There are a million reasons why everyone else entering this scholarship should win, and a million different reasons that each and every one of us could benefit from this scholarship. However, before you rule me out, I ask that you hear my reasoning for needing this scholarship. Throughout high school, I have been actively involved in volleyball, basketball, and track, where I have competed at the state level in all three sports. I have also been in Student Council, National Honor Society, Pep Club, FCA, 4-H, and I was elected class president all four years of high school. On top of all of this, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 3. As you can imagine with being a full time student athlete, being involved in different clubs, and coaching my own pee wee …show more content…
Both my mom and dad have worked extra jobs in the summer, so that I could have the luxury of pursuing my dreams. Although I have not worked an actual job, the skills and life lessons I have learned will stay with me forever. I have not only learned how to lead, but how to listen as well. I have learned the true meaning of hard work, and how it can and will payoff. Lastly, I have learned how to appreciate those who got me to where I want to be in life from my teammates to classmates, from teachers to coaches, and even sibling and grandparents. Now as my high school years are drawing to an end, and with college right around the corner, now more than ever I want to be able to help my parents out financially. However, once again I find myself in need of their help as college seems to grow more and more expensive every time I turn around. I pray that one day I can repay my mom and dad for every opportunity they have blessed me with, and every sacrifice they have made along the way. In reality however, I know this may never happen, but that is why I am asking for your help with this
I believe I deserve the A.R.S.S.B Dean’s Student Advisory Scholarship because I am a hardworking student in the business field. I strive to improve myself daily, using the resources I am given throughout our campus. I make a great effort to always staying updated when it comes to any events dealing with the School of Business or TAMIU. Although, I am not involved in the A.R.S.S.B Dean’s Student Advisory Council, I hope to get involved with this program next semester that way I may gain experience and develop stronger work ethic skills. I believe I would be a great recipient for this scholarship based off my dedication to my work studies, and my will to be involved with TAMIU. Although I am classified as a Junior, it is my first year in college,
As a first-generation student, the privilege to attend college has always been a goal of mine. The ambition I hold to further my education is due to the encouragement both of my parents have provided me with. Before I graduated high school, my decision was to take a year off before I attended college. As the year went on I came to realize that the choice I made was not to my advantage, I ended up regretting my decision. Throughout my gap year, I became aware of all the advantages college had to offer me and the experiences I was missing out on. It would be remarkable if I were to get admitted to the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. I would get the opportunity to attend a college of my choice and would be able to pursue my education. For me to attend a college in my hometown would be ideal. I would be able to receive the college experience and education close to my home, family, and friends.
I deserve to be a recipient of a scholarship because I am a dedicated and hardworking student who strives to improve herself and learn from others each and every single day. I know the importance of giving back to my community, so I constantly volunteer to help those in need. In addition, I am a fighter who has never tried to be a victim of her circumstance.
“Hit the Books” Scholarship Essay Some people want to go to Mars. Others want to cure cancer, travel the world, or see Beyoncé in concert. I want to be hunched over a desk at 3 am, a bright laptop as my advisor and a Keurig as my drug dealer while I struggle through an unedited manuscript. I want to crusade through first, second, and third drafts of books that the masses will someday love. I want to rough it through underdeveloped characters and drastic plot holes accidentally created by an unwitting author.
I have much respect Norwich University but school but it is not the right school for me. I wish to live in a college town and have a better campus atmosphere. I have a big goal in my life which Norwich cannot provide for me. I am living a different lifestyle that not many people live and I hate it, it is taking away from the life I want to live. I know what I need to be successful in college and after college in my life and if I do want to reach those goals Norwich does not fit in with that.

I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because I have put all my focus on my education the last four years of high school. I took every opportunity and I could to improve my grades. I personally accepted nothing lower than an A. If I received a B I always pushed myself to do better the next time. I pushed myself harder than my parents pushed me; they would have been happy if I had gotten all C’s. When I’m not in school I’m working at the local hospital for the last four years, or volunteering to clean at the local food bank for the last year. I also have babysat many of the local kids in town.
