves the existence of God but the counterargument for this is that God is trying to challenge us. The teleological argument that states that there must be someone responsible for creating the universe since the world is so intricate and orderly, however this is derived from deductive reasoning and logic. Then there is the existence of the Big Bang theory where in which something
Observing the order and complexity found in nature (and the nature of the universe), combined with personal experience, reason leads to a belief in God.
Many different philosophers have their own theory on God's existence. They have their own thoughts of how they believe God is a cause. Such philosophers are Anslem, Spinoza, and Leibniz. .
The belief in Gods has always existed throughout human’s recored history. Whether it be the Greek Gods: Apollo, and Zeus, or the Judeo-Christian God, believed by Christians in modern day society. The belief of God has always existed among humans, however, assuming God does not exist, what explains the cultural evolution of such a false belief, namely religion? I shall argue that the reason this false belief is successful is because it manipulates human nature better than any other belief by these three points: an avoidance of death (the soul), a sense of worth (knowledge), and a sense, or need of belief (faith).
It’s not as simple as it sounds. The question is actually a lot more complex to explain so I will try my best to explain. God created us because He knew that beings would enjoy existence, therefore, He gave them existence. It is a new light upon the love of God that or gain could be a motive for his actions. They glorify him, but God doesn’t gain anything from creating us. We gain the ability to glorify God.
Does God exist? That question has been asked by people for centuries. Christians, Jews, and Muslims would all say that God exists. They would claim that He is the creator of all things and is of a higher being than man is. Others would claim either that God does not exist or that God is not what the Christians, Jews, and Muslims say He is. Both Anselm and Aquinas address this question: Anselm in his "Proslogion" and Aquinas in his "Summa Theologica." The opinions of Anselm and Aquinas as to the nature of God are the same, although Anselm lacks the proof to back up his claims.
However, to the point of God actually existing I am skeptical. Many people turn to the Bible to bring proof to the table of any doubters like myself. While the bible brings forth some interesting facts that we all would like to believe, it does not necessarily make them true. The bible is not evidence itself because it cannot be confirmed as it is thousands of years old. Who knows, it could have been mistaken to be a bible when it was really just a compilation of short stories over a long period of time. Another claim that tries to prove god is real, is Decartes 3rd Meditation which states; If we have a clear and distinct idea of god, than a cause must be as great as its effect this idea cannot come from an imperfect thing like myself. Therefore, God must exist.(Pojman128) This would be true if the first two points could not be challenged. I can simply deny ever having the idea of god, and no evidence is provided for the second idea it is just an assertion that we, apparently an imperfect thing can ever think of something that we are not, which is simply not true. Perfection is based on the eye of the beholder, we all have different ideas of perfection, whether it is great being of pureness, greatness or whatever the case may be. I also choose bring about Bertrand Russell’s argument that since God is all-loving, all-knowing, and
The existence of God has been in question for as long as mankind has existed and thought logically. Many questions have plagued the human mind in regards to God, and there have been many arguments drawn with the hopes of proving the existence of a supreme being whom we know as God. The “God” question has been presented to every individual at some point in their lives. It is a topic that will bring forth never-ending questions and an equal amount of attempted answers. Many philosophers have formulated different rationales when examining the topic of God, some of which include how the word itself should be defined, what his role is in human existence, whether or not he loves us, and ultimately, if he even exists at all. Mankind cannot
It is difficult and nearly impossible to say whether or not God can exist because there is a definite lack of knowledge, or limited knowledge, regarding this issue. Most human beings in society have the natural curiosity and burning desire to know if God does or does not exist. But, when it comes to God – the possibilities are endless. He is anything and everything – he is not
