Millions of students attend college every year in the United States (“Fast Facts”). Many of these students decide to go to college because it’s their own personal decision, but what kinds of factors actually influence this decision? In my personal decision to go to college, I was mainly influenced by family, my religion, means for education, and an interest in medicine. For me, family was one of the biggest influences in my deciding to go to college. Part of meeting the basic need for family is to socialize and protect your children (Henslin, 105). Going to college sets up a solid path to getting a foundation for a family, and would allow me to provide and take care of them.
