I believe I would be a great recipient for this scholarship based off my dedication to my work studies, and my will to be involved with TAMIU. Although I am classified as a Junior, it is my first year in college,
Over the years, I have had numerous experiences that have taught me important life skills like perseverance, leadership, personal organization, team building, empathy, and service to others. Being a part of Honors College will provide me opportunities for intellectual challenge, leadership, and connect with the community of scholars and dedicated advisors and faculty members.

When comparing myself to my fellow classmates, I find that my intense dedication to my schoolwork separates me from the majority. Unlike so many of my peers, my schoolwork virtually dominates my life during the week, on the weekends, and during the seasonal breaks. Work hard and thoroughly complete my work, which is why I believe I deserve to receive a scholarship.

I believe that I deserve this scholarship because I have always made it a point to put forth my very best effort in everything I do. In addition, I have enriched my education through participation in various extracurricular activities.
I’m far from rich, but I believe I have a bright future. I know I can go very far with college, however I’m not sure how I will be able to afford it. However, I won’t give up, because my mom and dad are disabled and can’t work. Two years ago my dad was making a lot of money and had my college money money saved up. I was going to be the first in the family to go to college, however he got hurt on the job, His company took his money. Over the past few years we had to use the college money just to stay off the streets. At seventeen, I take care of my mom, and dad. I also work several side jobs every week. With what the government gives, and what I make each month, we can barely even pay our bills. This is why I believe I should be chosen for this scholarship because I have been through the struggle. I’m motivated, and I have a plan to be successful.
It would be an honor to be awarded this scholarship, because like many others I have worked hard and pushed myself for the place where I am at present day. It has always been my goal to be successful in life, to be able to be financially stable, put dinner on the table and provide not just for myself but for those who have provided for me. I want to be able to travel the world and experience as much as I can in my lifetime.
I am Oliver Zhang, an 8th grader at Canyon Middle School. My life has constantly been centered on a tiny part of America, Castro Valley in Northern California. America is a large country with landmarks like Capitol Hill symbolizing democracy in our nation. Now thanks to the internet, these places can be observed anywhere within just a few keystrokes.
As the classmate of so many wonderful and smart individuals, I understand the difficulty that you may have determining the recipients of these scholarships, so I am writing you to differentiate myself from the rest. I am not in the top ten ranking in my class, but I believe that my grades show a substantial amount of discipline, dedication, and work ethicacy. Math, an area that may not be the best reflection of my hard work, has proven to be a more difficult subject. Despite this obstacle, I continued to strive for more credits than I need and try my best to accelerate in those classes. By taking on classes like geometry and algebra II in my sophomore year and AP biology, anatomy and physiology, advanced chemistry, and a CNA course through FVTC in my senior year, I hope that I demonstrate my ability to take on a large workload and succeed, as well as my dedication when it comes to the profession that I plan pursue.
I believe the traits one looks for in a recipient are something a person begins building early in life. I am a tinker, an analyst, and above all, I am unique. I know I have enough confidence in my academic discipline and passion to fill the entire Allen E. Paulson Stadium, in theory. I know that I am a driven young woman who has dreams, goals, and aspirations of becoming successful in the field of all things computer related. I am aware I have made the decision to pursue a career in one of the toughest fields for women - Engineering. Pursuing that field means one day I’ll be building drones for the military, as always imagined. Since I cannot financially afford to attend Georgia Southern University on my own, receiving a scholarship will greatly assist me in achieving my goals.
“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure” (Bill Cosby). Reflecting back on my life I have dealt with numerous downfalls but I always bounce back. I was born in India and moved here when I was six years old. As I grew up in California I was not a bright student at first. I was enrolled in Carmichael Elementary in which I was the only one with Turban on my head, which caused me to get into a lot of fights with other students who were making fun of turban. Not knowing how to speak English at the time affected the way interacted with teachers and students. On the other hand my family always had a tight budget at home. Both of my parents worked at the store we owned which was the only source money. At school kids were always talking about their new shoes and the iPod which his or her parents got them. I didn’t get everything I wanted as a kid but as I got older I understand if did I could be a spoiled brat. When I moved from Carmichael to Sacramento and I was enrolled at Maeola R. Beitzel elementary. Going to this new school I already learned English so I made marvelous friends and was surrounded by positive people. Going from a chaos environment to this harmonious environment in part because I was speaking English, made me have unique personality .I was playing sports and growing as a student. Those years went by in no time. Now I am in high school and my family’s income has been growing. My mom changed her work to now at Jack in
I believe I should be awarded one of your scholarships because I believe in taking advantage of every opportunity that the scholarship will bestow upon me. I am a student that believes in working hard, being a positive influence, and giving back to the community. Your organization and I share these core values and I would like to take our vision further by using this scholarship to advance my education as well as an opportunity to improve the lives of those around me. As an immigrant from Nepal, I have had to work hard my whole life just to survive in America. Working multiple jobs while attending school is a tough challenge that I face but I believe that if one works hard their dreams can come true. Many people from my community give up
I believe that I should receive this scholarship because I'm a safe investment. The current grade point average I have is somewhere in the 3.3 - 3.4 range at the moment and I have full intentions on raising that as much as I can with my time left in highschool. I have a work ethic that pushes me to go above and beyond what is required of me, failure and backing out of college is not an option for me. I already began learning skills of my future major, computer science, that will help me through college as well as the world out in the workforce as a career.
I believe I deserve this scholarship for numerous reasons. I am a hard working person, who always strives to do my best, and tackles any challenge posed with the ambition. My greatest desire is to become a successful engineer, however the financial burden that college bares is too great an obstacle to conquer on my own. I believe I deserve this scholarship, because investing in mem would be investing in the future.