I believe this scholarship should be awarded to me because I am a very hard worker, and once I set my mind to something I get it done. Going to college is something I have been working hard for and will continue to work hard for once I start. I have focused very hard to get where I am today and think that is something that should be awarded. Winning this scholarship will help college be more affordable for me and my
As a child growing up, my parents harbored the idea of me becoming a surgeon, or a dentist. For as long as I could remember they’ve always told me that “life sciences were the only majors that would contrive a solid job”. As a result, I majored in biology, which led to a miserable freshman year. In due time, I began following my own path, and focused on what I wanted to achieve for myself. Not only did my passion for psychology grow stronger, but I didn’t perceive school as a way please my parents anymore. I learned that as a student in order to reach your true potential, and be successful with what you’re doing, you should be content doing what you love. Ultimately, changing my major to psychology allowed me to feel as if I had a purpose again.
Growing up I never thought going to college would be the path I would take. I always had a hard time keeping up in high school, it discouraged me from any other education after I graduated. Whether it was doing homework or taking a test, I could just never get it right. Attending college seemed a bit discouraging, with nowhere to look for help. Now that I’ve grown up I can see clearer on how school works, and how important it is to study and stay focused. Listening to my parents constantly tell me through high school that I should go to college for a better life was overwhelming. After my dad passed away, it sparked a light in me that listened to what he said and wanted to fulfill his wishes. I use it as motivation. Now, I have perseverance that I didn’t have in high school. I know this because when I am assigned homework or weekend projects, I immediately start running ideas through my head on how I am going to execute them. I am willing to do what it takes to be successful. This is why I believe I deserve a scholarship.
The reason I feel like I deserve to win this scholarship is because of the way I can carry myself through the hardships of life, and still be able to average a GPA over 3.0 Many of my trials have been at home, some of these trials happen at school. I can say proudly that I am on track to defeat those trials in one swoop. I am on track to receive many prestigious accolades from my school. From life I’ve learned that it isn’t fair, and working hard doesn’t get you to where you want, but something in me still believes it no matter what. As far as I know winning $1000 for college doesn’t put a significant dent in the average $12000 a year in college tuition, but I believe it’ll help start my journey.
Truth be told, I waited until I was absolutely sure what profession I intended on entering before going to college. As I was about to hit my early twenties, I could not fathom the thought of going into debt or wasting money hopping from one major to another like many of my friends were doing. Unfortunately, during this time of pondering indecisions about my future I got into a little trouble that landed me with a Class B Misdemeanor for which I served one year of deferred adjudication. During this year I had plenty time to think about my actions and my future while I worked to pay my fine, completed community service, took court appointed classes and reported to my probation officer. Though this was not a good time in my life, it was a major eye opener to me as far as where I saw myself in the future. I took every aspect of my deferred adjudication very seriously because I knew with a simple twist of fate the end result could have been far worse. I decided though I was disappointed in my actions and the result, my experience was one I could use to better myself and also help others. I had found my purpose in life in the drive to help others through their rehabilitation and the
Providing me with financial assistance will be a blessing. I believe having an education is highly valuable. I wish to further my education and do not want the cost to discourage me from continuing. By receiving this scholarship, my financial concerns can be reduced and my attention can be focused on schoolwork, studies, and my grades. I will use this scholarship money to pay expenses that are required by the College of Nursing, such as books, tuition, and supplies. I am currently employed, so the more financial assistance I acquire, the more money I have to pay for school. The less amount of time I spend at work, the more time I have to study. My health and studies are important to me and I do not want to sacrifice them on trying to spend
Throughout my childhood life and school, I was never sure what my future would look like. There were so many things I wanted to be from engineer to criminal justice major to lawyer that I could never make up my mind. Throughout high school and majority of college I could never just choose one specific major. Although I always knew that when I arrived at my first college I would make sure I worked hard to set the foundation down for my future goals. I always knew that eventually I would achieve my goals by making sacrifices and putting the time in. Today I’m halfway there to achieving what some people probably would have said is impossible.
I believe I should be awarded one of your scholarships because I believe in taking advantage of every opportunity that the scholarship will bestow upon me. I am a student that believes in working hard, being a positive influence, and giving back to the community. Your organization and I share these core values and I would like to take our vision further by using this scholarship to advance my education as well as an opportunity to improve the lives of those around me. As an immigrant from Nepal, I have had to work hard my whole life just to survive in America. Working multiple jobs while attending school is a tough challenge that I face but I believe that if one works hard their dreams can come true. Many people from my community give up
