Six years after graduating High School, I have finally decided to pursue a college education. Three, fairly common, factors played in to my decision to go back to school: learning new things, building confidence in myself and pursuing my desired career. My father and the rest of my family have all gone into trade work, some of them attending a trade school and some not. While all of my family does well and live a comfortable lifestyle. Why did I decide to attend college? I chose this path for my life when I was very young, both of my parents attended some form of higher education. They both ended up living fairly well, I decided that I wanted to be successful in life as well and that going to college would be an integral part of my future. I want to be able to live in comfort; be able to be a productive member of my community still, become an adult, and be able to understand things in a new light.

Another reason I have decided to return to school is because I realize it's going to help with my career. I know getting a degree won't necessarily guarantee a promotion or raise but I believe it will provide more opportunities along the way. My ultimate goal for obtaining this degree is to use it towards getting a Master's degree.
My reasons for returning to school may seem a bit selfish but let me explain. I have been an EMT and Paramedic for the past 28 years. The areas for advancement in this field are far and few between. I am a Hispanic who lives with wonderful parents who unfortunately could not go to college. It was very expensive for them to attend college. I will be a first generation college student seeking to make a statistical change. I want to be one of those few Hispanics that do go to college and end up getting a doctorate degree. I have lived all my life with one goal: to earn my doctorate degree. I am a young adult fully aware of the hard physical labor my parents have to go through each day to provide for our family. By helping them, I am more aware of how difficult it really is for them. I do not want to live in the tradition of most Hispanics: I do not want to end up in a job in construction, or landscaping that will not allow me to develop my
I decided to return to school for several reasons. The first reason would be career progression and to add value to myself should I seek another career field. I am currently a Sergeant with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office and I supervise the Special Enforcement Bureau. Secondly, I may consider applying to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation once I complete my bachelor degree. Third, I believe that obtaining a higher education is important and I want both of my daughters to know that their father completed a degree and continued my education past a high school diploma. Lastly, I served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Utilizing the Post 9/11 GI Bill, my education is essentially free.
Recently, after I decided to join the military I decided it was time to begin attending school again. Many reasons influenced my decision. The biggest reason I could come up with is the fact that while utilizing tuition assistance I do not entail any financial obligations as long as I receive a passing grade in all my courses. Being in the military has also made me realize the importance of achieving a higher level of education. In order to be set apart among your peers you need to prove you are attempting to better yourself at every turn. Education is a great way to prove that. Not only that, education is one thing no one can ever take away from you. I'm applying to Colorado Christian University to see what amount of transfer credits I will
We live in a society that the further you explore your education, the better chance you have in living a fulfilling lifestyle. I re-enroll to Allen School for medicine and science to reach my goals on better myself as a person. By becoming a student in the field of medicine and to widen my horizon. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete this program at the beginning of January due to a setback, from my parents. My dad was not willing to help me further my education because of financial reasons nor his wife because of their separation.
The decision to reinvent myself was not one that I made voluntarily. In what I call my previous life, I lived in a safe neighborhood with lovely neighbors, a successful career, and a loving family dynamic where I was a wife and mother. I left most of it behind and moved to Guam with my children to start anew. In the month that I’ve been here, I have had some unexpected difficulties. Despite a lengthy resume, I have been unable to find a job. The decision to go back to College was because of the financial benefit of the Montgomery GI Bill. However, I appreciate the education because it will open up more opportunities for employment in the future. I have also put aside the pride I had in my independence when I accepted help from family and friends.

I played baseball in high school so that really taught me a good work
We all remember how exciting it was receiving emails and postcards from different colleges during our junior and senior year of high school. Touring the school on open house was exciting because they fed you and gave you prizes along with the speeches on why we should choose that school. We also took advantage of the waived fees to turn in college applications. They basically made us feel desired and unique. Little did we know is that they were investing in us, hoping that we would choose to attend their school. Why? Because they wanted our money. Universities act like businesses. Slowly, but surely they get us in debt with loans because tuition is extremely high. What's their excuse? We get what we pay for. I don't think that the cost of attending a school should dictate the type of education we receive.
