Now that it is getting warmer outside, take caution when it comes to the type of beverage you reach for to cool yourself down. That beer may feel nice and cool and hydrating with each sip, but your body will be feeling the exact opposite. If you are outside in the heat, your body will lose water, mostly by sweating to stay cool. Combine that with alcohol, which acts as a diuretic causing increased urination, your body begins to lose an excessive amount of water. Exposure to hours of heat and only consuming alcohol can lead to dehydration. Switch the cold brews for bottled water or a sports drink on a hot day. If you must have that beer on a hot day, alternate between beer and water. This is not a cure all solution, but can delay the onset of
Being able to work as a volunteer for the Molecular Biology and Microbiology department on campus as a teaching assistant, allowed me to gain an immense amount of experience which was derived from both beneficial and non-beneficial aspects of it. For instance, one of the most beneficial facet of working as a teaching assistant for me was being able to work alongside a number of different individuals who have prior experience such as professors and head teaching assistants allowing me the opportunity to learn how a specific lab environment functions. For example, learning about how the lecture and lab component is taught to the students as well as how to approach and answer specific questions or problems the students may be facing on a daily basis.
If I were to describe Doc Hendley I would say that in the beginning of the book he was kind of a rough guy. He had no direction in his life. For example he moved from job to job. He traveled the country on his motorcycle and made ends meet by working at bars. In the last section of Wine to Water (p. 273) he had mentioned that he would handle a rough situation differently a few years ago when he had a short temper. Once he met his friend Tasha she turned things around for him. She made Doc start thinking about what he was put on Earth to do. Fast forward to when Doc was first in Darfur. After a few months of being in an extreme culture shock, Doc started to feel sympathetic towards the needy people in the world. In this last section

As an intern at RAIN, I will provide companionship to elderly citizens that may no longer have family or who are lonely. I have had the experience of being involved in other individuals’ lives. As an intern, I will be able to provide them counseling, conversation, games, shared hobbies, or even a short walk. I believe my strengths are having good communication skills, understanding the problems and needs of others, having the ability to solve conflict situations, exhibiting passion for what they do, being creative and fearless with a high level of responsibility, being carefully detail-oriented ,and harboring good listening skills.

In my experience over my current internship at Aiken Elementary School this year has been very helpful. Mentoring a professional teacher gave me the experience of being able to mentor children. I am well prepared to make kindergarten students learn the alphabet and to help them build
I have been very involved in HOSA (Future Health Professionals) which has allowed me to discover and pursue my interest in the medical field. HOSA has health career competitions, where I was able to compete at the state level in Sports Medicine, win 2nd Place in state level Pathophysiology and compete internationally in Pathophysiology. At HOSA conferences I have gotten to meet professionals and learn more about their fields, ranging from cardiothoracic surgery to chiropractic medicine. HOSA has influenced my future in a way that inspired me to help others pursue their interest in the medical field because of that I became the VP of Service. As VP of Service, I lead volunteer activities including the school blood drive and decorating the Northeast

The community that my group members and I decided to chose for our project was the Native American student population on campus. The experience that I felt pushed me the most out of my comfort zone was the "Water is Life" discussion that they hosted on campus on February 21st. For this discussion they brought two speakers to campus, Angela Mooney D`Arcy and Ziad Abbas, to speak about the intersectionality between what the Native American community is doing for the water crisis in America and what the Palestinian community is doing in Gaza.
I volunteered at Masonic Homes of California which is a senior living community. When I first started to volunteer I actually thought that my whole time would be spent just making copies and doing small miscellaneous tasks in the office; however, I was wrong to believe that. I did not just spend my time making copies, I got to do different tasks which made the time pass. By volunteering here I was able to meet new colleagues and I was able to network. The most important thing that I learned from my internship that I can use in daily life is to make sure that I get relevant experience in all fields that I am interested in pursuing. Without the experience it would be hard for me to accomplish what I am aiming for. The main connection I could say that I made is that I was able to realize
Beer and wine might have been one of the first drinks that caused humans to civilize and create a great community. In fact Tom Standage introduces us to this idea of these early drinks shaping human culture in his book A History of a World in Six Glasses. As Standage informs us about how beer was one of the causes in early settlement, and why farming was led to a great success because of the use of beer. Standage also mentions a start in traditions and a formation of government due to these drinks. Although beer being very important, Standage also introduces us to wine as a form of a class status that helped man distinguishing barbarism to a world of high standards and manners allowing for the community to become more cultured and
